This was one of the most damaging waxes I've been to. I came for the eyebrow shaping and upper lip wax, when I left, my face was puffy, red and parts of my eyebrow were bleeding. I've never had an experience like this when the wax artist pushes so roughly down on your face to peel off the wax or digs into your skin with the tweezer. I was in shock. When she asked if I wanted anything else done, I just wanted to leave because my face was in so much pain. I've been to waxes before and never had so much damage from one session. I'm writing this the next morning and my skin still hurts from where she dug the tweezer into my skin. I also noticed a lot of stray hairs still under my eyebrow. It was not only a painful session but also ineffective. I don't plan on coming here again. read more

I needed to get my eyebrows done and this place was recommended to me. I was really excited to come here because I made an appointment with a referral code on the same day. The referral code was $3 off my service. The waxer was really nice and fast. During my session, she told me that I could get my upper lips or armpits waxed for FREE since it was my first visit. I thought that was really nice that she told me that since I wasn't aware of the "free" service. I told her I'll get my upper lips done then and she did that for me. The waxer made the receptionist aware that I got my upper lips done as well. The receptionist let me know that I could only use one deal: either the $3 off referral code that I signed up with or free upper lips. At first, I thought I would get both deals but I guess not...but I didn't really worry about that too much if I couldn't get the $3 off. I told her I wanted the free upper lips (since that would be the better deal and I was told it would be free and I didn't even come here for that service anyways). After a minute or two playing around on her computer, the receptionist told me she couldn't figure out how to remove my $3 referral code and give me the lips for free instead..so I asked her "So I have to pay for the upper lips even though I was told it was free..?" She said yes.. So I ended up paying for the lips service that I was told would be free!!! The receptionist didn't even apologize. Businesses SHOULD NOT tell customers a service is FREE if they will still make the customers pay for it! Disappointed! read more

I came here for an eyebrow wax today. It was my first time here, which meant I got 10% off my service. That was a nice surprise! They waxing was pretty painless! I am pretty sure they use hard wax and that seemed to make the waxing less painful. I had Mira and she was very sweet! She kept a nice conversation going and made sure that I liked the way they looked at the end. The service ended up being $15.99, which I think is an awesome deal for a clean wax place in Midtown. Due to COVID, this place only takes appts, they do check in forms online (they have an app), check your temp at the door, hand sanitizer in front, receptionists have always been friendly & professional, clean facility, & waxers all wear PPE. The app makes it easy to book, reschedule, see service details, & promos. I found Mira B, through Yelp & book her for Brazilian waxes. She's skilled, thorough, patient, & kind. I never get teary eyed while getting waxed with her. She remembers little details about you & brings it up during what she be the most painful part of a Brazilian .. to keep you distracted. I loved the service at Uni K Columbus Circle. I followed my waxer Niru from the Murray Hill location and was very impressed with her new spot. The space was super clean and decor was amazing. In terms of my waxing experience, Niru is the best. I go to her for my deep Brazilian front and back, but also added in eyebrows this time. She is super gentle and quick. She even gives your leg a little rub when she does the more intimate regions. Niru also takes her time even after she's finished waxing to go over spots that she may have missed before. She also stops and asks if the wax is too hot, or if you are feeling any pain. I'd recommend anyone to Niru if they are a first time waxer, or if they are a waxing pro. This place is amazing! The salon is located in a perfect spot, right around the corner from the 59th street subway station, and the ambience/aesthetic is very calming and relaxing. The ladies at the front desk were so nice at accommodating me as a walk-in for my first time, and this was right around the holidays. Even when I was a little late for my last appointment, they were kind enough to accommodate me then as well. Pinky was my aesthetician and she is amazing. She's quick, efficient, makes it as painless as can be (given the circumstances),and her demeanor makes you feel like you're in good hands. I, too, was Mira B.'s faithful customer from the Brooklyn location and I followed her to the Columbus Circle location! She's been my faithful waxer for a little more than 1 year and a half. I switched over to her exactly 3 months before she gave birth to her son in December 2017. Those 3 months she was on maternity leave were the worst (for me), haha! She is THEE BEST!!!! She never disappoints!!! Extremely friendly, gentle, thorough and sweet! If you're a talker like me, it also helps that she makes you feel like family by remembering your name, giving you a warm welcome EACH visit, and asks for detail updates about you (and your family) that you have previously shared with her during previous visits! Wax. When you think of that word I associate it with hot and messy . After a handful of wax sessions at other waxing locations ( some pricey , some not ) I've been left burned by hot wax , I've been left with sticky gross wax on my underarms . I had almost sworn off waxing until one day I decided to pop into UNIK . I was merely passing by and figured why not . The minute I walked in I felt comfortable, and although a bit apprehensive about another possible bad wax experience, I felt hopeful . UNI K did not let me down. The place is clean . Friendly and comfortable environment. Prices are amazing . But the wax was the best. Not hot , not rough where I felt my first layer of skin was being ripped off . No sticky residue left. Ive has one service here around when they first opened. I was a walk-in and the waxer I was assigned to was a very new girl. She couldn't get the temperature right for the wax, the wax kept breaking off, and a service that should have taken 20minutes took an hour. When I tried to check out they were having trouble swiping my card and ended up locked my card because of how many times they swiped. I tried to go back today because of the location is convenient (usually I go to flatiron location) and I walked in to no one sitting at the desk. I walked in around 6:58, I said hello out loud three different times, and waited a few minutes and ended up walking out because no one came to the reception. I don't think I will be coming back to this location at all! read more

