I have been on scuba trips with this shop several times. Best trip yet has been to Fiji. The group leader Dave was fantastic. The travel was arranged perfectly and went off with no problems. I have already booked another trip through this dive shop. These guys are great! Great staff and Carolyn the owner always treats me like a friend. Thanks guys! Keep up the great work!

What an enchanting experience. Scuba has been on my bucket list for quite sometime and with the help of Jill Garrett and John Brun, I was able to check this off. They are both amazing instructors and made sure I was safe and in control. I have asthma and they required a medical check up and Doctors approval which I really appreciated. We did our open water at the Aurora Reservoir which was not glamorous but we weren't able to travel to Utah which is a preferred location. 2 days and lots of skills and we are now certified. Luke was at the reservoir to assist and I even played a little rock, paper, scissors with him 20 ft below. An insider tip is bring Luke some beer, John some red wine, and Jill some bubbly and they will be grateful for the thank you. (Post dive of course) thank you team for getting us to the finish line!

I bought my wife and I scuba lesson packages for Christmas to prepare for Turks and Caicos this summer. You will have homework to do before the actual class, they supply DVDs, textbooks and all instructions needed to have this done before starting class. We spent about 6-7 hours at the shop for 2 days splitting time evenly between class and pool. Our instructor Richard was great and we completed our 2 days and upgraded our masks, snorkel & fins in the retail shop. Prices were competitive to a little high depending on items, I don't mind spending a little more for the advice, precise fit and supporting local businesses. Our next weekend was spent at Aurora reservoir for our open water certification, about 6 hours each of the 2 days. Our group consisted of 3 awesome instructors; Melissa, Troy and Bob. I can't say enough about these 3 as their patience, knowledge, attention to detail and sense of humor all made this a successful weekend for all. We swam out to our buoy location and prepared to submerge down to our training platform 25' below the surface with low visibility, 3-4 ft max. I had to surface after a little anxiety about the visibility. Bob resurfaced to check on me and we tried again, I made it half way down but had to resurface. Bob hung out with me telling a few personal stories about his experiences, told me to trust my gear and the third times a charm. He stayed with me every foot down the rope until we reached the platform and I went right into my training with Melissa to catch up on the few things I had missed. I had no issues for the rest of the weekend & had a great time getting certified. With an instructor like Bob having the knowledge, taking the time, being positive, calming and having a sense of humor made all of the difference in the world to me. I could've easily cashed in my chips, swam to the beach and let my wife get certified without me, throwing a wrench into our vacation plans, but I didn't, thanks to Bob. Thank you to Richard, Melissa, Troy, Bob and all of the guys and gals at the store for a great experience.

From my trip to Thailand. Me in a school of yellow snappers. :)

Hey Dave M Owner --…read more Can you give -0- stars? You are a complete jerk and that's saying it very nicely. WALKED INTO STORE just to check it out as I was at the bookstore close by. I am a professional reseller and saw some books beyond the counter. The dog balking was intimating and wouldn't shut up and I love dogs. I asked to see a few of the books and took a picture and scanned one for pricing. Dude immediately freaks out and is extremely unprofessional going off about how others are doing the same thing with other products. He said I was wasting his time although there was no one else in the store(I wonder why). He was extremely condescending and treating me like a thug or thief off the street. All he had to do was tell me to kindly leave because "he doesn't cater or accept" resellers in his store. Instead, he's getting a bad review and if one person doesn't shop there that is reading this it wasn't a waste of time. God awful business owner and I told him off the gates I owned a bookstore and was complimenting him at the same time. The whole encounter took about 3-4 minutes tops and I walked out laughing knowing this dude it just a complete fool with little knowledge of how business works. Stay old buddy! I'm lol still from today's event at your shop. This old-timer is just salty because it's business has not adapted. Books were extremely overpriced it wasn't even close. Very out-dated inventory. Dude has NO CLUE what he is doing. It's 2023 not 1970 and if he hates resellers in any capacity that much, well just put a sign on the front door or act professionally and tell me to leave. The comment that it is a "No Frills" Shop, the service and support are founded on not just the broadest research, but hard won experience. They will discuss the needs you have first. It is never a rush to sell, but a detailed education, and what best suits you. Observing many people coming in through the shop, appreciating Dave's gentle presence, waiting for the visitor to ask a question. He is there but non-intrusive. One time, someone came in wanting a dry suit, knowing nothing. He asked what dry suit recommendation. I had offered to get us lunch (my turn to buy). This newbie would take awhile, so I waited almost an hour, then left to pick up lunch. Almost another hour after returning, with hot food, the newbie left, educated. When I bought my first of three underwater cameras from Dave, the time came to select a case. Not being rich, I was whimpering at the Pelican case recommended for the camera kit. Without a word, he showed up from the back with a used case. Another example was a wet-suit from Dave. Was happy with it. Then, my fault, I damaged it. Past any warranty. Dave, in his normal understated way said, Bring it in" I replied, "but what can be done?" He said again, "bring it in". I did. A week later i got a call, saying, "it's fixed Dave has a passion for diving. He supersedes any dive shop or instructor I have met. He likes to befriend all that come into his shop, it is not just a job to him. It defines his soul. Before locating his shop, I visited most of the area shops. I wondered around looking at the inventory which exceeded what I saw in the other shops (and still does). I was already a certified diver. I was undisturbed during this search I asked a few questions. A friendship was born. Since then, I certified as Advanced and Rescue. And a bucket load of Safety is a huge concern. It is discussed in shop conversations and trips. And in them are always a number Rescue divers This includes the trips. They are very competitively priced, and even lower, the food is great. The worst trip I was ever on with Dave was beyond fantastic. The best were better. Yes, no non-sense, no frills for the uneducated eye, but the best stocked, furnished with exceptional instructional talent, nicest staff, no non-sense dive shop, Colorado SCUBA Shop is the choice. You become family.

