Great experience meeting with foster Kris today at her foster puppy paradise and adopting a pup. Such a clean and stimulating and loving environment for all the pups there. The adoption process was so simple and easy and our sweet girl is getting used to her new pack :)

Underdog is amazing! Just adopted my Haley this past weekend. Her foster Mom Shelley was great and answered all my questions and then some. I would highly recommend Underdog Animal Rescue

We had the best experience adopting our beloved fur child, Rocky, through Underdog Rescue. As anyone who's gone through the process of adopting a dog can attest, it can be time-consuming and at times pretty frustrating when you submit application after application for dogs only to hear crickets. We were beginning to wonder if we'd ever get a pup of our own. I saw Rocky (then Parker) on Underdog's IG and immediately submitted an application. We had a phone interview with his foster and then set up a meet and greet. Once we met Rocky and decided he was the right pup for us, the process moved very quickly and we were able to take him home a few days later. The family who fostered Rocky were terrific, too, and we still get together so our dogs can play. I'd highly recommend Underdog Rescue to anyone looking to adopt!

Underdog helped me find my furry soulmate. I've had Joy for 3 years now, and I'm so glad that Underdog saved her from her situation. When I first adopted Joy I was very nervous, wondering if I'd be good parent to her. The foster mom, Kris, eased my concerns and told me that I could "trial" having Joy for a week or two before officially adopting her. Just to make sure she was a good fit for my life, and I for hers. That little extension of grace was all it took. By the end of the first week, I knew I couldn't live without her. She was very shy and timid when I first got her, but she bonded to me within a couple of days. I'm so glad Underdog was patient with me, and allowed me the time to make the decision after having spent some time with her. Thank you, Underdog! I appreciate you and the work you do to help save dogs who need a better life.

I am so happy with our experience with Underdog (we foster failed our foster dog)!! Amanda (The head of this rescue) really helped us with the process and provided all the necessary items we needed since we were first time fosters. Amanda gave us tips, answered all questions, made Vet appt, and more! Amanda is so compassionate for dogs that after COVID came, she started operating the rescue at her house in her front yard. She saves many dogs and gets them from far away shelters. I would REALLY recommend Underdog for those who are interested in adopting a dog!

From the start it was so easy working with Underdog Animal Rescue. Their mission holds true and what really impressed me was their application process. Saving so many dogs from a death sentence is admirable and commendable. They truly want to make sure the pet is going to a loving and caring home. I met Otis at his foster family, from the moment we met him we knew he was the one. He is now in his new forever home and fitting it perfectly. The pictures speak for themselves. If you are looking for new addition to your family, I highly recommend Underdog Animal Rescue.

Found our little nugget, Harper, online through Underdog. They seem to take very good care of the animals and are very caring. Harper was very happy and healthy and already spayed with some of her shots. She was a very well-adjusted pup and we just love her to pieces.

We can not recommend Underdog Rescue enough! We knew we wanted to adopt for many years, and when we recently moved into the right place in Walnut Creek we started our pup search! We adopted Benji in November and he has brought us so much joy and made our family full! The Underdog team and fosters are absolutely amazing, they were so patience with us answering our many questions, are supportive and so compassionate! We are so grateful to everyone who had a part in taking care of Boo/Benji along the way, he has clearly been so very loved throughout his journey. We are incredibly blessed to be Benjis forever family, and we can't wait for all of the adventures together ahead! We love Underdog, if you are looking for a pup please have this rescue at the top of your list!!

Underdog Animal Rescue is amazing! I adopted Myles (Aka Beans) a few years ago. They really make sure that the dogs are a perfect fit and don't just adopt to anyone. I still follow Underdog Animal Rescue on social media and love all the adoption updates. I would highly recommend If you are looking to add a furbaby to your family, Underdog Animal Rescue is the place to go.

    1st meeting...love at first sight!

