Union Coffee is a bit not easy to find even with its big number in the front of the building. Why? Because it's off to the side. Once you find it you will be very pleased. It's cozy inside. There's a private room with glass walls for meetings. An ample size common room and then there's the back garden. That's where my favorite area is. There's a functioning fireplace. A tree and enough sky to let you look up from their comfortable chair and feel the warm kiss of the sun. Not a coffee drinker here but I had the chance to try their mango smoothie. All natural and fresh. Get this if you're not a caffeine chained human :) Very nice lady behind the counter who provided us with awesome customer service! read more

While independent, it does have a strong religious affiliation with United Methodist, which at least is a more inclusive branch of Christianity compared to most others. First United Methodist of Garland built the donation box. And a contemporary worship or "conversational" session meets here on Tuesday nights ("Kuneo") and a more traditional service on Sunday nights ("Studio" - see Union's website for more on both) at 8 pm. And on the map on the wall, there are pins pointing out to a few Methodist churches that are supporting this coffee shop. While I'm not one to support religiously-affiliated coffee shops (which seems to be abound throughout Dallas, btw), this place has a few things in its favor: 1) Great study space! I have not seen a coffee shop with a white board until now. And you can even write on the glass walls. There's also plenty of tables and chairs. Good also for meetings. Little side note: this place has a clean-cut feel with all the seriousness of meeting/ study room necessities and hard floors and walls. Perfect for creatives, business folks, and students, but it's definitely not hipster or hippie - even if you throw in a live band. Lol. 2) 10% of the profits go to charities. Right now it's going to Cape 4 Kids so kids in hospitals can have a cape and have a moment of super hero fun. Sweet! Now as for the coffee - it's not great. The beans are too roasted for my taste. Just order knowing that the beans are dark roasted - add more milk, or just order another kind of drink. Or maybe ask for another kind of roast, if available. Milk substitution costs extra. As other reviewers mention, parking is tight. But not impossible, if you include the surrounding street. I'll be back because I'm really impressed with the study and meeting space here, which I think is unparalleled for any coffee shop. read more

The location is great and includes parking, the space is really cute too! I loved my Chai latte and my husband loved his mango smoothie too! I am taking a stat off for staff. Although the girl who rang us up was professional, she was not very warm or friendly. The barista honestly looked like she was miserable and was not warm or friendly either. This is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. The drinks are tasty, the environment is cozy and homey, and the location is very centralized and convenient. I've been for events, their monthly market, and just for a coffee. I think they have a great thing going here. The prices aren't bad either. Union Coffee is coffee with a cause. Since its opening in 2012, Union has donated 10% of all coffee-related sales to local non-profits. To give you a few examples, Union has provided over 7,000 meals to the North Texas Food Bank, $5,000 in disaster relief efforts, and $2,500 to improve child literacy programs in Dallas. Through these efforts and hosting of community events, such as spoken word poetry nights, Union aims to cultivate the "divine spark" in each neighborhood it touches. Despite how big the ground level of the shop is, it was pretty packed when I visited on a Tuesday afternoon. Lots of young professionals spread out among the tables and couches. The only area that remained empty was the small stage across from the coffee bar. I couldn't tell if there was music playing due to the bustling conversation. To my delight, Union serves Onyx Coffee Lab beans. Since I wasn't able to get pour-over at Brewed+Pressed (the last coffee shop I had visited), I splurged on a $5 cup of El Salvador Santa Rosa. If you don't want to spend that much, there's still the small drip for $2.75. After the barista brought me my drink, I let it cool for a minute. The brew claimed to have notes of green grape, pecan, strawberry, and sugarcane, but all that came through was the strawberry and sugarcane. It's hard for me to tell whether that's due to the roast or the brewing. It was a good cup, but far from the best pour-over I've had, or the best Onyx I've had. I was almost regretful having spent $5. Another regret I had was that I didn't come to visit for an event. With two stories and a large yard and patio area, Union has ample space for its worship services, brunches, board game nights, and storytelling events. While the coffee is good, Union's investment in community is a far bigger draw. I have so many books that I'm behind in reading and wanted to spend a couple hours drinking caffeinated drinks and catching up. I got here right at 9 and ordered a chai because it was so recommended. The employee was extremely friendly and did a great job explaining the different drinks. The interior is incredibly homey feeling that's mixed between a coffee shop and a library. I do love the private rooms and wished I had something like this when I was in school. The chai was indeed awesome and I understood why so many people love it. My second drink was a cappucinno, and more of my style. The small 12 oz size has four shots of espresso. As if that's not enough to wake me up, I also ordered a lemon bar that is probably one of the best lemon bars I've had. The perfect tartness, sweetness and butteriness. Union Coffee is by far my favorite coffee shop that I have discovered in Dallas. It's truly a hidden gem! For one, I love the atmosphere, it's fresh, clean, bright and is social atmosphere but still is a great place to study! I have often times , have gone with my friends and played a game from their cart! They have plenty of games to choose from. The staff there is very friendly! They always have great events going on at Union Coffee Shop. Most importantly, there drinks are PHENOMENAL! My absolute favorite drink is the Matcha Mint Tea. I have very much enjoyed this little coffee shop but was a tad disturbed during my visit on Saturday after I placed my order in-store with one of the counter staff . The barrista blew his nose a couple times & proceeded to fill my order without using any hand sanitizer or washing his hands -- touching everything along the way : cups, lids, pitchers, scoops, etc. I'm sure it was an oversight but in this covid filled climate I found it a bit disconcerting . it was my first trying out union! i ordered an iced chai latte and it was so good. i also order a kolache that i asked to be warmed up. the kolache was alright but still good. the parking situation is good, there's a parking lot directly in front of it. the baristas were really nice. the drink was about 5.50 which is a pretty good price overall. would recommend! read more

Wonderful! Even better than their former location near SMU. Happened to come in when there was a talented group of string musicians inside which made for a memorable and calm atmosphere. Peppermint Matcha. The best matcha drink I've ever had. This coffee shop is honestly in my top five favorite coffee shops just because of that drink. There's a lot of space in the shop as well. There's an upstairs and a downstairs. The downstairs area had several tables as well as a stage set up. The upstairs had a common area for people to chat, a room to study in, and then a separate area with tables to study. This place is pretty cute. It's a coffee house built inside a home. They did a good job but a house is small and so is this coffee house. I often coming here only to automatically leave because there are no seats available. They often have a second floor seating as well but those are usually taken or sometimes closed. The coffee here is good and I enjoyed their green tea latte, but I usually come to coffee shops to study, so the seating arrangement and environment is more important to me (as long as the coffee is not an absolute disaster, which it is at at this place). What I least like about this place is that they make you download an app just to get there wi-fi. It's almost like some marketing scheme to just increase downloads on their app, but it's more annoying than useful. Bottom line: if you want to study don't come here, unless you come super early. read more

Yay Union Coffee House re-opened with a brand new building! It is beautifully decorated indoors with a giant patio outside. They have a very small parking lot right in front. I had the iced matcha mint, and it was delicious! Sweet, but not overly so. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find any tables to sit at (there are only a few seating areas unless you like sharing a small round table with others). I like that Union donates part of their proceeds to charities, but I don't think I'd come back to Union to study/read because of the parking and seating situation. read more
