My daughter has been a student here for a couple years and she has improved greatly! The location isn't too bad. The only downside is that parking can suck depending if there's an event happening at the community center. The staff at Leahi is amazing. Ashley, who works the front desk almost always and helps with registration is amazing. She's so personable and treats everyone like family! She and the pool staff made accommodations to help my daughter feel comfortable during her first lessons without a parent. The staff in the pool has been amazing and accommodating. Kiki - who graduated HS and is no longer working there, really helped my daughter with her confidence and really helped her literally every step of the way. Sage was so fun and very enthusiastic! Ashley (in the pool) also helped my daughter gain confidence when my daughter was really swimming on her own. Koa is awesome and really makes you feel so welcomed too! I also do commend the owners as well. I was at the pool one day when there was a troubled parent/grand parent asking why her student couldn't move up levels. Even though this customer was clearly frustrated and maybe a little angry with the owner, the owner explained why so calmly that the requirements aren't just there just cause - it's for safety too!! Open swim is always nice, usually Saturdays at 4pm. It does get crowded so either come super early or late!

These two factors alone is what my son was able to achieve. Located in a quiet pearl city community behind their community center, you'll find leahi swim. A very clean pool deck area and pool. The staff here is always welcoming and are known as Aunties and Uncle's to the kids. The kids here can start off below 3 years old but if they are they must attend the class with the parent. 3+ may attend classes that fits their swim level and skills. When I enrolled my son he was at the level of not being able to put his head under water on his own and he absolutely hated splashes. He just could never get his face wet! So he started beginner I. After a little over a year and about 6 seasons, he's now able to go underwear ingredients voluntarily and swim across the pool! Can never forget his "Pizzas, Tummy, Slice", "Ice Creams", and Foggy Legs techniques plus more. He got to the level we wanted him to finally reach and I can't thank the staff here enough with helping brayden get to the level he is at now (Advanced Beginner II). With all the familiar faces, they still greet Brayden even when he's not in his classes. You'll even see co owner Ben jump into the water and teach a class or two when there's not enough instructors for the day. At the end of each season on the last day it's also "Medal Day!" When kiddos complete their season, they get a medal! Including the babies. A tip for this school, it may be very hard to get enrolled for your first class and may be on a wait list. However once you're enrolled, you get early registration before public for each season going forward. They have an online system with their high volumes of enrollment as well that you'll learn as you do and they provide a flyer every season as well to follow along.

It's just such a positive, family-friendly environment overall, and you can tell a lot of care goes into the facility and programs. They always have a few lifeguards on duty, and the pool even has a rock climbing area. How unique! They have a lot of other programs you can sign up for and even do plays sometimes throughout the year. This is in my opinion one of the best recreational centers on Oahu! The staff is awesome here. They are helpful and friendly! There is also a place where they serve coffee and food. Affordability wise, considering the variety of amenities they have including pickleball tournaments and the option for family plans, you get a lot of value much more than you would get with a typical gym membership. We pay roughly $100 a month for a small family and so that's a great value in my opinion!

She went from being a novice swimmer with no experience to being able to safely swim out of a pool alone within 18 sessions. All of her instructors are kind, patient and skilled. They are very qualified as they are members of the UH swim team and water polo team, which is definitely professional and no joke being in Hawaii. I believe Ecaterina is the captain of the water polo team and Jordan is on their roster. I know that Alexa is on the swim team which is impressive. I trust all of them with the gate code to my home and being alone with my daughter in the pool while I'm inside doing my chores. Every single one of them are strong, muscular, in great shape and are extremely sweet and reliable. They have taught my daughter within a short amount of time to be completely safe in the water. You can dump her in the deep end and she can safely swim out. Every penny is worth it. I did this without any hesitation or regrets as learning to swim saves lives and prevents drowning as an accidental death 100%. I'm sure for others that this may not be your goal. If you want to learn how to swim with more refinement or competitively, you will learn. All of these women are associated with and are on the UH swim team which is very competitive. They are very qualified swim teachers and aren't just high school students trying to make some extra money. I've also Zelle'd Amber going in the thousands of dollars to pay for lessons, and though initially I was very cautious and worried, I've learned that she is trustworthy and ethical. She would never cheat anyone out of money. Her pricing is reasonable during these times and it is worth it because I have seen great results. Only downside is that you need to have access to a private pool. If you don't, please be advised as they will not accommodate using a public setting for lessons. (Understandably it's for liability reasons) Hopefully Amber may take in consideration of using her own or one of her instructors pools to accommodate clients who don't have this access. That's my only recommendation I have for her.

When I researched the ISR method, I learned that drowning is the number one cause of accidental death for children under the age of four in Arizona. And while I know there is no substitute for constant supervision, ISR Self-Rescue lessons provide an extra layer of protection. My son loves the water... whenever he sees it, he wants to go in. It's beyond scary to think about if he somehow were to fall into a pool and an adult wasn't around to save him. If you really want the chills and reassurance that ISR works, check out the testimonial page here: http://www.arcadiaisr.com/testimonials.html The testimonials do not lie. Tracy is fabulous. While it's an investment of both time and money, it's so worth it. Just a few weeks in and my 22 month old son can float and swim to the side of the pool - it's pretty amazing! When Yelp allows us to post videos, I'll do so here... In the meantime, if you are looking at swim lessons / survival class for a child 6 months to 6 years old, I highly recommend ISR!

It is, however, negative feedback to the YMCA system when requesting assistance - it's non- existent. I had been a member of the YMCA several years ago and it was fine. However, due to time constraints and other obligations, I had to stop. I did the gym and very few classes, mostly the small fitness room. In Jan. 2026, I decided I had time to do it again so signed up again. By April 2026, I hadn't set foot into the facility. Zero classes (don't do virtual), never went to the facility. Tried to clear my schedule to see if I could attend, but obstacles kept cropping up so decided I'd quit. I looked on the web and it said email them to let them know that I wanted to cancel. I did that. Not once, but twice. I received a response (obviously a system generated response) saying thank you for the email, may take a few, but we will get back to you. I emailed again (second time) hoping for a response. Guess what - finally get a response! Your account is closed, thank you for being a member, Yasuda-yadda-yadda. All good, right? NOPE, the Y strategically closes the account the same day payment is due. So my membership is closed on the same due I'm hit with a payment. Shady AF - again, never stepped into the facility since I joined in January this time, but yet I'm charged even if I requested to close out nine days prior? It's not a big amount, but I'm closing the charge card to migrate to new Atmos card - it's the principal of the matter. Never doing another membership with the YMCA and no more donations to them either. Done. Pau. Do better because right now, my perspective of the YMCA is very negative.
