I was hesitant about arranging a videographer for my wedding because I tend to dislike the cheesy, melodramatic approach that many videographers seem to take with wedding videos these days. I just wanted a beautifully shot, honest portrayal of our wedding day, but didn't think it would be possible to find a wedding videographer who would do that. However, after my maid of honor and I met Michael and looked through the videos on his website, I realized that Michael was the videographer who could do exactly what I had hoped for. His videos are gorgeously shot, and tell a story without going overboard or feeling inauthentic. Even just glancing through the video snippets on the United Cinematic instagram demonstrates how cinematic his wedding videos are. He has a really fresh eye that comes through in his videos, and he's not scared to play with different styles, which we really appreciated as clients. Based on his background, I believe that his flexibility and unique style are the result of his experience in documentary filmmaking. I also love all things antique/vintage so I personally have really enjoyed the vintage aesthetic he plays with on his website and in some of his videos. Michael himself was a pleasure to work with. When we first met with him, we felt as if we were meeting with an old friend. While he's very professional, he also has an authenticity and kindness to his personality that I didn't often encounter amongst the many other wedding vendors we met with. I also appreciated that he didn't try to up-sell us by pushing a more expensive package--instead, he was honest and straightforward with us and respected the budget we had set, which was again a rarity when dealing with wedding vendors. (It's actually worth noting that his pricing is extremely reasonable and I love that you can add different services a la carte). He was also very open to our ideas and our own vision, while still staying true to his own artistic vision (which obviously benefited us in the end). On the wedding day itself, both he and his shooting partner were funny and kind, and we loved the moments that they captured. In fact, Michael ended up taking a picture of us that is one of our favorite photos from the wedding itself, which was totally unexpected. He spent a Saturday videotaping a workshop sponsored by my company Women's Wellness Weekends, and 10 days later he delivered the finished videos to me, right on schedule and adequately and professionally edited. What I loved most about Micheal's service was that you could see he really cared about recording OUR story. We told him our wedding was "festival" styled and he came to the event prepared to capture the events of the day as they moved and developed. We challenged him with an outdoor event, weird lighting, multiple locations, moving sound, non-traditional staging and even dynamic performances and he expertly captured every moment. You could see even as he was recording that he was going to create a video that was uniquely us. I don't think any other videographer would have the equipment or the skills to create such a wonderful documentation of our day. I know we will be watching it over and over. read more

We hired Michael to record the stories people shared about my father at his memorial. The recording quality was outstanding! The recorded stories sounds just like NPR's StoryCorps or something you would hear from a Moth broadcast. Michael visited the venue ahead of time to ensure the facilities would work for the recording. We were holding the event in a 6000 sq foot building with a concrete floor, metal roof and sides. He and his assistant brought all of the needed equipment include a projector for the slide show my sister had prepared. Everyone in the building (~175 people) could hear the stories as they were being recorded. He arrived over two hours before the start to set up. Giving himself plenty of time to resolve any unforeseen technical issues. Fortunately there were no issues. He did a great job transitioning between speakers as well. The quality of his work was outstanding and I would highly recommend him to others. read more
