The subs were excellent the couple times I've gotten them. I always ask for "dug out", or "inside out" where they scoop out bread to make more room for the sub stuff. Today ordered a cheese steak sub with provolone, fried onions and sweet peppers on the side. I got no "sub" ingredients or fried onions. Very VERY little cheese, unlike the usual cheesesteaks from other tiny stores. Tasted unsalted. Not happy, as I've been "tasting" it for a week before I got it, and am "bummed". I eat here every time I'm down in Newark around lunch time. It's always been a consistent sub shop in Newark. My favorite one down that way.

Can't rate. Close friend ordered lunch for friends bec her husband had just died. Found website difficult to navigate but finally managed the $100 + order plus tip. They asked for phone and email. We Didn't realize it was pickup. After an hour passed-no delivery. We called and they chged us the full amt and wouldn't even refund even the $18 tip. We explained the situation and asked for fresh food or even a credit for another time. She was a customer and had always loved the food. We thought they could have been compassionate and offered something. Or better, they should have called or emailed since they had the info while the food was still good. Why ask us for that info and not use it. We accept blame but are disappointed in their lack of customer care. read more

First time visit to Malin'd market and deli. I have passed by this place several times and finally decided to give it a try. The deli was clean. I must have come during a down time and there was only one other customer inside. I was expecting a long wait, so I decided to look around. There are a lot of options for chips and drinks. Everything was well stocked. I ordered a cheesesteak and it was ready pretty quickly. The cheesesteak was packed with steak. I think next time I would order with extra cheese. Ordered a medium ham sub today and to make a very long story, short.... there was a discrepancy in the sandwich and although the manager told me that my sandwich did have honey mustard on it, although it looked VERY much like mayo which i am allergic to...I took the sandwich back to the store..15 min away from me after I threw it in the bag and it looked horrible.... the mngr advised me she would NOT be remaking the sandwich nor returning my money so not only was my time wasted, I walked out with no sandwich and out of $16.... obviously she never heard of the customer is ALWAYS right, even when they are wrong.... humor them... so she decided that 1 sandwich and being right was worth bad word of mouth and possibly losing more business!!!! It's an old style deli that you typically see in the northeast although living in NYC most of my life I always considered Delaware to be a southern state lol. Anyway, I have not been here in a while so I decided to stop in last Thursday for a hero / hoagie, however you want to call it. I went with the hot roast beef medium size with provolone, lettuce, tomato and mayo. It came out quick, it was hot and was delish. I got some Charles Chips on the side and an iced tea. Prices here are reasonable and my order came out quick. There is seating inside and outside although it's limited to a few tables. I believe the cold cuts here are Dietz and Watson since a DW delivery truck was in the lot when I was here. I'm more of a Boars Head fan but the roast beef I got was pretty good. The deli was very clean & packed with people coming in & waiting for their orders also placing their order. The deli was well stock with beverages, chips, baked goods, ice cream ect. Usually Malins is solid but today ordered a large Italian lettuce,pickles, onions, oil and extra meat... The sub tasted like cheese and the follow up flavor was the vinegar from the pickles... Aside from the non Italian sub flavor of the sandwich there was not extra meat...and barely any meat it was like a vegetable sub. whoever made this sandwich you can tell they rushed through making it and didn't take time or effort to make a decent sub let alone follow the directions....nothing is more disappointing than PAYING for extra meat and getting a flimsy barely any meat sub 1/10 for the horrible flavor and the terrible experience....DO BETTER Malins...whether you're busy or not shouldn't affect making a quality product to everyone that patronizes your business read more

I read the reviews for this Delj and decided to give it a try. Delaware, you guys are definitely hiding this gem! This place is less than a mile from The University of Delaware. As soon as I hit the parking lot, I was able to find a spot. Once I walked in, place is packed and there are tons of people waiting on their order. So I'm new at this but the guy at the counter guides me. You order THEN walk around store and shop. Once your food is ready, you bring items you want to purchase with your food, pay and go. I ordered the medium Philly with extra cheese. I also got a slice of cake, cheesecake and chips. The Philly had tons of meat and cheese. Bread was soft. I just wish the meat had a little more salt. It wasn't greasy. Surprised? Yes? The curly fries were on point! Crispy, greasy bag and delicious (peep the photo). Prices are great. You can't get sizes like this in southern states for the price. Slices of pies and cake 3 dollars and below! Also up north this is the land of Herrs chips and Tastycakes. There are so many varieties! Staff for the most part was very pleasant. Once lady was yelling aggressively for people to come pick up their food. She was also yelling at staff and another staff member told her she didn't have to be so rude. Wow. Apparently, I was told this is northern hospitality. Nevertheless, all 6 staff members were working hard to push out food as fast as they can. Yes, the staff wore masks and gloves.
