We are dealing with selling a car to someone that is getting their loan through Unify and it is absolutely ridiculous how long this process is taking. The buyer is pre approved and somehow has a "virtual" loan specialist handling this and it has been nothing short of a nightmare. We have sold many cars and have never had an issue with a buyer getting their loan processed. It is to the point we are about to throw in the towel and the buyer is prob going to end up getting their loan through a different financial institution. read more

My dad has an account with Unify and was a victim of a scammer. Over the phone someone told him that they were going to rectify the situation, but I wanted to talk to someone face to face about it. We met with Jacob who was very caring and understanding. He made sure that my dad's accounts were all in tact and that the situation was resolved. Really appreciate this credit union. Safety measures always taken, in a nice complex and THE friendliest staff. They help you with credit and have free atms anywhere there is a school's first atm. Been banking here for a few years and have zero complaints. Usually there are coffee and refreshments, with COVID in full swing unfortunately this extra perks are understandably no longer available. I've been a member of the Credit Union for over 40 years from back in the day when it was Western Airlines employees credit Union. The credit union has spread from one or two locations in the 80's to numerous locations all over the country. This branch has been phenomenal with it's professionalism and conduct. Both of my children opened their accounts here and their first credit cards. The branch manager Marleny always comes out to great and always makes herself available if not with another customer. I have had nothing but good experiences and great service since this branch opened and I am more than pleased to conduct any in house banking here. read more

I have been using this branch for almost 20 years. Toyota Federal CU to Western Federal CU to Unify. For basic "banking" they're OK - for anything else like debt consolidation or personal loans, they appear to shackled by a corporate management that does not consider long-term loyalty or faithfulness as a Credit Union should. When I applied, complete with a portfolio of debt analysis and all required statements, I was told it looked great and should get approval in two days. Three days later, I got a voicemail saying- Sorry, We cannot accommodate your request at this time. I went to a "real" bank with the exact same portfolio, got approved on-the-spot with the only condition being I open an account with them. I still have my Unify acct only because I have a few auto-payments through them and I don't desire to change at this time; but the "real" bank now gets the bulk of my business. read more

I'm very surprised about the terrible average rating this location gets. I have been using them since it was the Toyota Fed Credit Union which turned into Great Western CU and now Unify. I mostly use their online systems but have never had problems with them. I hope they can convince other customers to to their ratings. read more

I've been trying to make my car payment for well over an hour and they refuse to help me saying my information doesn't match, however I've made my payment the same way EVERY TIME, and even have my Bank statements proving so. Now I sit and wait till they can call me tomorrow. Because their system is messed up I'm paying the cost and dealing with the hassle. Completely and utterly disappointed with Unify, the employees at this location are rude and act as if assisting a client is a burden. I went in for an auto loan, provided all the necessary documentation, got approved and then was met with absolute silence. No responses to calls, emails, and would get the run-around when visiting this branch. I strongly advise anyone considering this Credit Union to look into other offers. My family and I will NEVER do business with them again. read more

I've been with this bank for about 5 years and my account is in good standing. They are fine for absolute basic stuff but don't count on them for much more. They take 7 business days to clear cashier's checks or money orders because they treat them like regular personal checks. They will refuse to contact the other bank to make sure funds are there to expedite time-sensitive matters. Wiring is done off-site so don't expect that to be much faster. All this is frustrating when you are trying to close escrow. I have done the above with no problems at other banks. I recommend you look else where for to banking needs. read more

They purchased my Credit Union, Western, and that used to be AEA. And since Unify took over, I'm seeing a big dip in quality. And just recently I didn't receive funds at a ATM withdrawl and just didn't bother with communicating with me directly and CHARGED me the money I NEVER received. I'm still in dispute. I haven't decided to leave, yet. But, if they can't be trusted to take care of an ATM transaction. They can't be trusted with any of your money. If you're lookung for a new bank, don't choose this one. read more

Employees are unprofessional they need a training on customer service. They're not presentable they're lazy and lousy. If you're working in a financial institution you should be presentable and professional. The employees are so rude they don't even greet or acknowledge tHe customers that's coming in to think that they're not busy. Want to escalate my complaint to the management. read more