If you need your waxing done this place is a god send. Great location; right on the same block as B/D/F/M 57th street train station. As soon as you walk in the the receptionists at the front desk greet you with an inviting vibe and warm smiles. This location has a chic interior. I got my arms waxed here by Johanna. She's very friendly and the service done by her is great since she has an attention to detail and gets the job done quick. The amount of wax Johanna melted was the exact proportion that's needed for the service you ask for during the time of your visit. You never have to worry about double dipping from a pervious client since the hard wax is applied and then pulled off from skin after it dries. Have you ever gotten wax applied and it's scorching hot? Well, you don't have to worry about that here because the wax used here is applied at body temperature. The formula for the hard wax is elastic and it's gluten free. The wax is 100% natural. Far less of a painful experience than traditional waxing methods with wax strips. Overall for hygiene and cleanliness I give this place a 10/10. Very inviting area. Will be going back again! Highly recommended to others! read more

Nicky was my technician and she was thorough and friendly. The wax itself was really a nice texture and as others said, not sticky. I was in and out in about 10 minutes. Check-in when I arrived at the front desk was friendly and easy, no wait/no delay. My facial waxing was done in a chair which was comfortable and easy. They use hard wax here so they put it on and it comes off in one swoop! (No paper wax strips). The bikini wax was done in a private room that was clean, bright and private. Best thing about this place is the energy, love the familiar and fun vibe. So I couldn't find it and was a little late and they were very easy going about it, which is something I love about Uni K Wax's across the board. The room is set up very weird; The space between the wall and bed is very small. I couldn't figure out which side I was supposed to go on to get on the bed. The practitioner, I think her name was Rachel or Rebecca, told me that she spent some extra time to get an ingrown under my chin. She said it as if I was getting a favor or she wanted me to understand that she tried to do her job. When I got off the table and checked myself out in the full-length mirror a long chin hair is staring back at me. It took me some time to pull it out, but I did not want to come out with it there. With all the Uni K's I've gone to, they offer a cooling gel after the service--I had to ask. Then instead of applying it to the skin, she applied it to the cotton ball and basically rubbed dry cotton ball on my face. The best way to have this applied is directly on the skin, massaged in, and wiped off with a napkin (and don't be cheap with it like it's coming out of your check). If I do return to this location it will be because Payal isn't working (I met her at Brooklyn Heights and followed her to the East Village). Probably won't be returning because I normally have no reason to be that far uptown. To end on a high note, the practitioners and other women at the front desk were jovial and easy to laugh with.
