amazing experience! this was my first time using sugar and i would do it again! the vibe was calm and i loved the owners energy so much.

This was my go to girl when she was off of Vermont. I went to the new location on Crenshaw and it's just not the same service anymore. The Good: To start there is no business signage on the front or any type of indication that this is " Uncovered LA" literally just an all black storefront, with blacked out windows and a black iron gate door. Once you walk in though, it is very nice and looks neat and clean. Max who usually does my waxing, is pleasant. She does small talk to catch up and tries give breaks to relieve you through the waxing process which can be painful. The bad: she doesn't use any type of protective barriers on the waxing table which i find very unhygienic. I remember she stopped investing in the paper roll that you use to cover the table similar to what they use in a doctor's office before you sit on the examination table. She started reusing towels instead which i still think is pretty unsanitary. She also use reuses wash cloths to wipe your sensitive areas down and that just freaks me out every time. I've never had someone reuse wash cloths always a fresh warmed wipe. I even thought about bringing my own supplies like I do at the nails salon to not get a fungal infection, but I shouldn't have to do all that. The Ugly: my last visit I unfortunately received a bad bacterial infection after getting a wax from Max. I remember her looking for a towel to put down on the table and couldn't find one and i was in a super rush to catch a flight later that day so i just had her wipe down the black waxing table with a sanitizer wipe and i got it done. She used this same white wash cloths as per usual to wipe me down afterwards. Later that day I started to feel uncomfortable "down there" and had discharge that hasn't stoped since I go back from my trip. When I got checked, I was told it was a bacterial infection and I wont go into to much details, but I find myself having to wear a pantie liner EVERYDAY which is something I've NEVER had to worry about before. I waited a long time to post this review because I didn't want to negatively impact her business, but this experience has really changed my life and the money that I have to constantly spend on liners was definitely not worth a $60 Brazilian wax. Needless to say, I was naïve and really should have voice my concerns, but what an expensive lesson to lean. Ladies please take care of your health and always speak up if something doesn't feel right to you especially when paying for a service. read more

Unlike honey waxing, this was mostly pain free. I do admit there was a part that made me jump a tad bit but definitely nothing compared to waxing. The place was super adorable. Well, my experience happened about a while ago , but I've never posted about it and while I was searching for the number of my new sugarist I thought I would finally say something after all this time. There's a rule where you can only cancel one appointment without charge, and I used mine when I had to cancel after going to a park and my legs were eaten alive by mosquitoes. I couldn't get them waxed the next day , and cancelled. Months later, I had at least 3 services booked but I had to remove one because I was running late. I was told I can get the rest of the services but I will be charged a $25 no show fee as well, when I asked "omg are you serious" , Max sent me the calculations of the total amount of money she is losing as me as a client from the first time I cancelled and this service I'm removing, and then told me I am no longer welcomed. That was CRAZY. I have never been a bad client before, and she definitely treated me like she didn't care about me as a client or satisfaction and had this weird business ego. That was one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a business, and even hesitated writing this review because I will get a passive aggressive response from her again. Oh well, I thought I'd say my piece. Also , I should mention, her partner was super nice. I can't remember her name. Great convos and made me feel welcomed. I've been seeing Max since she was in Inglewood and now she has a beautiful young lady named Jazmine working with her at this new location, which is huggeee and super cute. Ive been coming to my girl Max to get my sugar for 2 years now and let me tell you, I am NEVER looking back lol. She is soo sweet and makes me feel so comfortable. Her prices are super affordable and she gets the job done super quick. My brazilians on average take about 15-20 mins at most, and i've noticed waxing with sugar instead of hard wax makes pain way more tolerable. I wouldn't trade her for for the world!
