What a gem! We have been wanting to stop and try this restaurant forever and finally met a friend there. The interior was nice - although we were hoping to sit outside but it was too cold out. The drink options were great- we got some ciders and ordered some Cuban food. I had the Cuban and it was fire. The real winner was the plantain chips- they were fresh, crispy, and perfectly salted. This is the saltiest food I've ever had. I had the shrimp with rice and beans, five shrimp with bowl of rice smothered in beans. We were disappointed that they were out of milk for our child and then served a child's apple juice in a mason jar. This was the first time I was given water without any ice. This place was outstanding!! We were traveling through Indiana and were pleasantly surprised by the delicious Cuban food! We had the Cuban sandwich, plantains, rice and beans and bread/butter appetizer. We were thoroughly impressed by the food, cleanliness and fun atmosphere. This place is a mixed message, in food, décor and service. I was taken here by fans of the restaurant who travel a half hour to eat here weekly. "Great Cuban food" was the description. I found very little Cuban in the décor or the food. It was trendy looking, clean and popular. It's feature was "tacos" which are not traditional Cuban faire. We enjoyed a crab dip with toast points as an appetizer, followed by shrimp tacos and flank steak tacos. The food was decent (not stellar) and seasoned gently. $10 for 3 "street" sized tacos was expensive compared to authentic taco houses. Thankfully the too hot sauce was served on the side. The seating was really off-putting, Simple metal high top stools on the bar side and metal seats with bars that dig into your behind at the lower tables and at the bar. I would not return to the restaurant simply for the discomfort. Very limited low table seating. We got a new and temporary waiter who knew nothing and did not add to the experience. By diner standards of small towns, the food was elevated; but by city standards with many talented chefs, the food was underwhelming, over-priced and mislabeled as "Cuban" when it was more "American New". Glad for the experience but doesn't need a second visit in my book. read more

We stopped in this week for our second visit, it was just as good as the first time! We had the smoked pork with beans and rice and the Flank Steak tacos. Both were awesome. Both meats were fall apart tender and the flavor was fantastic. I really enjoyed the shrimp appetizer. You can't go wrong here for a nice casual dinner. read more

We have been here several times eating in and ordering takeout and have never been disappointed. Our usual orders consist of the Cuban sandwich, flank steak tacos, black bean soup and the plantain chips with the sofrito mayo. We've also tried the shrimp tostones, the local cheese board, the pork roast, ham and cheese sandwich and the steak sandwich. Everything is delicious and authentic. If you're in the mood for dessert, the homemade guava cheesecake and flan are heavenly. They have a great selection of beer, wine and other spirits, my favorite being their mojito. Luis and Alissa have accommodated my family on a couple of different special occasions and everything was on point. They are doing a great job and are an asset to our community! read more

Easily the best place in Rochester. Support these folks if you like great dining. We've sampled several entrees, and they've all been fantastic. The shrimp sofrito is exquisite, as is the black bean soup. We don't normally order desserts, but let me assure you that the flan is to die for. You're missing out if you don't order it. The owners are nice, and any other foodies in this area really should come support this place. You won't regret it. Great outdoor patio with big space heaters, simply FYI. A nice alternative of something different in Rochester Indiana. Has bar seating (beer and wine), coffee house style conversation pit area, outdoor picnic tables, and a dining area. First visit was for "Taco Tuesday on Monday" night. We had delicious shrimp tacos that came with a Presidente beer for $10. The wine list was reasonable. We went back for lunch on a Saturday. The sandwiches were okay. I would definitely go back for the Taco night. Most restaurants are closed on Mondays so this is a good alternative. The wait staff was friendly as was the other patrons. Damn! This is an amazing find anywhere no less Rochester IN. The spirits list and cocktail menu is very impressive, of course leaning towards rum as expected. A fairly extensive selection of wines as well. I'm a beer guy and the draft selection is diverse. I love an IPA but it seems these days that's all that is offered, not so here. I chose a Burn 'em Cherry Gose that paired perfectly with my black bean tacos. Topped my meal off with a traditional flan that could have been the envy you of my Grandma's custard pie. Great place to go for something different! Love their Cuban hot dogs & Cuban sandwiches. Their black bean soup is better than the old Sportsman's on the Lake!
