I had such an incredible experience with Hawaii Adventure Diving! My friends and I went snorkeling with Galapagos sharks, and I honestly can't say enough good things about the entire experience. I was SUPER nervous going into it. This was my first time being out in open water like that, and I've always been terrified of sharks. But our guides, Lauren, Megan, and Terry, were absolutely amazing. You can immediately tell how passionate they are about the ocean and about educating people rather than just taking them out on an excursion. They explained everything so clearly, answered our questions, and made me feel safe and comfortable enough to actually get into the water. Once I did, I'm so glad I pushed past my fear! What a bad ass experience to do in Hawaii! We did the shark diving excursion (no cage), and we actually saw a tiger shark (along with a couple galapagos sharks) ! The crew was very helpful and made sure we felt very safe to do it. We hung on to a rope connected to the boat and just went with the waves. We went out on a choppy morning, so the only downside was some got seasick from the waves. Im glad we didn't do the cage cause I imagine we be tossed around with the waves. Other than that, it was super awesome. Only 6 of us went out so it was a nice small group. The photographer was great (see photographs - cost extra for the photos), the gal who took us out was very directive and could read the sharks body vibe so she knew how to guide us. My daughter and I went on this tour on Monday. I had a full blown panic attack prior to getting in the water (tears included). Stacey, the captain, makes the 2-3 mile ride off shore feel like a smooth ride while you get to watch the beautiful Hawaiian mountains come further into view ( bring a camera, it's gorgeous). Terry, the photographer, only charges like $75 for the photos he takes, and he makes you look like you've been diving for years. He was extremely patient as he taught some of the other guests how to dive under water so he could get the best shots. ( Seriously, for $75 he will make you the coolest person on your friend group) Luka, one of the safety divers on board makes you feel extremely comfortable in the water and legitimately put his body in between myself and the tiger shark multiple times ( no, I wasn't in danger) but seeing him take the time to pay attention and do that made the dive feel even more comfortable. Absolutely unreal experience shark diving without a cage in Hawaii. One of the most adrenaline pumping and surreal things I've ever done. Being that close to sharks in open water was both terrifying and insanely beautiful at the same time. This was such an amazing experience, glad we chose the open dive with the sharks instead of the cage. The staff, Meghan, Stacy and Ro were very knowledgeable and passionate about the sharks which made me very eager to get into the water to se them up close, and form the minute I got into the water, we got to see plenty of sharks during our whole time in the water, to include the much anticipated tiger shark, which thankfully came around several times and graced us with her presence. We went in the 7:00am tour and I highly recommend that time slot since the water was relatively calm, the water clear and no one else around to create unnecessary wake. Going with Hawaii adventure diving is a no brainer. There's max 6 people per trip which allows for calmer setting. I enjoyed the trip tremendously. In fact, we were able to encounter a tiger shark even though it was not tiger shark season (what a blessing). The divers swimming with us handled (redirecting) the sharks well especially when the tiger sharks got a little too close for comfort. The divers are pro at what they do. The yellow rope in the water gives a needed boundaries of where we need to be. I recommend getting the earliest slot since I hear that's when the waves are the calmest. I signed up for my second shark dive to compare and get an idea of what was a particular company and what was just the industry. You can see the same sharks and have such a wildly different experience. We got more time, 2 tiger sharks, and an experienced team that was very aware of everything going on, but they didn't drive the sharks away when they approached. I felt 100% safe as Nick and his team redirected sharks as needed, and with the rope, I was able to see everything without being squished, without fins in my face all the time. I love our experience diving with Danny Sammy and the crew at Hawaii Adventure Diving. They prefer small groups to maximize your experience out in the water. I went with my friend and we were relatively amateur to limited experience snorkelers. The team was really helpful laying out the details of how to get everything on and what to do while in the water. It was tiger season while we went and we're able to see plenty of sharks at a close but safe distance where they weren't coming right up to your face. But throughout our hour dive in the water we felt i full control with our safety divers. Also, the difference with Hawaii adventure diving from other companies is the ability to get high quality photos underwater of your experience from their diving team. I haven't seen the photos from my trip yet but from of the others photos I've seen they look incredible. I would highly recommend this business for a once in a lifetime experience. read more

