I scheduled a basic cleaning over the phone. When I went in for my appointment, I spent nearly 2 hours waiting without ever receiving the cleaning I scheduled. After X-rays and a super quick exam, I was presented with an $800 treatment plan instead of the cleaning I came in for. I declined the additional services, only to be told the hygienist wasn't available and that I could come back later or wait. Today I visited Modern Dentistry in Union City. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the cleanliness of the establishment and how professional and friendly the staff was. All the staff. Sam greeted me and checked me in. She helped me setup my profile on my chart app. That way all of my information and my appointments are easily accessible for future visits. I had needed a tooth extraction for the past few months and with my HMO insurance limits where I can receive treatment. I am picky where I receive treatment. I need to feel a sense of safety and establish trust. This dental office and staff exceeded my expectations. I learned so much about my care for the day and what my future plan will be. Technology was up to date. I had never seen those type of machines before. My X-rays were so clear. Doctor K. was patient and gentle during the examination. She walked me through possibilities of saving my tooth and what risks I would take if I kept the tooth. I really appreciated her taking the time to talk with me about possibilities. She really considered my feelings and boundaries. What really impressed me was how she treated her staff. Made me want to apply. Mohammad did my X-rays and assisted Doctor K. with my extraction . Mohammad asked open ended questions to learn what led me to their office. He then explained the process of what was coming next. He was so kind and explained where the health of my gums were. I'm very disappointed with the dental work I received here. The dentist doesn't give patients the attention they deserve, everything feels rushed, and there's little focus on individual care or concerns. I had bridge work done, and the experience has been extremely frustrating. Since the procedure, I haven't been able to tolerate cold food anywhere near that area, which has significantly affected my day-to-day comfort. Additionally, the tooth supporting the bridge appears to have been ground down too much, leaving it overly sensitive beneath the bridge and also a gap that food is now irritating it. Do better and give your patients the attention they deserve! Overall, this has been a very uncomfortable and disappointing outcome. read more

BEWARE!! Scammers and Fraudsters!! This office led by Dr. Khatri and her billing assistant Samantha are scam artist of the highest rank!! I wasted 2 months with them and I had to report them to my Dental plan for fraud. Avoid at all costs! Besides that the Dr is very rude and defensive when you ask for an explanation or what she wants to do, how is she going to do it or why this would be the correct approach. She pretty much walked out on me during my first visit. Before she walked out though she proposed to do a crown for me where where my total co-pay came down to $1425, while based on my Plan benefits it was supposed to be $300! That is over 4x fraudulent charge!!! She also wanted to make a filling for me for $273 total my share of payment while in my plan it is listed as $70!!! Again 4x upcharge rip off! Not only that but she does an extortion tactic saying that she would only do the filling if she sells me (and if I buy ) also a night guard teeth grinding protection for additional $150. How can this be allowed in a developed country like the US?? Scams of such a magnitude to operate and be unpunished. To deny health care on the premise that you should buy something more. After I filed a fraud report with my dental plan, they corrected down the payment for the crown from $1420 to $450 but then they denied to give me health care again as I had exposed their fraud and they were sour about it. See attached document proof. I wasted 2 months with them and did not receive the due care while my tooth was opened. They do NOT return phone calls, nor emails. Horrible and dishonest service! By the way, they are part of the office network Smile Generation which is another Indian led dental office with similar rip off tactics. Avoid both! read more

This isn't a pediatric dentist, they do basic cleaning. They will send a referral if needed for extra care. However they do not send over X-rays along with these referrals when they are supposed to, I called because I drove 30 mins to an appointment for both of my boys just to be rescheduled, the referral dentist did not have xray machine working... we called modern dentistry and we were met with a rude employee. This employee argued not only with myself but with the office manager at the referral site asking for the X-rays modern dentistry did, the woman on the phone "I don't know how to do that, there's no one here to do it and I can't help you, I don't know why they can't look at the referral... I'm like we did! There's nothing and no X-rays.. she hung up.." I am able to get the X-rays from the original site after making contact with the front desk.. weeks later I get a call today, asking how she can help me when this happened weeks ago. Friendly staff, nice website, and a simple, clean interior. They seem to use very modern equipment that I haven't seen in a lot of other dentist offices, like a 3D digital X-Ray machine. I came for just a basic cleaning. The cleaning felt very thorough, with minimal discomfort. Additional procedures were recommended, but I declined them at that time. The dentist was not overly pushy/mean about forcing me into them, as I have experienced at some other practices. There was some lack of clarity in the pricing of the procedures being recommended, which left me with some uncertainty as to how much I might end up paying. Specifically, the printout they showed me indicated that laser cleaning cost $68.72, and fluoride cost $54. However, the woman at the front desk said that laser cleaning cost $175, and the hygienist told me that fluoride was free. The hygienist then applied fluoride to my teeth, so I hope that it was indeed free. I will recommend this dentist to friends and family and I will return in six months for my next cleaning and may upgrade the rating to five stars if I see improvement in the pricing clarity. read more

Words I would use to describe Dr. Khatri are kind, friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and thorough. I'm not sure what more you can ask for from your dentist.
