The owner, Monique, is usually on site and is able to answer any questions. The location is soothing and calming for anyone who may be nervous or going in for their first service. The staff is kind and friendly so while they're ripping your hair from the root, you're distracted with conversation. Don't get me wrong, I usually am not chatty during personal services but I like that they check in to make sure you don't leave dissatisfied. I've never had any issues with random stray hairs and they have a bathroom with wipes and other items to ensure you're prepped for your service. Sis i love it here! Lol Truly a great space dedicated to the privacy and safety of its customers. Pre-vid (pre-cov.. you get the point), you'd come in for your scheduled appointment, check in at the front desk and take a seat on the couch as you wait for the technician who will do your service. Now, its best to show up 5 to maybe 10 mins before your appointment. As you are greeted, you are also asked to wash your hands. Loved that responsible call to action. Everything moves very swiftly. The techs are great. Informative and sanitary. Depending on what you get, it generally takes under 20mins. Just as swift as the entrance, also is the exit. They charge the card on file and automatically schedule your next appointment which i receive via text. Using that link i can then reschedule or make any adjustments for my next visit. Only giving 4 stars because the services are bare boned and charge extra for every little thing. "Booty cuff" costs extra which I've never heard of before. After moving to a new state and experiencing those who really hone the craft of waxing, I know that my experience here with Monique was less than satisfactory. Waxers put pressure on the area to mitigatepain for clients. Given that she just ripped the hard wax off, and kept saying "relax your leg," I now see her behavior as cruel and unprofessional. Also, after the last visit I had with her, she rushed me to evacuate the space. Monique left to let me change then knocked thirty seconds after (if that) to "ask if I was okay." The phrase was a passive aggressive move to get me to evacuate the room even though I patiently waited for my turn to be serviced. Bottom line: She treated me like someone she had a beef with rather than a customer. Maya Angelou once said, "when you know better you do better," and now that I know better, I do not recommend Monique or her salon. read more

Terrible wax !!! This is only based off of one person, i got a wax 3 days ago and the hair is already growing back ... when I finished there was still some hair left and it feels like I just shaved and the hair is growing back smh a waste of money and pain; the owner actually did my wax so I definitely would not go to her again, maybe she was just in a rush who knows, but not a good wax at all... every one here is super nice tho and I really love the decor; again this is only based off one person and it was terrible; of course Brazilians are going to hurt but not this bad... also I think they should give you wipes or something to clean up after you're done instead of just having you leave with wax residue on you (maybe they do, but the person I had did not offer this option to me) Best receptionist thus far tho so shout out to her !!! Went here for my first wax a month ago, and even though I was super nervous, Robin was SUPER nice and calming and put me at ease. It was a little painful (your lady bits are being waxed, duh!) but she made it as comfortable as possible. I loved my results so much I recommended it to my friends!! Just went back a couple of days ago for my second wax and had Monique (the owner I believe) and she was just as nice as Robin! If I could give BB 10+ stars I would. I've received waxes uptown and downtown, but this is by far the least painful wax I've ever had. Monique was super quick and friendly. We had a conversation the entire time which is rare! Very rare to find a genuine soul sometimes in NYC where we are so accustomed to being antisocial in other settings. This was my first time waxing in months coming from an experience that was unpleasant somewhere uptown. When it comes to waxing, the technique is everything and BB def has it. This was also my first time trying hard wax and I enjoyed it. Not as painful as strip or sugar wax. I'm talking about 60% less painful. Doesn't mean I didn't experience some pain, but I'm really emphasizing the difference here. 60%. Born and raised in The Bronx but I won't search anywhere else. BB is it. 10/14/21 Beautiful salon and workers! The girls were so kind and understanding and provided excellent customer service. I was even running late and they still accommodated me! This was my first time going somewhere to get waxed and I was extremely nervous but it was pretty much painless! Michelle was my waxer and I would recommend her to be your waxer too. They use hard wax, and I wasn't burned nor do I have any irritation. All the hairs are completely gone and none were left behind! The process was quick and easy and I was waxed within less than 15 minutes :) You have to try them out ladies and gentlemen! Unfortunately, I have had to find another salon due to issues that Brazilian Babes has had with scaling its business. I love the estheticians here and still think they all do really great waxes. I love that Brazilian Babes is a locally owned business in a quickly gentrifying Harlem. But it is clear that Brazilian Babes is shifting its business to cater to walk in appointments as opposed to long term customers, which is not a characteristic of a high end salon. The last few times I called to get an appointment, the new receptionist has answered most questions regarding availability with "we have [insert times] available, but if that doesn't work, don't worry! You can always just walk in and hope someone is late for their appointment!", which is a really odd policy for a salon to advertise to anyone who calls in. The last few times I went in, the waiting area has been filled with anxious people hoping for walk in appointments, which does not create a high end atmosphere. Often, several walk ins are squeezed in between regular appointments, which creates a rushed feeling for those of us who actually make appointments. The last time I came in--the last straw for me--, I was running less than five minutes late due to reasons beyond my control. I texted well in advance to warn them and I called to ensure that my appointment would be held, to which this receptionist did not respond. I even called and the receptionist said that everything was fine. In short, I was extremely communicative about what was going on. Lo and behold, the appointment was not held and was given to a walk in who had never even been to Brazilian Babes before. When I was a receptionist in a high end salon, I always accommodated long term clients and bent over backwards to make things work for them. It was even salon policy to call long term clients before giving up their appointments and to never give up regular clients' appointments without first trying to get in touch. It is disappointing that Brazilian Babes does not value its longtime clients in this way. The aestheticians are great, I love basically everyone else at Brazilian Babes. I have continued going back even after I moved from Harlem to Queens because Brazilian Babes has amazing aestheticians and has previously had impeccable service. I have even traveled from as far as my workplace in Connecticut to support the Brazilian Babes business. I regularly spend $100+ on services at Brazilian Babes. Previously, when I have communicated to Brazilian Babes when I was late, the front desk staff was accommodating and friendly. Having adequate staffing (read: more than one aesthetician and receptionist working busy weekends) would likely alleviate a lot of these issues. Hopefully Brazilian Babes can scale back to being the high end salon that it once was, but in the meantime, I can't waste my time traveling to a salon that values walk in clients who will likely never return over a longtime client who has continually supported the business. read more

Let me say, I never had professional Brazilian...my boyfriend did a home bought one and he did pretty good job no hair but we was at it for abt 2 hrs cause I had to stop and go.
