I've been to Uncle Lyle's Tavern twice and both times had an excellent meal and great service. Yesterday I tried the smoked wings. 10 wings will set you back $15.99 but they aren't your average size wings. These are huge and full of smoked flavor while still retaining that crispy skin. Also tried the special of the day which was homemade queso Mac n Cheese. I added smoked brisket on top and it was fabulous! The queso cheese was full of flavor and delivered that nice kick without being overly spicy. The brisket was tender and juicy and complemented the Mac n Cheese perfectly. They also have daily food specials (Tuesday is 10 wings for $10) as well as a great menu of crafted cocktails. Uncle Lyle's has a Touchtunes jukebox. My wife and I were here with about 50 other people for a dinner after a bus trip. We were asked to go upstairs for their banquet area. We were supposed to have dinner at six pm. The tour guide even called ahead and told them that we would be there early. Our dinner choices had been called in advance. When we arrived there was only one waitress to try to serve 54 people. Apparently the two other waitresses did not show up for work. After two and a half hours most of our people had not received their food yet. We were on a time schedule for the bus driver. About half of our group were senior citizens. Some of them were diabetics. If the tavern was having problems they should have notified the tour operator and tried to make adjustments for the meals. If you only have a few people for dinner I'm sure it would have been a completely different situation. My wife and I ordered chicken Alfredo , it looked like watered down Mac and cheese with a few pieces of chicken mixed together. read more

It was surprising to me how good the pulled pork and Mac and cheese wraps are here. Come hungry and you will be satisfied. If you don't want a wrap you can get the pulled pork dinner. I liked the Jenny's sweet BBQ sauce and my son preferred the tangy sauce. They have quite a variety. The only thing is I ordered fries and I was quite stuffed from the wrap. read more

I'm not sure why the average is so low. The food is amazing here. We stopped on a whim and experience amazing smoked meats and have gone back and each trip is top notch. After visiting here on October 25th 2022 we had to update our review. A couple of things are notable here we've had the smoke wings before and we like them however on this trip the smoke wings were so good my wife said she's never had a better one in her entire life. My wife is an excellent cook and we've been to many different places and this is not an exaggeration. They were smoked well, seasoned well had a crispy skin not a slimy skin, and remained tender; even the small ones that you thought would be dry were just as moist as the big ones. The cheese curds are very good and their homemade chips are crispy seasoned well and not greasy. NEW... To the menu several items including burnt ends. See my updated picture of the menu dated October 25th 2022. The burnt ends were good , great smoked flavor and very little waste as we prefer not to eat the fat. Tender! First off for someone new to the area, this place is more bar than grill. Even the low lighting was more bar like. Taking that into consideration, the bartender/waitress was friendly and took good care of us. Ordered the smoked brisket dinner. 2 very thinly sliced pieces of brisket that were very tasty (just wish it was thicker or more slices). The Brussel sprouts were very crispy with no seasoning (a touch of balsamic vinegar would have made a big difference. The mac and cheese made the meal! Dundee best kept secret! This could be what you call your typical small town bar. It's has the small town bar feel. There is seating downstairs and there is also and upstairs with another bar and seating. The service was excellent both times we have eaten here. Both times it was on the weekend during the busy time. All the food we've eaten has been excellent! Appetizers were great, catfish was tasty. We gave this place a second try and it was inedible. I will not be returning. The cheese sauce on the fries was thick like glue. I'm not exaggerating when I say that we threw almost everything in the trash, uneaten. Aside from that, this restaurant has been hosting events despite the current COVID-19 pandemic. This is both disturbing and irresponsible. There are way, way better alternatives in Dundee for really good food. If the awful food doesn't scare you away, the COVID breeding grounds should. read more

By far the worst bar food I've ever had, and I've had plenty. Stir fry was overly salty and burnt, the $5 kids burger was the size of a half dollar, Chelsea must have disgusting taste in chicken bc that sandwich was dry, salty, and smelled horrible. The jalapeno burger was, well, jalepenos on top of a burger. The only decent thing was the pretzel and queso, oh and the bottled beer. Seriously I wouldn't feed a homeless person this food. BEWARE! Just left his establishment for a causal Mothers Day evening snack and feel like we were just ripped off! 2 peope and our bill was $85.00 for a DRIED port sandwich, chicken wrap with BAD lettuce, side salad without was nothing but a bunch of croutons and ends of romanine lettuce and 3 what we though we paid for "TOP" shelf long island ice teas. Well we sure did pay for these 'not so "TOP" shelf long island ice teas.....We were actually sticker shocked when we got the bill. The long island ice teas were $8.50 BUT the TOP shelf was $2.00 extra for EVERY liquor upgrade...end price $15.00 for a glass filled to the brim with ice and barely and effect. And for the lettuce wrap, all the waitress could do was take $1.00 off our bill???? seriously it should have been removed in it's entire. But again, this just proves they are about the $$$ vs customer service/satisfaction.. And if you use a credit card, there is an extra fee..... Messaged the owners, who di promptly reply, to only get "I'm Sorry", we will look into this... We eat out often and have NO problem spending money or paying top prices for service/food...but NOT for what we just got and paid for....we are actually still trying to process what the hell we did get???? Daughter got a chicken sandwich that was just over cooked strips on a bun. Also got a bourbon burger was very good, cooked well. Not very clean with carpet, upstairs area even worse. Seen chewed gum stuck in brick holes in hallway. Church chairs to sit in were a bit strange. Prices way too high for food given, I'd rather pay 70.00 to a classier establishment. Very cool looking place on the outside. The inside is in need of some detail cleaning. Especially the carpet and maybe new chairs. The bar area is nice and old school feeling to it. Our server was very friendly and helpful. Brought refills for us and was always smiling. I ordered the salmon with mango salsa. It was delicious but a little over cooked. The salsa kept it from being bland and gave it a good flavorful taste. The fries are thin shoestring style and were also a little over cooked My friend got the bourbon burger. He said it was good and that he enjoyed it. My other friend got the steak with blu cheese crumbles on it with mashed potatoes. It was also a little over cooked. She ordered med well and got well done. She also said the potatoes were just eh and not very flavorful. Their daughter got the chicken sandwich and was not impressed by it. My boyfriend and I decided to check this place out since this is the #1 rated restaurant in all of Dundee. Then we walked in and immediately realized that it being the #1 rated restaurant in Dundee does not mean much haha. The service was pretty good I'll give them that, our waitress was friendly and seemed genuinely happy to be there. We also really liked their house chips and fries. However in the end we paid $40 for very, and I mean VERY, decent food. Also, I have a severe tree nut allergy and I have to be cautious anytime I go out to eat, so we asked our waitress to confirm that there was nothing in our food that contained tree nuts. She then proceeded to go to the kitchen, came back, and said "we don't know." I'm sorry but how do you not know what ingredients are in your food??? That was VERY alarming to me in several different ways. There was also a huge "Trump: Build That Wall!" truck parked outside which made Dundee all that more enjoyable. read more

