Hello Parents, Please consider enrolling your child in another school, upca is very messed up, some teachers here are short-tempered and will get mad at anything. kids will get detentions for simply "not walking on the blue line". This is very unreasonable and im pretty sure all the other kids at this school would agree. also, teachers here dont teach man. especially in middle school, the middle school students gotta go home and teach theirselves off of youtube, (im one of those students, im in 7th). teachers here most of the time just put assignents on the board and are like "due tomorrow everyone!". Also the substitutes are horrible man. They just sit there and let that class do whatever, so when the actual teacher comes back theyre mad. one time i walked into a 1st grade classroom and saw a substitute sitting on her phone while the class was just chaotic man. I am so impressed with UPCA. The teachers as well as the administration really care about the students but what's so impressive is the education is tops. This school is really preparing my grandchild for a strong, bright future. I highly recommend sending your children here. read more

Admin is a joke. This is NOT a school if your child has ADHD/ADD. Communication is also non existent. 0/10.

My daughter is a Special Needs Student with a 504 and an IEP in place. This school said they have a great SN program, We trusted! We thought that because its a smaller school, she was going to be recieving more help, or at least the help she needs having the acomodations she deserves. School started in August, since day 1 she is been bringing home Fs nobody has reached out to me regarding her grades! When I talk to my daughter ... she is been having no help and no accomodations. Doing the same work and the same time range that everybody else have.We were supposed to have an IEP meeting the 29th and when the meeting comes nobody showed up! We email text and call the school... they told us that her IEP case manager quited! Nobody emailed us or called us to say Hey this happened. Ok... We get upset call the school Every staff member... at all times, have meetings and cannot help the parents. On the other side... My son is in 8th grade. They said they were giving him Algebra cause he is in Advanced High School classes aparently it wasnt Algebra. He took an assesment in the new school he is not near the basics of Algebra! 1. The assistant principal does not care for student safety. 2. Mr. Payne denying basic human rights. My first issue with the school is they do not care for student safety. My son was walking to go get his little sister from the school on a rainy day. Assistant principal did not allow him to seek shelter when it was raining and lightning. She made him stay outside like a stray dog. I called the school not sure if anything was done about this. Her excuse was he didn't show ID. He is 14 so he doesn't have an ID. That was a reason for not letting him seek shelter in lightning. My second issue with the school is basic human rights. My daughter called me walking from her school crying saying she was about to Pee her pants. I pulled my son out the first year october 2018 he was 6 and the teachers with only 1 month in the school called me for a meeting to talk about his struggles in math, I knew there was more to it, my son was tired n upset everyday. They changed her homework policy 4 times in 4 months like wth. Then he got hospitalized for a very bad bacterial Infection imagine 100+ kids and they were all getting sick. after I pulled my son out after 2 months he told me how angry and upset his teacher was all the time I wasn't happy w the school Now he's in 2 grade with a 3grade reading level and exceeding in math Everything was just wrong The communication was awful with the teachers The school just wants the scores read more

My daughter loves her teachers and the staff of UPCA! I appreciate the communication provided by the principal and staff. Since my daughter started last year, the staff and teachers have made the most of the hand we have all been dealt and ensured that the students health safety and happiness were top priority! read more

I do not have any children enrolled at UPCA, (mine is grown & out on his own), however, I have friends that do and am impressed with everything I have heard. If only I had a school like UPCA when my son was younger because I feel it would have been a great opportunity for him. I am very pleased with Union Park Charter Academy. My grandson will be attending for his second year in September and I am looking forward to him getting back to in class learning. No school is perfect; but during this COVID-19 situation they did very well. Prior to that, my grandson was really enjoying and excited about school for the first time since starting. If you have an issue address it, they will listen and hear you. They are attentive to each child's level of learning and ensuring that no one is left struggling behind while those who are proficient are not held back from their full potential. Like all schools their are positive and negative situations and this year has challenged us all, but I am looking forward to a positive year with my 5th grader. UPCA needs all us parents to do our part as well; donating, volunteering, supporting our students and teachers, and just showing up. I plan to do my part to ensure that Union Park Academy has many more successful years as an At Rated School. Our kids are depending on us! read more

This charter school could not be the best. But is starting. The teachers most are good. But not all the system is good. They do not tell parents what's going on when they do not go good in Math or Language. But I support my Charter School I have confidence that is going to be a good school sooner than later , and let's work all for the best And do NOT pull your kids out of UPCA. We love it! It's a new school so like anything new took a little adjusting! But they are so great with parent suggestions and opinions. My daughter learned so much and really loved it! I also love how locked down the school is- safety wise such a good thing! Definitely recommend. read more

We don't give 5 stars just because is a brand new school that like anything new needed to make multiple changes at the beginning. We love the school. My son couldn't be happier. The administration is awesome and very proactive. We are definitely staying for next year. read more