We were exasperated trying to find a rescue dog to adopt; filled out a dozen applications and never heard "boo". I know it is a busy time for rescue organizations and it's great that they have so much demand, but when you spend an hour filling out an application and send pictures of your home, etc., it would be nice to get some acknowledgement. Enter Underdog! They responded almost immediately that they had received our application, and then within 2 days we had a call from a foster family about a possible adoption. When that didn't work out the foster mom became our advocate and continued to communicate with us and point us toward other possible adoptions within the organization. We soon got another call which ultimately led to our newest member of the family! I can't say enough about how wonderful Underdog is to deal with; they not only care about the dogs they rescue, but they care about the families who want to adopt rescue dogs. We are so grateful for their service and will continue to support them going forward!

I was met with open arms and open dialogue from the beginning. I had the pleasure of connecting with Megan thru underdog, what a pleasure!! Open, honest and thorough. Underdog is the 4th organization that I've reached out to, and the only one that actually contacted me back. Megan sent me a few pics of pups and didn't think they would be a good fit, having young kids and cats already. I believed and trusted her. I saw a dog on IG that looked so cool! I asked Megan and him and she passed my application on to Lisa, I'm so thankful too. We met with Lisa and our future dog Roscoe!! Lisa was wonderful just as Megan was and is. I couldn't be more satisfied with the help and guidance by both Megan and Lisa. Thank you so much!!!!

Underdog allowed us to find our darling rescue, Rue! The application process (even in the midst of Covid-19) was straightforward and we were quickly connected to Rue's foster mom who was so informative, helpful, and welcoming. His foster mom was extremely communicative, which we really appreciated. We were provided with photos, videos, and even a FaceTime session before deciding to meet and eventually commit to adopting our pup. Thank you Underdog Rescue, we couldn't be more in love with Rue!

We adopted a senior sweetie a few months ago from Underdog. Everyone we met from the organization was just awesome, organized and passionate about giving dogs a second chance. Our 10 year old dog is the light of our lives, he's just the BEST. Thank you Underdog, and your incredible volunteers.

I drove up to Lafayette so excited and MaryAnn was so wonderful! She was so great and took her time answering all my questions. After deciding that I was ready to take her home, MaryAnn accompanied me to the pet store to make sure I got all of Lulu's food etc. and to top it off I got a discount at Pet Food Express! I took Lulu home and I was super excited. She was so sweet and full of energy and did not want to leave my sight. She had separation anxiety & leash aggression that I got very overwhelmed. I was so overwhelmed that I called MaryAnn crying asking if I can give her back because I felt I couldn't give Lulu what she wanted me too. She was so understanding and she advised me to give Lulu another chance and this was all so new to Lulu and she was just as scared as I was. So I listened to MaryAnn's advise and I gave that precious little dog another chance. One year later I'm the most happiest person ever. She is the best little thing that could have happened to me. We go on runs together, many many walks, does well with other dogs. Lulu also gets to come to work with me and she's one of the most friendliest dogs in our office. She loves people and people adore her. I couldn't of done it without MaryAnn's help. Thank you so much MarryAnn! I can't believe it's almost been a year!

Meara, a 1 year old black cat was on the website and I was drawn to her so I went to meet her in person. It was Saturday and it was busy! Sandy was the only one working with cat adoptions that day and she was running! To be clear there were a ton of staff and volunteers, it was just busy. Sandy was friendly about the wait even as some other lady was being hella rude to her, mean people suck. Moving on. I filled out the visitor paperwork and liability release to meet her and looked at other animals while I waited. So many animals need forever homes! All different kinds of dogs and cats and some other animals too! Room after room of dogs, it's not time for 1 more dog at my house just yet but when it is, this is where I will be watching for her. When Cindy got to me she was so sweet and cared so much for all the cats. She knew specifics about Meara, she had obviously spent time with her. I filled out her paperwork and 25$ and an hour and a half later we were on our way home. The animals here have been seen by the vet, have their shots, have been neutered/spayed and have been chipped. If you are considering getting a new pet, or fostering one definitely look here first. I feel like it's the way to go for sure.