I was in town for a tournament and found this place on apple maps. We got greeted by the bartender Ryan who was very nice and made sure everyone was taken care of. The food got to us pretty fast and was very good! They host mutiple events throughout the month and the place is small but well designed. Very comfortable atmosphere in this place! The bartender was our server and checked on us several times and was friendly. The negative was the price of the food which was high for the portion and quality of the steak. We got there first and I couldn't miss the notice on the back door stating that the restaurant did not follow the covid 19 mandates of the governor, that they respected individual rights, and that our health was our own responsibility. We walked in and was greeted by a waitress not wearing a mask, an individual walking out of the kitchen with a mask around his chin, and not a single mask seen on the sparse number of people in the place. I stopped in for lunch today on my way through town. I wasn't too hungry so I ordered soup and salad. The poblano pepper soup was very good. Not too spicy but it did have a little bite. The salad I had was off the special list but it was very close to the Michigan salad on the regular menu. You can't really go wrong with dried cherries and crumbled blue cheese. It was my first time stopping in Dundee so I wasn't sure what to expect. Next time I'm in the area I'll have to try their burger. All of the other patrons seemed to go that route so I suspect thats there draw for lunch. read more

This place is not somewhere I would ever take my wife and kids. That being said the food is pretty decent! I had the wow burger and it definitely wasn't cooked medium rare like I asked but was still pretty good nonetheless. The fries I had tasted like onion rings, lol odd but I can't really complain about that. The environment is that of your typical hole-in-the-wall bar. Super dim lighting, and the regular bar fly's that have had too much to drink, and talking loud about everything. I eat here about once a year by myself, and that frequency seems appropriate enough to feed my curiosity. The customer service is good! Two nice girls serving and taking orders. The one must be a manager, since she acted like she was working at a much nicer establishment? A+ for service. As a local I feel that this place could be so much more if they "took the garbage out" and brightened up the place. Great food however staff didn't have face coverings on and didn't sanitize tables when guest left. They would pick up trash from the table and not wipe it down. we arrived around 7:15 they took our order right away and around 8:15 are food arrived. My wife ordered a hamburger and the tomato was still half green not even close to ripe. I ordered the brisket dinner which was 5 onion rings and a bowl of coleslaw which was so runny that it looked like soup. The brisket was maybe 7 table spoons of crumbs from the bottom of the pan which it must of been setting in all day because the sauce was staring to caramelize and get sticky and hard. These people have the guts to charge 14.00 dollars for this (it takes some nerve) The waitress was nice. In closing all I can say is shame on you for trying to pass this as food shame. read more

It is nice to see restaurants ditching the pre-made junk and getting back to distinguishing themselves with uniquely flavored and prepared food. We went for burgers and fries and we're very happy we did. No frozen burger patties here! The burger was very flavorful and huge. I mean hard to get your mouth around it huge. We talked with the owner and when he told us they tested five buns before they found one that they liked it knew this was a place that prides itself on the food they serve. This place was great! Stopped here on the way home from a bowling tournament with my wife and in-laws. Lyle came to greet us personally and was very friendly - not obnoxious like some desperate restaurateurs. We had some smoked wings with bourbon sauce as an app and they were great. Cooked properly and had enough smoke flavor to power through the sweet & spicy bourbon sauce. I had the smoked brisket sandwich. It was also great. Meat was tender and flavorful with just the right amount of sauce. My only suggestion is to put some wet naps on the tables! read more

We're so glad we tried this place! We almost went to a chain restaurant in Dundee tonight and I'm so happy that we didn't! The BBQ was sooooo good. The staff was friendly and went above and beyond answering our questions, explaining the menu, and getting our orders just right, kept our drinks refilled, etc. They have additional room upstairs with billiards tables and rental space. And we are still waiting. This is the most horrible service. We also asked the wastress if it's about done and she said they are real busy.
