In the midst of the pandemic, my HOA advised me I needed to replace a portion of my cantilever beam at my front door porch entry due to dry rot. Because of the pandemic, it took one (1) year of painful interaction with 20+ contractors, sorting through varied proposed scopes of work, with quotes that ranged from either the job was too small or too big, or would cost anywhere from $5,600 to $30,000. Not one of the scopes of work was the same, and some entailed completely having to rebuild my front door entry. I was at my wits end at this point and decided to go back to the drawing board to try to find a new set of contractors to go through the process with. I'm so glad I gave it one more go around! Right out of the gate, Manuel Sanchez with Meja Construction asked for photos and a copy of the architectural/engineer drawings I had paid the initial contractor for. Long story short...as it turns out, all that needed to be done was a little portion of dry rot needed to be removed and repaired; NO construction nor destruction of my front porch entry was necessary! And, the cost for the repair was Less than what the initial contractor charged me for his required architectural/engineer drawings, (which cost me $3,000+).
