my massage therapist was louis and i booked a session with him last week, requested a body scrub as well. my schedule was behind but i was no rush at all. my meeting with louis was very professional and pleasant. it started rocky because he had a mask on and he was not aware i have a hearing issue. it is all good! but i enjoyed the massage session, think he blended techniques with swedish, lomi lomi, and stretching. it is different than traditional massage and like THIS method a lot. the body scrub was cool, maybe not for everyone. the "sand" was raw sugar with oils, in-house-made; it can be sensitive while scrubbing on some part of the body. the positive note that after i showered in the studio, my body skin was very soft and smooth ... i was amazed by that! we chatted briefly afterward and it was all good! i definitely will schedule a session with him in the near future. read more

I wish that I could give two ratings--I booked a grooming (my first) and massage (definitely not my first). The groomer was Louis, I believe, and was excellent. Personable, pleasant, and took great care at his job. A great experience all told. Absolutely 5 stars!! The massage--well, what can I say?--I found it to be painful without being therapeutic. Had to stop him twice, fearing nerve damage.... He was very good looking with an Eastern European accent. I'm sorry I don't remember the name, because I could heartily recommend him to any truly dedicated masochists. I have been wanting to try sugaring as an alternative to painful waxing. I found this place and saw great reviews so made an appointment. Louis couldn't have been nicer and more calming with what is always an awkward situation for the areas that I get done. He explained it and trimmed up areas around what I had sugared to make it all blend well. I have waxed many times and this is way less painful and quick. There is some pain but nothing unbearable. Called to inquire about a gift certificate and specific offerings at the Spa and the man who answered the phone said he couldn't answer any questions..... because he "didn't know anything about massages or wraps". I thought I misunderstood his response so I tried to rephrase my question but he still had no information. It was like pulling teeth. Then, I asked if I had reached the correct number/establishment and he said "yes". I asked if he worked in reception, and assumed he did because he picked up the phone, and he muttered something unintelligible. I asked him to repeat what he said and he did but it was still unclear (as an aside there was a good deal of noise in the background on his end) and then he just hung up. End of story! I had an appointment at Hush on W. 47th Street today, May 29. I'm a morning person so the fact that I was able to schedule for 10:30AM on a Saturday was really a plus for me. My appointment was with Louis for a body scrub, booty facial, and some sugaring for my underarms. Louis was easy to speak to and had a really good energy. I get waxed regularly, but this was my first time getting sugared. The results are excellent and it smelled a little like cookies while he worked with the paste. The body scrub and booty facial had some light massage and stretching incorporated, which I loved. Everything was so relaxing I almost fell asleep on him. Of course days before I'm set to move out of NYC I finally find a great men's spa in the neighborhood where I can get my junk waxed. Or in the case of Hush Manhattan, get it sugared. I'm not the biggest fan of sugar over wax. Although every place that does it will say it's less painful, I beg to differ. Call me crazy but I'd rather have hot wax smeared on my *** rather than sugar that pulls and pinches my skin... but despite the discomfort, I got a great body grooming service yesterday. At first glance the spa has a slightly dodgy feel. No sign outside or even by the buzzer. You ring a buzzer to be let into the building. Once inside, the door is slightly ajar from the turned deadbolt. But once inside it was clean, serene and the staff were all very friendly. It feels sort of like a spa collective - no front desk, and the practitioners check in/out their own customers. Got a bottle of water upon check in which was nice too. The price per service is unlike anything I've seen: you pay for the period of time, with options of 30 min, 45 min and so on. Having not been before, I was slightly concerned I might over or under purchase the right amount of time, but for a Brazilian (including my ass and crack) 45 min was perfect. I worked with Jonathan - really nice guy, good sense of humor, intelligent, friendly, cute, and above all... good at what he does: quickly removing hair from your balls (and other sensitive parts). No nonsense. I'm very pleased with the results and would definitely go back to him from now on if I weren't moving out of town next week. **One suggestion: I stopped in two days ago to try and get an on-the-spot appointment, but because there isn't a central person to handle bookings and had that spa "collective" feel, the guy I spoke with couldn't easily tell who might be free at the moment, and he was keeping a client waiting while dealing with my last-minute ass. So I suggest you book through their online reservation system - it's very easy to use and I got exactly what I wanted for the following day. read more

My experience getting body sugaring with David was truly incredible. This is going to be a long review because I have a lot to say. I'm Sicilian and very hairy, in the past I thought trying to fight that was a loosing battle. The most I'd done in the past was get my back waxed a few times which was fine but nothing I ever stuck with. When I heard about sugaring I thought I'd give it a try, so I went and saw David for the first time a month ago to have my back done. The process compared to waxing was less painful, my skin was much less irritated, and the regrowth process seemed slower and less noticeable. After the success of the first experience I wanted to try to go further but was unsure exactly how. As I said I'm very hairy all over so unless I was going to remove all the hair from my torso down (which is not my style at all) I was afraid that I would look patchy and unnatural. I especially wanted to have my butt done, but could only picture it looking like I was wearing fur assless chaps. David took a look at my body hair, and once I told him I trusted his aesthetic judgement we got to work. David sugared my shoulders, back, and butt cheeks. Then, he took a buzzer and started blending the hair on my legs(he fully gave them a fade.) He also did the same fading on my chest and stomach so the hair on the sides of my stomach were less noticeable and I got the affect of the line going from my pubic hair to my chest. But truly his masterpiece (sorry for being graphic) was my crack. I said that if it was possible I wanted to keep my hair there but understood that a completely smooth butt with a hairy crack is a rare anomaly of nature and would understand if he couldn't recreate it. He spent the most time there, alternating between sugaring and buzzing. Obviously all of this put me in some pretty compromising positions, but David was professional and personable and we had unforced fun conversation throughout, even when he had a spotlight shining into my crack. I got up I looked at myself and the front looked great, but when I turned around I actually gasped. I've had a hairy butt since I was 13 so I wasn't ready for how great it looked. Not only that, I could tell that it's going to look great in every phase of the grow out process. I honestly never imagined my body could look like this.
