If there were more (that weren't pizzerias), then I didn't see them. Looking at the menu and knowing my kids' tastes (12 and 9), Nonna's was right up their alley. From the minute we walked in, we were greeted with a smile and a welcoming introduction. Everyone was so kind and welcoming. It was a quiet and cozy restaurant, with impeccable service from beginning to end. The fresh bread, butter, and garlic with olive oil started off our meal. We followed it up with fried provolone, a chunk of breaded and fried provolone melted to a gooey temperature on a bed of red sauce and served with crostini. I don't know what the green dollop on it was, but I assumed it was something like pesto (possibly). This is where I first tasted the house-made red sauce. It is seriously a wonderful sauce--thick and hearty, robust with intense flavor. We devoured it within minutes. My kids wanted pasta, and at $9 for a gigantic plate with a huge Italian meatball, you can't beat it. My daughter said it was the second-best spaghetti she's ever had in her life. It came with the red sauce that was featured in the fried provolone. I agreed it was one of the best, and it was 100% the sauce. My Chicken Piccata was superb. It had all the flavors I was looking for--savory, delicious, tender slices of chicken with fresh veggies in a light and tangy lemon-white wine sauce. There were absolutely no leftovers when all was said and done. This is one of the best Italian restaurants I've ever had the pleasure of dining at. Run, don't walk when it comes to visiting Nonna's.

The large is actually pretty small compared to what you get at other places in Rutland. The taste of the pizza was fine nothing I would say that was remarkable or that stood out to make it stand out from others in the area. The chicken alfredo with broccoli was kind of tasteless but the chicken was soft and tender and the pasta was cooked well. It comes with half of a sub roll that is the garlic bread. We did get a Mug Root beer and Ben and Jerry's ice cream which were both great. It's also convenient to be able to get these with dinner. The customer service was great and the staff were friendly. Now they have a new owner and my family has become strongly disappointed. The pizza sauce has changed and leaves a weird aftertaste in my mouth. My daughter frequently wants chicken fingers with honey mustard sauce and the last 2 orders came with sauce that was expired. After the first expired sauce the restaurant was told to check the dates when the second order was placed. That apparently fell on deaf ears since the sauce we got was expired. We recently tried the new pizza restaurant directly across the street and will be taking our business there. They were amazing!
