Railside RV Ranch (Williams, AZ) - June 13, 2023 We've…read morestayed at this RV park a few times before. It's about an hour south of the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, about an hour or so north of Sedona, and less than an hour west of Flagstaff. So it is nicely placed to do excursions. Also, since it's virtually impossible to get a campsite at the Grand Canyon, this RV park works out pretty well for us. Aside from the convenience of accessing other areas, the town of Williams itself is very charming. We always find there's plenty to do. It's less than a five minute drive from the RV site to the center of town where they have plenty of restaurants and gift shops to check out, a nice wine shop, and a couple of breweries. The town of Williams is part of the Route 66 Highway, and the town has a 50s/60s vibe to it, almost like a scene out of American Graffiti. One of our favorite things to do when we're here is go to Cruiser's Route 66 Cafe where you can get a smoked brisket sandwich, burger, and the like, as well as drinks from a full bar, as you listen to live music from talented local musician John Carpino, as he sings and plays acoustic guitar, harmonica, and percussion doing a variety of classic rock, country, and audience favorites. One of the things we really love about this park is they have a dog washing station. They also have a laundry mat. There is a Spa area that we've used in the past, but it was out of service this time around. Not sure why. Maybe it was a casualty of COVID. There is a train track terminal in the town of Williams, so there are occasional trains that go by the park taking passengers up to the Grand Canyon. We've never done the train ride, but that sounds like something fun to do. The point is, you'll hear some train noise sometimes in the middle of the night. Still not enough to knock my review below 5 stars. The WIFI is OK. We were actually able to stream some of our shows, but oftentimes, we would loose the signal. Again, still not enough to knock my review below 5 stars.

Unfortunately, we couldn't have a fire due to fire restrictions. However, we were able to bring our own gas-powered fire pit. I'm glad my husband checked the website a few days prior to our reservation, otherwise we wouldn't have known. It would be nice to get informed by email if you have a reservation about fire restrictions, because if we didn't bring our blackstone to make our food, I would have been very upset. Before arriving, I did some research on the black bear shack that our friends told us about, but sadly found out they are not at this campground anymore. The road coming in is extremely bumpy and rough. When leaving the campground, I recommend going left instead of right. Our cars needed a very good car wash after! The campground is very beautiful. The weather was perfect; in the 50s at night and high 70s in the afternoon. I would definitely camp here again.

Admission is $30/adult. I bought my tickets online and taxes and fees were about $15. So completely worth it. We opted to drive thru once, then parked to use their restrooms which were clean and well stocked. Then we drove through one more time before they closed that section--last car through at 4pm and the park closes at 5:30pm. The second time we went through, they had just fed all the animals so they were super active! They'll come right up to your car, which can feel a little intimidating. That's the closest I ever want to be to a bear or a wolf! They have the animal areas themed and everything is so cute! The walk through exhibits are great as well. Amazing gift shop. So cool to watch the grizzlies as well. If you're ever in Williams, AZ, I cannot recommend checking this place out more! You will not regret it!

Want to see a bison, wolf or bear up close and personal? Come to Bearizona!…read more This is part drive through park/zoo and part walk about zoo. You stay in your car to pay your admission, and you are then let through an entrance gate type thing. You drive past mountain goats/Dall sheep, deer, donkeys, and other not-so-scary animals. As you make your way through the park, you pass through multiple cordoned off areas, each with different animals: multiple bear species, wolves, and bison, to name a few. When in THESE particular areas, you are required to have all your windows up and your sun/moon roof closed for your safety. It's normally bumper to bumper, so you get to be in this part of the park a fairly decent amount of time. At one point, you drive out into a prairie area where the bison are, and you can stay out there longer, as even though there is a "road" you stay on, others can drive around you if they want to get a move on. After seeing all of these big animals, you pass through another gate and into a parking lot. You can either leave the premises, or park and go into the walking zoo. In this portion are smaller animals like eagles, otters, turkey, badgers....mostly North American wildlife. However, there is an area with jaguars in it. There a few small places to get a souvenir or a soda, and then there is the very VERY large gift shop. The gift shop has a large restaurant in it (we didn't go in), and a few small rooms that act like a museum of sorts. Also throughout, in various sneaky areas are large cages/tanks with animals in them like snakes. The gift shop carries just about anything you can imagine from the typical logo shirts to animal themed toys and post cards. But then, it carries other things like hand made pottery mugs and pocket knives. Overall, this was a neat place to visit. You can tell the animals are well cared for, and all enclosures are clean and mimic the animals' natural habitats quite nicely. Each one has a nice amount of space and places for the animals to escape the view of guests when they want to. Bearizona is located almost exactly across from AZ-64 North, the main road to Grand Canyon National Park, just a short drive from Flagstaff. 14/2026

As we entered there was a LOT of wear and tear visible, completely filthy air filter. Shower was degrading, toilet paper holder had been ripped off the wall and half way patched. One of the bunk beds had a stain/spill down the side and you could see the accumulation of dirt/debris. The ac read 86 and was blinking red. The whole place felt dirty and uncomfortable and gave us the impression we wouldn't be sleeping without a few crawling friends. Within 5 minutes of checking in we went to the front desk and they were adamant about their no refund policy and stated "what did you expect from a train car" well for $198 for one night I guess we expected more than they were willing to provide. I could not recommend this less. Their minimal pictures do NOT show you what you are signing up for.
