The weather was perfect with a pretty strong surge during the second dive. We couldn't have asked for a better crew. AJ was a great dive master and worked his tail off in ensuring our equipment was safe and we had a great experience. He explained everything thoroughly. Our boat captain was a hoot too! We dived with a group of six so that was perfect. We stayed in Ko Olina so we liked the fact that we didn't have to drive into Honolulu. Amazing. If you want an authentic, fun, and safe experience open water diving, Underwater Oahu is the way to go. We came out for an introductory dive. We did two different dives with Mike. The first was a wreckage, the second was a reef. Mike was professional and gave a brief over view of the equipment. He stayed by our sides the entire time and let us dive at our own pace. The dive was so much fun that we came back for our open ocean certification. We signed up and were assigned Bart as our Instructor! We spent the first lesson in his pool where he went over several different exercises. Then we did 2 walk in dives at Electric beach. The last day of the course we did two dives in open ocean. Bart was professional, knowledgable, and encouraging. He repeated exercises until my husband and I were comfortable with performing them. He took us through a cavern tunnel, and showed us octopuses, turtles, and various other marine life. I left his class feeling confident in my abilities as a diver and excited to continue my diving adventures! We saw something cool and new on all 6 dives, and we heard Whales while at electric beach then saw them the next day. Underwater Oahu is military friendly. Mike and the staff at Underwater Oahu are the best. He strikes the perfect balance of maintaining an "island chill" vibe while running an elite diving operation with safety at top of mind. I was nervous because it was my 11 and 13 yo daughters first post certification dive. Mike showed up with an escort diver that was great with kids and also a marine biologist. Are you kidding me? We had two great dives that kicked off my kids' diving career great. The rental equipment selection was a breeze. The normal challenges of any dive trip were handled with grace. We got in the water with a strong current but there were ropes on the surface to go down easily, and Mike navigated the group at the bottom expertly. Then there were the awesome turtles, octopus, eels, swim through rock formations, etc. It was an all around perfect diving experience. We'll be back. read more

My wife and I did our certification dives with Mike at Underwater Oahu. This dive shop had super friendly and knowledgeable staff who managed their operation with ease and fun. Also: Mike has an incredible eye for spotting wildlife. I'm not sure how he does it, but mid-conversation he'd point out turtles and dolphins from land with his peripheral vision. While diving, his aquaman instincts brought us to a reef shark, eels, lionfish, and an octopus. The dive sites we went to were varied and beautiful (2 reefs and a wreck). They are local, friendly and did a great Job...They worked with me to get as many dives as possible in the one day I had available! 2 tank boat dive and a one tank shore dive. They were all beautiful and amazing. I love underwater geography. At Makaha we did tunnels, and arches that were super fun! These guys are a small operation. The gear is in good shape and their setup is great. The only downside about being a small operation is that you have to bring your own camera, no onboard photographer. Travis and Laci, our dive master and instructor respectively, were awesome. The boat was a small dive boat but fit the 13 of us very comfortably. I did two dives and the dive sites were very different. The first one we did was called airplane canyon, a private plane wreck about 90ft deep. The second dive was a shallow reef dice with a lot of fish, a shark and an octopus. Even if you've never done it before, I recommend it, they offer discover scuba experiences- you can go diving with an instructor even if you aren't certified. The shop is hidden away a bit, no signs for "Underwarer Oahu", but it's in the same building as the spinner cafe. read more

First boat dive trip. Recently certified with my son. The staff was friendly and helpful with advice. Also rented snorkels and other gear for the rest if the family. Travis was awesome - expert, friendly and made the dive experience something to remember. And when my mask broke he rigged a repair that lasted another 45 minute dive. And another dive master rescued a GoPro than got away from me. Nice group of people all around. Very happy to have found this outfit. Family who live on the island recommended them. Diving is fun...but be realistic, it can be dangerous. I'm glad to have had a recommendation from a highly respected diver to seek Patrick. There is much you must learn on your own but if you want the benefit of learning from a professional diver and good guy...well, Patrick doesn't take shortcuts... This dive shop gave us a great combination of wreck dive at a downed Korean War era landing craft, followed by the reefs off of Makaha Beach. We mentioned that my wife was a little nervous about the equipment, because she hadn't been underwater in over six months, and their employee Travis took us under his wing and made absolutely certain that she felt comfortable. Best word to describe this business is Unprofessional. Patrick could careless about you as a customer and only wants your money. Their equipment is below average, again to save money. Have done 3 dives with them, each time something has gone wrong. Careless mistakes were made, and they have never once tried to correct them or apologize. If your going to go diving in Oahu, stay as far away from Patrick's diving adventure as possible. There are tons of other great dives shops on the island, you don't need to waste your time with this one. read more
