The dogs available to adopt from this rescue have been in homes like mine and have had a chance to decompress from shelter life and adapt to life inside a home. What makes K9 Paw Print different from other rescues is their unique and compassionate mission - to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home abandoned, abused, stray and neglected animals, needing medical help, or just need a little extra help before becoming adoptable. I've adopted 2 dogs from this rescue. One little one had been mauled by a larger dog and eventually became a tripod because of it. The other was surrendered by a homeless woman who couldn't afford medical care for her dog. Not only did the group pull both of these dogs from the shelter, but paid all their medical expenses. The two may not have made it out without K9 Paw Print Rescue. I am grateful every day for these pups and this group. The tripod went on to become a pet hug pack pup at Tony LaRussa's ARF and is a visiting therapy dog for hospice patients. And the other pup is happy and healthy and loving. We adopted our little guy, Manley (formerly Duke), from K9 Paw Print Rescue and had an excellent experience. When we first saw him online, we reached out to the organization and they were incredibly communicative and even made time for us to meet the dog later that day (we were driving from SF to Antioch to meet him). We met with the adoption coordinator and his foster parents. He was obviously very loved and cared for, as it was clear he had bonded with his foster parents. We were immediately head over heels in love with him, but we knew that he had met 4 other families that week who might also want him. The application we filled out was thorough, and they carefully checked our references. While it was agonizing waiting to hear their decision, we really appreciated the level of thought and the careful consideration they put into finding the right home for the rescue dogs. Thankfully, they chose us! And we were thrilled! They provided us with nearly everything we needed to take him home, as well as a thoughtful letter with his schedule and habits and even a homemade blanket for comfort. They told us in the beginning what to expect from him - he has some separation anxiety that needed addressing and has a lot of energy. We were thankful that they were so upfront. He is doing much better now thanks, in part, to K9's follow-up advice and care, along with classes and socialization. Both the adoption coordinator and his foster parents have been extremely communicative and helpful as we navigate our lives with a new member of the family. They have given us excellent advice regarding his anxiety and training. We are so grateful to K9 Paw Prints Rescue for picking up Manley from the shelter, giving him a second chance, and providing him with so much love and care until we could find each other. read more

I lost my Rottweiler/German Shepherd dog to cancer recently and I was looking to adopt another dog to fill that gaping hole in my heart. I had my dog for 8 years and it was the hardest decision of my life to euthanize my baby. I saw a puppy online on K9PPR's website. His name was Scooby which was also the name of the dog I lost. I immediately thought that it was a sign and I needed to adopt Scooby. I filled out the application and after multiple attempts to contact this organization a lady finally gave me a call and interviewed me to see if I was a good fit for the dog and she came to the conclusion that I was. I got called again by the same lady and during the conversation I felt very insulted. First of all, she said that my name, Inderpreet, was too hard for her to pronounce and she needed a nickname for me. I told her to call me by my last name, Singh, as I do not have a nickname. Then she went on to insult my mother by presuming that she did not speak English. Another lady called me a few days later and told me that I could not keep the dog in the backyard at all and he had to stay inside all the time and I needed to build a "doggy door" for him. After discussing this with my family I agreed to keep Scooby inside and told her that I was ready to adopt him. She then rudely told me that it's not about me and it's about the dog and she had other applicants. That's where I lost it and I told her that I'm not interested in the puppy anymore and she could go ahead and consider those "other applicants". I am an American citizen that works at a hospital and serves American people on a daily basis. I do not deserve to be treated like this. I now have a beautiful 2 months old Rottweiler who I can raise the way I raised all my dogs without a random lady on the phone telling me what to do. read more

I filled out an application right then. I had recently moved into a new house and they made sure my house and backyard would be safe for my new family member. I had never owned a dog before so they were very helpful to what I needed to do as far as regular vet visits, continued training, and socializing her. I also appreciate the fact that they take on dogs with medical issues because every dog deserves a second chance even at great cost to them. I love this rescue. I contacted them looking for help when I found a big pit bill sitting in the middle of nowhere in Pittsburg. While they (understandably) were unable to take him in at the time due to overcrowding, they were able to check him for a microchip and direct me to a great vet for neutering and vaccines (and we ultimately adopted him). They were so informative and helpful, so much so that I contacted the owner, Tiffany, again when my parents were looking to add 2 cats to the family. Despite being a mainly dog rescue, Tiffany and the rest of her team were happy to help. They took the time to get to know me and my family and what kind of household we had, so that they could match us up with the right kind of fur babies--rather than just picking out whoever the cutest was. They had an answer for every question, which ended up being the same answers the vet gave us later (who they also referred us to as they got fixed for us before adoption was complete). The cats had no behavioral issues other than of course, being a little shy at first which is understandable after being in a scary shelter. I should also mention that Tiffany did a behavioral test on the pit bull that we found. I was a little scared to bring him into our home at first (not because of his breed but because he was so large, and I have cats of my own) and she gave me tons of great advice that I followed--and determined from his behavioral test that he should be safe with cats. Which he was--in fact, if anything, he was scared of them! Being an animal person, I've talked to a lot of rescues before and this is one of my favorites. You can tell the people who volunteer with this rescue truly care. I would highly recommend contacting them, even if they don't currently have a pet on their site that you are looking for, as they can most likely find what you're looking for in a shelter whether it's a certain breed, age, temperament etc--or in my case, a great cat! I know I'll be going back to them again when the time comes for me to adopt another fur baby. 10 stars to this rescue if I could. read more