I go in on Saturday to apply for a loan. I first tried over the phone and was told to go into a branch due to need to put the application fee inside of my account. I drive an hour to the branch and when I get there it all starts. I walk in 1 customer at the teller and no other members. I see a personal banker sitting down. He doesn't greet me, he looks over at me and turn his head and continue to look at his computer. I walk over and inform him I need help with getting a bank card for my account and apply for a loan. He said ok have a seat. He asked for my check stubs. I stated the phone rep didn't ask for that. Before I could say anything else he was trying to push me out the door. He saw and I explained I drove far what other options do I have. He said you can email them to me. I said ok can we start the process since I am here? He kept going on how I don't have to be there to complete the loan and I informed him, I am here and do not want to have to come back. Let's do the application and I will email the needed documents. After the back and forth we started the application. I added the money to the account and I was approved for the loan. He went over the documents that was needed. I have a notice of action as one of my incomes and he acted like it would not be acceptable that he needs my bank statements. I informed him what a notice of action was and he was like ok, you don't need the 3 months statement. I asked how long after I email the documents will it take to have my money deposit, he said right after you sign the loan. I said ok and left. Here is it Monday afternoon. I emailed all the required documents and I still do not have the loan I was approved for. He received the documents at 9 and 9:30 told me underwriting has to review. I said ok. Emailed him at 10:30 any updates, he said no. Called the office at 12 and was told he was at lunch. They just opened at 9 but ok, everyone has to eat. The lady that answered the line said he will call me in 15 minutes. It is.l now 12:56 still no call or email. I first worked with the LA branch and dealt with Ebony Smith and did not get this bad customer service, I wish now I would have drove a little longer and went to her branch. I am very upset. I paid my fee and got approved but still do not have my money like I was promised! read more

Firstly, I never write reviews... thus will keep this factual. Without, emotion I can safely say UnifyFCU leadership is more concerned with securing their assets than servicing their paying members... it appears that they have astutely forgotten.. THAT ALL members pay their salaries and keep them in business, by means of fees and interest. Not the other way around! My advice to anyone considering using UnifyFCU...IS GO SOMEWHERE ELSE to save time and money...To be clear this is not a bad review of the people who work there. All of whom are wonderfully polite and helpful, its UnifyFCU's policies and procedures that need improvement 1. Applied for an Auto Loan - Loan officer very friendly and polite. 2. The interest rates were never presented in an easy to understand fashion. 3. I was pre-approved and went car shopping. 4. Trying to remain under budget, after significant searching and test driving a found a very reasonably priced car from a small independent dealer. (not a large over priced dealer) 5. When I sent over the details required to get the loan funded..I was told that the "small" dealer had to first register the car via CA DMV in Unify and Buyers name before they issued any check. This is normal. 6. Upon the dealer requesting a standard promissory note that the loan had been funded and ready for payment once confirmation from DMV was received...the Loan officer proceeded to say we don't do that "let me check".... 7. At this point I raised the concern of "why is this so hard"? It's just a simple auto loan? You must have done thousands of these? 8. I had to wait another day for any communication at this point another blocker was raised...which put the "nail in the coffin" 9. Went somewhere else. read more

I regularly make deposits in US Funds that are drawn on a canadian bank. The checks are imprinted with US FUNDS. Unify does not know how to do these transactions and has made mistakes multiple times. The most recent error was a deposit I made in US funds which they then incorrectly converted to Canadian funds and deposited the funds at a conversion rate which was a mistake. As a result, the deposit was $1,000 short and the effort to get this straightened out has been difficult and frustrating. I have had to speak to a call center representative who was only able to document what I said and then send it in email form to the "person who can correct this." They will not give me contact information or tell me the name of the person who is to call me. I have been asked to wait for a return call from a person whose name I do not know and whose title I do not know. This is not good business. I have been banking with this organization since 1991. When it became Unify, it became like all the other generic banks. I will no longer recommend this bank to family and friends and when my transaction is corrected, I will close my account. What made Western Federal better than other banks is gone. read more

I really never expected to use this, but I just had to leave a review. I went into the branch and was waiting in line. The customer that was at the teller window was being obnoxious and making rhetorical comments towards the teller. But the teller Chris was outstanding. He brushed off that awful customer and called me over and attended me with a smile and professionalism. He didn't let that experience affect the way he treated me. He handled my transactions and answered my questions with a friendly smile. Amazing service read more

Buying a car is stressful! That being said, I'm grateful that I finalized the financing of my vehicle with the Irvine Unify branch! Simon was super patient and accommodating the entire time, and really made the process as easy as it could be. Great APR, far lower rates than I had been quoted anywhere else, no pre-payment penalty, affordable gap insurance... I'm a happy camper. There were a few bumps in the road, however Max had some expert knowledge and suggestion, and Courtney ensured this whole process went far better than I was expecting. On the negative side, communication between the phone department and different Unify branches was lacking, which I feel hindered the experience a bit. A lot of the reviews on here mention poor communication from Unify's phone department, and I experienced that to an extent as well. That being said, if I had come into the Irvine branch from the start I'm confident that that miscommunication would have been avoided. For others considering banking here, I'd recommend finding a physical branch and sticking to in person transactions instead of bothering with calling in. Also, of the couple of Unify branches I've visited I like this one best and give it 5 stars. At the end of the day, I walked out of here with the check for my new (used) car in hand, and a great loan. Glad I gave these guys a shot! They even stayed open late to help me get everything same day. Time to relax and start enjoying my new SUV! read more
