I have been into Uncle Sam's Army Navy Outdoor store many times over the years. They always have the coolest surplus and have proven very helpful when looking for various items. They sell both new and used surplus, which Is great whenever I need something for drill or a training exercise that I can't find at the PX. I buy all of my canteens new and unused from Uncle Sam's. It seems like every time I walk into Uncle Sam's I'm reminded of how cool it is. It seems that no matter what item I'm looking for they usually have it. The staff are super helpful and friendly which makes the shopping experience all the better. I was glad to see they were also taking precautions by wearing masks and gloves. This store is one of the best surplus stores that I have ever found. I didn't know what to expect but I always like to discover new places. It was so much bigger inside than it appeared outside. I needed to update my camping equipment and I found a modular sleep system in excellent condition at a really reasonable price. I had a dog tag made for my doggo and that was very interesting to watch them make it on a really old authentic machine. I looked around and tried to remember everything that they carry so that I know where to find it in the future. I met a soldier there that arrived home and was moved by his story. All in all a really good experience. I would recommend Uncle Sam's Army Navy as a great place to shop. This time I came in to find some cold weather gear because I'm heading out on a backpacking trip and didn't want to freeze out in the cold. They actually have an excellent selection of thermals and polypro head to toe. I got geared up and also got some waterproof gore-tex to keep dry. Went in to drop a couple grand on military surplus gear and then was told I must wear a mask. Upon informing them that I'm unable to wear one was directed to a corner of the store wear I must sit and everything would be brought to me. That's not shopping, I can do that online I wouldn't have come to the store for something I can do at home. So me and my money are headed elsewhere. Uncle Sam's? I like this place has a lot of stuff that he's wanting to get to be a prepper. I got a duffel bag. Some water purification tablets and a compass. A neat place. I did not find much in the way of Military surplus in Utah, and it looks like Uncle Sam's may be the best one in the state (though there is some at Smith & Edwards out towards Ogden). The building appears to be an original quonset hut, or maybe two of them put together. The front part is smaller but the rear side is huge. The front has more small items and for me, had the most interesting stuff. They had military manuals, badges, patches, knives, some surplus electronics, and other interesting stuff. To go to the back part of the building you go down a little staircase where a guard(?) watches you. I guess they've had problems with theft before? In the 2nd part of the store are larger items like ammo cans, jerry cans, tents, and clothing. There are some non-GI things (Rothco, etc) but there is a lot of legit surplus. I've only been here once, so I can't comment how often they get new items in, but that would be a key thing to keep me coming back. Uncle Sam's is definitely a step above the average 'camos and canteens' type of "Army/Navy Surplus store". PS: Plenty of parking in the parking lot. Also, there is an airsoft store next door, if you're into that sort of thing. read more

Maverick is awesome. He is so knowledgeable with all the items. Knows his stuff, what militaries did it, ect. Showed me something's I didn't know I was looking for and walked out getting a lot of good stuff. They've got a lot of actual surplus items as well as a ton of new (Rothco) stuff. Uncle Sam's Army Navy Outdoor is the best army surplus store I have ever been too. I have been driving past Uncle Sam's on State Street and today I finally stopped to check it out. I have been wanting to put together a bugout bag. I really liked the large sign outside the store saying "everything you need to survive is inside." I also appreciated the sign on the door requiring masks. I was amazed when I walked in the door to see military toys hanging from the ceiling! The top level and bottom level have a large variety of products with everything I needed for my bugout bag and more. The staff was very helpful and accommodating with the questions I had. I could honestly walk around the store for a couple hours looking at everything they have to offer. It was the best experience I had at an army surplus store, and it is one of the best local businesses in the Orem-Provo area. I will definitely come back again very very soon. read more

I used to love this place but I won't be back. They treat you like a criminal when you walk in the door requiring you to leave your handbag with them up front. No thank you. I'm not a thief and I don't trust you to watch my bag. The place now makes you feel uncomfortable and does not feel very American. read more

I love this place... Great options, great staff ideally located. friendly and passionate who love our Veterans. As a 10 year Veteran myself who honorably served as did my dad and several others dating all the way back This is close to my heart. I am glad they require and posted on the door that mask are required and as a business it's their constitutional right regardless of opinions about this virus. It shows they care enough as a caution to protect not only staff but customers and Veterans who come through. Not only that but for those who don't wish to be mindful of others or who have health reasons they allow you to sit down and relax being mindful of health conditions and are more then willing to help you get what you need and if your not sure they are willing to go the extra mile. This makes other customers who shop here Veteran or not feel respected and safe no matter ones opinions of the outbreak. The fact they have stuff dating back to ww2 to current as well as modern stuff is amazing and to see how full this place is is perhaps the best Army Navy outdoor store I have been to. First time I was delighted to see some things that I had grown up with but I was surprised by the extremely overpriced items that are within the store. For example I found many articles of clothing that I looked at that were marked & priced as new but obviously used, tents, sleeping bags, tools etc.... all very well overpriced! In my years I have been an avid outdoorsmen and know what I'm looking for when it comes to the selection that "Uncle sams" has to offer. This is not only my opinion but those of many friends who feel the same. The owner has a suspicious character that feeds the facts that she is dishonest with how she prices her items. The store is disorganized and you can barely fit through the clothing racks, very unprofessional and a disgrace to try and rip off those that serve our country. If you are looking to find camping, survival gear, tools etc.... I recommend going to Sportmans warehouse, Big 5, Cabelas and Scheels. Trust me not worth your time or hard earned money. read more

They have real genuine dog tags that you can personalize. I had 16 made as replicas of my deceased father's dog tag from Vietnam. I will give to all the grandchildren as a keepsake. They were $7 each with the silencer & chain. Great party favor. My only suggestion is if you are going to have more than a couple made call ahead. I drove down from Ogden and at first the clerk said they could not make 16 in one day. She did call a manager and with some help they had them whipped out in 30 minutes. Great place, was able to find some gear I was missing for cheap. These guys have just about everything you could need.

Extremely poor service, very little expertise. If you're looking for something cheap from China, this is the place. If you're looking for the real thing, look elsewhere. I had a WWII era artifact that I was looking to sell, and I thought I would start by asking at this store. Even if they weren't interested in buying it, I figured they would know someone who would. To start, the cashier offered me in-store credit (wtf???), and didn't seem to understand my request. When I asked to speak with her supervisor, the woman would not come downstairs to speak with me, but instead spoke with me over the landline at the front desk. I explained my situation, and she responded by telling me to look online on "ebay or somewhere else." When I asked her if they knew anyone with expertise or could refer me anywhere, she rudely told me to give the phone back to the cashier, who turned it off and gave me a vapid smile. Nothing in the store strikes me as being very authentic (except maybe the combat manuals). If you're looking for the real thing--not to mention quality service and expertise--look elsewhere. read more

My husband is a Marine. We stopped in for a quick look and ended up staying for over an hour! Everything from camping gear to WWI and WWII memorabilia is in this store! They even had a dress blues jacket! Love it! We will be coming back again and again and highly recommend everyone to come in and have a look! read more

There is an atmosphere in this store that makes everyone welcome. It is huge and very clean and organized! It has something for everybody, from the scouter, camper, emergency preparedness, hunter, collector of military memorabilia and even things to make everyday living easier. The staff is well informed and ready to assist. Visiting surplus stores is something our family enjoys doing as we travel and we were impressed with the order and selection of items offered at Uncle Sam's Army Navy Outdoor. The items we purchased were top notch and the service was outstanding. For such a huge place, I am amazed at how clean and well organized it is. Can't wait to return in the spring. read more