My husband and I have always been interested in scuba diving, but we didn't take the plunge (see…read morewhat I did there) until early 2025. We're so grateful we got connected with Denver Divers through their adaptive diving program. Even though I've had an interest in scuba diving, I was really nervous to actually try it. I was able to attend a Try Scuba event at Denver Divers, and was immediately hooked (see what I did again). I was paired with an instructor who explained the basics of diving, had time to try out the diving in the pool, and was able to ask questions afterwards. Once we decided to proceed, we were paired with an instructor, Vince, who put as totally at ease about diving. We were given an online training program, in person classes, and two training sessions. I felt comfortable asking questions and learning from my mistakes. I felt super prepared by the time I was getting certified. We ended up taking a group trip and got open water certified in Honduras. I ended up doing 23 dives and built some new core memories. It was wild to see all the different marine life (including a friendly little shark), to see coral up close, and to explore a shipwreck. On top of all of this, we also have started to build our community of divers. All of the instructors are so passionate about diving and really enjoy teaching others how to safely dive. We are looking forward to staying connected and to more future group dive trips.

A special thank you to Cheryl, the director, who runs such a thoughtful and well-structured program. You can tell a lot of care goes into how the school is organized and how families are supported. Our swim coach, Megan, has been fantastic. She is patient, encouraging, and wonderful with kids. We especially appreciate how patient she is with our son on days when he's not as excited about swimming or wants to test boundaries. Megan stays calm, consistent, and keeps realistic expectations while gently following through with directions and the skills they're working on. Her steady and encouraging approach has made such a difference. We're so grateful for the positive environment they've created and highly recommend Denver Divers to families looking for quality swim instruction. ‍

The weekend ended with completing her classroom/pool certification and moving on to dives 1 and 2 for open water certification. Those dives were at the Downtown Aquarium in Denver. I had the opportunity to sit by the segment of the tank where they were going through all the skills they learned in class. It was a lot of hard work over the course of one weekend but worth it. The store staff was always welcoming. They helped us with fitting her with the right mask, the right fins and a few other necessities. We had also booked for her to do dives 3 and 4 to complete open water certification the next month at Blue Hole in New Mexico. On the second day of her weekend class, we had her measured for the dive suit she would need for the New Mexico dive. At that time we made arrangements for when we would pick up her tank, weights, suit and vest for that excursion. A few weeks later it was time for New Mexico. One of her instructors, Heather, was in contact via email to let her know the schedule and to provide the information for getting her diving permit for that site. Heather was helpful answering questions. On the morning of our road trip, we popped into the shop shortly after they opened and picked up her gear for the dive. At Blue Hole, the A-1 instructors, Heather and Carol, were informative and got the group ready for their descent. My daughter had some difficulty with one of her mask skills and both Heather and Carol worked with her until she was able to get the skill down that she needed to complete. Highly recommend A-1 Scuba. The instructors want to see their students succeed. They are patient and encouraging.

I haven't been diving with them for an extended period now due to health related issues, but I'm planning a trip with them sometime in the hopefully not too distant future to motivate me as I go through addressing some of these problems via appropriate surgical procedures . Just knowing my reward for having these procedures done will be a dive trip with them is providing motivation for my pre-surgical pre-rehab routine and post op. Prehab is the exercises and activities you do before a surgery in order to optimize the surgical recovery and results . Diving is such an intoxicating activity. I could think of none better to serve this function. The inherent joy of diving is enhanced when you go with an A1 sponsored trip because you typically meet a great group of people and share a lot of spectacular diving as well as fun post diving activities. Yes and one or two libations might enter the picture. Thank you everyone at A-1!! I can't believe that after all these years of you providing excellent services and equipment to me that I didn't take the time to acknowledge your excellence before.