This organization is the best! Everyone is very helpful and friendly, and the foster "parents" obviously love their fosters! They take good care of the dogs at events, making sure the dogs are comfortable and warm (or cool) with the weather. They take great care in matching dogs to loving, suitable homes. You have to fill out an application with details such as what you'll do with the dog when you're at work, what will happen if you move, etc, and if you already have a dog, you have to have them meet the potential adoptee to make sure they get along. These people really care, and I highly recommend them if you're in the market for a fur baby! read more

We rescued a dog that had been thrown into the kill shelters. She was rescued by This group and she was adopted out to a lady who could "not handle her" the rescue took her back and put her back in the same Foster home. We then applied to adopt her and it was the best decision we have ever made. We have been without a dog for 15 yrs and never thought we would EVER have a dog again. We met her foster parents and were so impressed with them and the rescue. Bella is the best dog we have EVER had! She was completely potty trained and we were told of every flaw she had ( she had a couple but within weeks they were gone). She is so easily trained, we have taught her so many tricks! She is the most loveable dog imaginable. She wants to cuddle a lot ( I think that all these wonderful traits she has are because of her fosters) . I would not hesitate to adopt another pet from this rescue. They were completely up front with us and we're very professional and their follow through was very good. They did a house check and were very particular of where their pets were being adopted out to. They pointed out things that needed to be changed in our backyard to make it more safe. We had to sign a contract as to the dos and don'ts. I will never get another dog unless it is a rescue! This is our first but it won't be our last if anything should happen to our dog. I adopted my dog a little min pin, Forrest, who came to the rescue with many medical issues. He was injured, sick and at the shelter. He had an injured eye with fox tails in it! They took so much time to go over everything during the adoption which was a process to make sure he was ready for us. They also went over all the do's and dont's, what to expect, and how to best prepare for the adjustment period with our new baby. They took such great care of my baby and spent what must have been over a thousand or two to get him well. For the adoption, they only asked for a donation of $200 and he was healthy, fixed, had a microchip already and shots which alone cost hundreds for my other dogs. Thank god for rescue people who dedicate themselves to helping animals. They have even been great about giving direction with any behavior or training questions that I have. They have gone above and beyond to care for my baby before I adopted him. I saw a few dogs there where I met my boy and there was a dog with his eye removed and one missing a leg. I think it is awesome that they are helping these poor babies out. They were very easy to work with and supportive. The adoption coordinator was very thorough and explained everything to me during the adoption process. I will most definitely be adopting from this rescue again in the future! We submitted an application, however we were never contacted regarding our application. We were not only upset that we did not get the opportunity to adopt the lil girl but was later informed that the dog has already been adopted. So I would recommend contacting the organization prior to submitting an application so you do get your hopes up! K9 Paw Print is the best rescue ever. I got my wonderful pup through them in August of 2013. They rescued him from the pound and from what I understand he was about to be killed because he was too nervous and the pound didn't think he could be re-homed. He was fostered by two different K-9 volunteers who absolutely fell in love with him. He was initially adopted by a family where I guess things didn't work out. He was lonely, the lady worked all day, he tore up furniture, barked etc. She surrendered him back to K-9 who again fostered him until a new fur-ever family could be found. Well....a friend of mine recommended these folks so I spoke with them many times....they were so patient with me. I then met the pup they recommended for me and fell in love with the little guy. K-9 and two if their volunteers then came to my home with the little guy to do an introduction with my dogs. I had two dogs at the time, both a lot bigger then this little guy. Well they all fell in love and about 6 months ago I added another rescue dog and everybody is happy. I can not say enough good things about K-9. I would highly recommend them. I purchased a dog from K9 Paw Print Rescue and was EXTREMELY disappointed with my experience. The dog they advertised was nothing like the dog I adopted. The picture they had was of a Shih-Tzu mix happily romping toward the camera. In the picture, they dog had 2 eyes and they bio said she was frisky and loved to travel in the car and would "call shotgun every time!" When I contacted K9 Paw Print, they informed me that this dog's eye had to be removed due to a severe infection. I was fine with that because I know a rescue dog usually has a story of neglect. They told me that they believed the dog to be about 4 years old. When I got her home, I quickly realized that she couldn't hear! I know this breed has a tendency to "pretend" they can't hear you so we did some tests making loud noises behind her and there was nothing... no head turn... no motion... nothing to indicate she could hear. When I took her to my vet he said she had recently had a litter (something I noticed when I viewed the dog but the rescue center people acted like they didn't know what I was talking about) and he would estimate her to be 8 years old at the youngest! We also noticed an extreme lack of mobility which would indicate an older dog. We have kept this little girl. We love her to death and she has a forever home with us; however, I was not looking for a senior dog and I felt completely misled by this entire experience. When I informed them of their misleading information on the website and that our dog was nothing like what they represented, they seemed complacent about it. I don't know if it is a habit to put up misinformation on their website, but I had to write a review to help others be aware that this happened to me. I have dealt with other rescue centers in the past and always had good experiences. I will not be using this rescue center again. read more