We weren't looking to get a new kitty so soon, but Dharma was in the back of the store and she was very sweet. They let us play with her and our dog was with us, so we took turns being near Dharma and allowing our dog (who loves our cats) to see her from a distance. All went well. We learned that she had been in the store for a while and had a rough life before she was taken to the shelter. Fast forward to today--she cuddles with my husband who has been very ill and she is his best friend. She learned how to win over the resident cat (with lots of time and some help), and she and our Husky and best friends. She's earned the nickname Drama because she's very good at getting into mischief. The support information from Hopalong was useful. We've had cats our entire lives and still each cat is unique. Having resources at hand is great! The people at Woodland Pet were very helpful in vetting us to make certain that we would be a good, safe home for Dharma and that she would be happy with us. They sent us home with supplies and toys. Because of their continued interest, our dog and I go back to show them photos of Drama earning her nickname.

We adopted her from the shelter when she was two and she lived all the way to fifteen. She was everything to us. After she passed, we waited a while before feeling ready to adopt again. In the meantime, I followed a ton of Bay Area rescue groups on Instagram and checked the Petfinder app regularly. We knew we were drawn to flat-faced breeds, but the most important thing was finding a dog that could get along with our two cats. We actually found a Frenchie through another rescue and even went to meet him at an adoption event. Unfortunately, his foster parent said he didn't do well with other dogs and probably not with cats either. That was a dealbreaker for us. About a month later, during the week of July 4, I came across Sally Sitwell (now renamed Winnie) on Petfinder. Her profile mentioned that she was good with cats, and she sounded perfect for us. I applied right away but didn't hear back for a few days, so I was worried she might have already been adopted. But I totally understood since it was a holiday week and I'm sure they received a ton of applications. Eventually, I got an email from Ruthie, a volunteer, to schedule a 1:1 phone interview. She was really warm and easy to talk to. She explained that she usually handles phone interviews for people interested in brachycephalic breeds since she has experience with them. I shared our story about our late pug and everything we went through with her including surgeries, seizures, and IVDD, and Ruthie could tell we were familiar with the breed's needs. She planned to coordinate a meeting with us, the dog, and the foster parent, but she was going to be out of town. So she looped in Alex from Hopalong and Francesca, the foster mom, so we could set something up directly. We coordinated a visit to meet Winnie at Hopalong in Oakland. I really appreciated how flexible and communicative everyone was. It felt like everyone genuinely wanted the best for this dog. When I first met Francesca and Winnie, I lit up. Winnie was even more adorable in person and so much smaller than I expected. Francesca was such a kind person. She already had a Frenchie and cats, so you could tell she really loves animals. She walked us through all of Winnie's little quirks and her daily routine. A few minutes later my partner arrived and I ran out to get him. I told him right away, "You're going to love her, she's so adorable." The moment he walked in and saw her, he was smiling ear to ear. We ended up spending about 30 minutes with Francesca, chatting and also sharing more about ourselves so she'd feel reassured that Winnie would be going to a loving home. Toward the end of our visit, Alex, the program manager, came out to meet us. She was super bubbly and also a Frenchie owner. We let her know we were all in and wanted to move forward with the adoption. We asked if we could pick Winnie up the next day since we had a bunch of supplies being delivered like her crate, food, and bowls. Francesca was so accommodating and let us come to her house the next day to get her. The whole experience was amazing. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. There were no awkward moments and we felt supported from start to finish. I would recommend this rescue to anyone. Now Winnie is completely spoiled. We originally planned to have her sleep in her crate but that lasted exactly one night. She's now in the bed with us. She's been to the dog park, joined us on restaurant patios, come to work with me, and even had a few spa days. After hearing about her rough start to life, being used for breeding and then dropped off at the Hayward animal shelter, we knew we wanted to give her the best life possible. She is truly the sweetest, most loving dog we could have asked for. We're so grateful to everyone at Marin Humane + Hopalong for bringing her into our lives.
