So great we almost turned the planning to her and have a preliminary quote and will likely get a design from her and we hope be able to buy from her. Due to inept communication, the slab of granite we had picked out somehow ended up in someone else's kitchen. We had already waited several weeks longer than we were supposed to originally, and now....... We'll add an additional 10 weeks. We had an appointment for their install crew to come and install the counters. That was between 9-10 in the morning. After waiting the entire day with not do much as a phone call, we decided to give up and go eat. As we were leaving, they're install pulled up in front of our home. The two guys got out of the truck and said we're here to install your counters. This was about 6:30 in the p.m. When I asked you to where the hell they had been and why we receive no notification they said that they were in McCall finishing up a job and that they were busy. They figured that we would be around when they showed up and that we wanted to counters installed bad enough that we would like to go ahead and do it. I told them to pack her crap up and get out of there and reschedule, we were done for the day. Finally the day of installation came. After several hours of working on putting the counters in the kitchen, they had left telling us the job was finished. Standing in the kitchen looking down on the countertops I about fell over. Being a contractor I have an eyeball for lines and such, however, one does not need to be a Carpenter to see how bad of a screwup this was. What was supposed to be a 90° angle cut ended up being a 97° angle cut. When we spoke to Big Wood Cabinets they sent the rep out to take a look. Of course she tried to come up with all kinds of roundabout excuses and reasons why it was the way it was the bottom line it was screwed up. He was Going to check in to finding out about having it replaced. After several days of negotiating back-and-forth he asked if we would be willing to except the countertop as it was and reduce the price for doing so. We agreed telling him that we would like at least a 20% reduction on the price of a granite slab that was miss cut and looks well looks terrible. That was agreed. Looking further into it not only was the countertop miss kit for the cabinets were installed just a little bit out of square as you can see in the pictures. These guys are supposed to be professionals?During the installation process of the cabinets, we had noticed flaws in the faces of the drawers and cabinet doors. Some were warped, some had chips taken out of them. Every time we inquired about such we were told to go ahead and wait until the end and we would do a final walk-through and then submit a claim under the warranty for the damage pieces and they would replace those parts. Well 7-8 months past the finish time of the cabinet installation and countertops we still have received no discount on the countertop after paying full price and we have received no parts or pieces to replace those damaged ones or defective ones. When calling Big Wood Cabinets we are told basically to shove it and they weren't going to do anything about it. You can see in the pictures how bad some of the damage was. Would you accept this in your home for all the money they charge? Wells Farfound one of our brand-new kitchen towels watered up underneath one of the cabinets looking like this. Bottom line these guys don't stand behind their word for a damn thing. They are liars and they're cheats. Not the kind of business dealing I would expect from a fellow native Idahoan.

Ernie's cabinet installer, Johnny, was good. He was nice and did a good job. He even went above and beyond on a few things. Unfortunately, Ernie (the owner) wasn't so helpful. For one thing, he's lazy. He didn't finish the demo that we hired him to do. He left an entire cabinet still attached to the wall, and several scraps still attached to the pipes and subfloor. He used lame excuses to cut corners: "they're not paying me enough for this job", "I don't do plumbing ", "I don't do electrical." Really? You're in the kitchen-remodel business and you don't know how to disconnect a range hood? We had to finish the demo on our own. Worse was his not-my-problem dismissive attitude, like he really didn't care that this customer had paid him money. At one point, in trying to schedule the next phase of the job, his assistant told us "next week". But when we followed up to confirm, Ernie told us it wouldn't be until the week after that. He was rude. We said "we're just trying to get our cabinets installed". He snottily replied "yeah, you and every other customer!" I would not recommend Boise Kitchen Cabinets & Design.

He listened to my complaints regarding the kitchen I had at that time and the ideas that I had regarding a new one. He added his expertise into the mix with suggestions. The quote was provided within a week as well as the different businesses I would need to visit to select finishes. Once I entered into an agreement with them I was provided a contract and calendar that defined which trades would be in the house and on what day. The whole process took a little over four weeks and the timeline was followed exactly. The different trades that he contracts with were very reliable and the work was impeccable. I would highly recommend Boise Kitchen Cabinets and Design for any kitchen and/or bath remodeling project.

They have a fantabulous wood shop and hundreds of knives to run mouldings from their extensive in house catalog for all sizes and combinations for styles from contemporary sleek to traditional classic to as ornate as someone might want. If you don't find just what you want, they'll create a custom moulding for you. We used some of their stock wood mouldings in our home and had others custom done and their product was great. They were also on time for their production schedule. A refreshing spot of professionalism among a sea of largely laggards selected by our so-called custom builder, Jaymark delivered the quality product they promised when they said they would. Dave Streight, who is the customer contact person for the mouldings piece of this business, was fantastic to work with for knowledge and help in decision making. A really nice man who knows his stuff. Interesting to note it was not our builder who recommended Jaymark to us, but we found them on our own. My husband and I also had Jaymark on our list of top two subs to make the cabinets. Alas, we agreed to use our builder's "go to" guy at our builder's strong recommendation. The builder's guy was a nightmare to work with. Jaymark is a professional cabinet shop with a designer or two on staff and quality control processes to make sure all works just as it should. Located in Garden City in one of the non descript small industrial areas, inside you'll find a professionally organized showroom. Likely best to call for an appointment, but you can walk in too. Highly recommended. In this era of production building using MDF and polyurethane artificial products, it is a rare thing to find such a top notch millwork shop. Use it or lose it. We were building again or remodeling, Jaymark would be a destination for us. THIS N THAT: 1) PARKING: Small private lot. 2) ACCESSIBILITY: Once in the door all is level and on one floor. Standard height seating in a conference room for design meetings. There is a curb cut to access sidewalk from parking lot but it is almost always blocked by employee car parked in front of it. 3) SUB ZERO / WOLF APPLIANCES TOO?: I recently heard that Jaymark is now an authorized dealer for Sub Zero for refrigerator / freezers and Wolf for cooktops / ovens. (Both of those brands are in the same parent company.) We used both brands in our home and once again had a marginal experience with our builder's favorite supplier. If we were doing this again and Jaymark is selling these as I've heard they are, they would be out dealer of choice for them too based on past as prologue excellent experience with Jaymark as business.
