Besides price, the owner Mike was by far the reason we chose Dreamscapes. His demeanor, professionalism, and attentiveness to our needs paid great dividends as the project moved from the planning stages all the way to completion with all the ups and downs you would expect from such a large project. When we first received Dreamscape's bid we wondered what the catch was since all the other companies' bids were so high even though it was an apple to apple comparison. To say it's the wild, wild west in the construction business is an understatement. The price of materials is the price so once you boil down costs you can see if someone is charging too much. It was refreshing to have a business charge a decent price while being able to make a profit for itself that wasn't going to end up with me sending their kids to Stanford. We had received a separate quote for outdoor lights that Mike was able to undercut significantly. Once work started Mike kept in constant communication with us to let us know what the status of his crew was for the day or week so we could plan our days accordingly. His general labor crew was extremely courteous and professional and cleaned up after each day. His stonework guys were the same and I was so impressed with their work that I added a new mailbox to the contract. Mike also has a crew that does topnotch pavestone work that created the design we were looking for. As with all large projects, not everything went according to plan but this is where Mike's professionalism took over. Mike never asked for more money if an item was over budget or his guys had to fix mistakes. He always accepted responsibility as a business owner which says a lot about his ethics and it's evident he takes pride in his company. Dreamscapes turned our yard into a wonderful place to hang out and enjoy during any season. Don't hesitate to call Mike and have him bid on your project. You will be treated professionally, honestly, and will not be ripped off. **********Update 15 September 2017******** Had an issue with our fountain light and Mike fixed with no questions asked and without any of the usual contractor BS. Some areas of the yard were a little sparse on the mulch due to settling and Mike came out with a full pallet of mulch and took care of the problem. Some of the irrigation lines his sub installed were having issues and Mike made sure they were taken care of. He has a good working relationship with his subs which is reassuring. It's great to finally work with a business owner who actually gets that by treating his customers fairly he will get more business and referrals.

Their team works seamlessly together, which made the whole project run without a single hiccup. They went above and beyond, coming up with ingenious and creative ideas we never would have thought of on our own. What made it even better was how personal the experience felt--working with them felt like spending time with friends. We've actually made new friends with the whole FitBuild team! They proved themselves to be completely trustworthy, stayed informed every step of the way, they were incredibly neat, always cleaned up after themselves, and were prompt and professional from start to finish. I would highly recommend this company and this team to anybody. We couldn't be happier with the results! Thanks, Tyler, Jack, Lupe, Jim, Patrick, and the entire team!

Often, in the world of remodeling, finding a contractor that you would use again seems as difficult…read moreas finding true love, but in the case of Fit Build, not only would we use them again, they were recommended by some friends who plan to use them for more work. In the past I've had contractors that I'm just ready to write a final check to, say "get out of my life, it's not you, it's me," and never see again. Make a break-up mixtape (Fleetwood Mac-"Little Lies"). Get over it. Not the case here. Jared and the crew at Fit managed to get our 1967 home's still mostly 1967 bathroom updated with a fantastic new walk-in shower converted from the cast iron tub, and everything else, in 3.5 weeks. The shower rework involved a premium tiling job and fixture placement that makes it our favorite thing about the bathroom. Even so, the rest of the tile floor, repair and replacement of sheetrock, trim outs, and other detail work were well executed and done to my specifications. The work looks even better than the scale drawing I created to plan out the changes. I also think this is the first time a contractor has used the brand of paint (Benjamin Moore) I wanted upon request, rather than having me go to buy it-a small but important detail when you have a particular color palette in mind and are picky about such things. Jared does a great job of juggling the details and scheduling, and he's also great with communication when you reach out to him. I would recommend early communication about what fixtures, tiles, products, etc. you need to obtain so the work can run smoothly. While we didn't use them, they do have an in-house design team that can help with the process, but I came in with a fairly detailed vision. Everyone was great about coming up with solutions for anything that came up between plans and installation, which is how the shower came out even better with a great niche and a nice curb to wall feature that allowed more of my favorite tile (the smaller mosaic) to be showcased. They do a great job integrating Schluter trim/edging across the board for a uniform look and superior water resistance, and nobody griped about the epoxy grout that I wanted and provided. It is more expensive and can be a pain to install and clean up, but even there things went well and the white epoxy grout will be much easier to keep clean and will control moisture superbly. We had a new puppy in the mix, and our cat, but all the workers were careful about keeping doors shut and cleaning up at the end of the day. The puppy was unhappy that he couldn't "help" and the cat was grumpy about anyone else in his house, so he stayed under the couch, but they made it through well, and I appreciate the contractors' awareness. I found the pricing to be competitive, and Jared worked with us on changes as needed, reworking figures depending on how some discoveries went. Even so, the final amount wound up on target. I'll call on them again for projects in the future, and, as finding remodelers goes, I would say there's no greater recommendation than wanting to stay in the relationship. Cue "Seven Wonders" on the mixtape.

I was not satisfied with way the master bathroom tile in the shower and floor turned out. Big gaps in the grout and against the floorboards, no apologies, and just excuses. Also, wasn't happy that I didn't receive the vanity we discussed-- I requested a floating vanity and was told that was what I was getting, but that is not what was delivered. The workers left a pile of their meal garbage in the work area each day and left garbage from the work they did scattered throughout the front yard. Such a mess! I expected better time management. They started my job-- but then I guess they have other jobs that were deemed more important so my project dragged on much longer than expected. Since the real estate market was so volatile, I believe the delays costs us money when we were finally able to get the house on the market. I also expected the Rojas Family Tile would handle payment processing in a more professional manner. Asking me to lie on PayPal or Venmo by stating this was a "friends & family" transaction is not a professional business practice. Processing fees are part of your business expenses-- I know because I have run several businesses. Hopefully, things have improved with Rojas Family Tile since we used them in 2021. But based on my experience with them, I wouldn't recommend them.