Swimming in the deep blue sea around sharks was THE HIGHLIGHT of our recent Hawaii trip! I found this company on Groupon. They will accept the Groupon rate so you can purchase directly thru them! I called to ensure the date I wanted was available and spoke to a friendly woman to book my trip. From beginning to end, I received great customer service! This excursion allows for 3 people minimum, 6 people maximum not including the boat crew. The FREE parking lot and dock area were easy to find thanks to the very detailed confirmation email with a photo of a map included. Our small group of 4 (my fiancée and I plus 2 others) were greeted by Drew and Daniel. They explained everything and were open for any questions. The boat ride was about 20 minutes. Daniel stayed on board looking out at us while Drew swam with us. There is a bright yellow rope in the water that is attached to the boat to prevent the strong current from sweeping us away! I think it's important to have some swimming skills! I know they have life vests on board, but unsure if they hand 'em out to keep you afloat while out in the water with the sharks. I can't put into words how AWESOME it was to swim so close to SHARKS! My fiancée now has a new perspective on sharks because he used to be terrified of them! They never got too close for comfort and I never felt unsafe at any time... especially with Drew swimming nearby and Drew looking out from the boat. The time flew so fast, so enjoy every second you can while in the water! We brought our GoPros and got some amazing footage! Make sure you secure all your stuff and don't drop anything because the water is about 300 feet deep! We only saw Galapagos sharks, but it was still such an unbelievable experience. My fiancée and I could have sworn we saw a different kind of shark that was further away! A girl on our tour and I also spotted a long looking fish which could have been a barracuda! NOTE: I have always had veryyy bad sea sickness! I tried to come prepared with a prescription nausea patch and Dramamine, but they don't have anything on the North Shore waves! The boat literally rocked like a rocking chair so yes, I did feed the sharks my breakfast at the end of the trip! Snorkeling equipment is available for free, a shower / hose is available on the boat and on the dock, and restrooms are available in the parking area. The restroom was still locked upon our arrival at 7:30am, but was opened when we returned around 9:30am. I would super highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a different, fun adventure in Hawaii! read more

I have booked twice with this company. They are very professional and I felt very safe in the water. Saw lots of Galapagos Sharks and the can very close to the surface. One almost sneaked up behind me but Sava was there to gently guide the shark away. There was a lot excitement in the water that day. The highlight for me on the second trip wasn't the sharks, but watching Ahi hunting near the surface and rounding up the bait. We saw the bait forming into a ball so close to us. I know this was special and the crew confirmed this! So happy to have a different experience the second time. Haven't been in the water with a tiger shark yet...is a third time truly a charm? This place is easy to find using the confirmation email that they send you. The Captain and crew were right on time Stacy is an awesome guide. Free diving with sharks in their environment, this is a once in a lifetime experience and you should not be scared. You can rent a GoPro from them or you can bring your own. I would just make sure that it had some type of flotation and a lanyard attached to it. I had a full group of 6 people. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes to get to the site. If you are apt to get sea sick then it would not hurt to take some motion sickness meds before you go. The crew is very knowledgeable, they knew exactly how to bring out the sharks. In addition to the resident barracuda, We had about 4 swimming in our area. At no time were any of us in danger. Well, not in danger of the sharks. A couple of guys in our group got stung pretty bad by a man o' war. They lived though. The excursion lasted about an hour and we were back at the dock. Remember your towel and also, full face masks are not allowed on this tour. So leave at home or in the hotel. You will have to use theirs. Be on the look out, they do have the occasional Groupon special. I would have loved to see more sharks, but they have no control over that. I am glad that we were able to see some. read more
