November 2020 update. The menu has been matured. Dropped in and had a flight of IPA's and ordered drunken fish sliders. Came with a side of Fries. They were awesome by themselves but the vinegar I put on them them took them to another level. The Lke perch fish in the slider took me back to my childhood. Hot, fresh, battered fish. Love this place. I stopped with a girlfriend on the way home from a music festival. Perfect atmosphere. Like visiting your cool aunt! It's a big place but still has cozy atmosphere vibes. You can sit at the bar, high tops, low tops or the most exquisite little lounge area. There was a small stove I bet they light up I. The winter. I want to return to find out. Solid place. Cool building. People were nice and helpful. I'm not a big beer drinker, so...drinks were pretty good (bourbon) but wine selection is poor. Food was good (had perogies and kale salad), but nearly everything on the menu is deep fried. Would like to see more fresh food options. The bar setup is odd - weird shape and no TVs. I love the atmosphere. I tried 2 of the 8 beers and they were tasty. We tried the cheese pretzel and spicy tots that were both very good. The UBC burger was good, but could be so much better! Nice little brewpub restaurant (in a desert of restaurants) I had a beer sampler of five different beers, they were all very good. For dinner I had the pick 2 sliders, I had the meatball and the carved flank steak. Both were good but I think the steak would be better shaved instead of being the thick meaty cut that it is. (JMO). I'm not big on French fries but I'm telling you theirs are delicious. I ate 'em all. The building is an old furniture store, very historic. A lot of hard surfaces makes the sound waves bounce endlessly, so it kinda loud. You can tell it's a fairly new start up, so some lack of decor but what they have is cool. Love the gold tin ceilings. My wife and I stopped for dinner and we were super impressed with the quality of the home made offerings. The cole slaw is particularly delicious with a variety of julienned green veggies. It was perfectly dressed with light vinegar and little or no mayo. We loved the chicken tenders, nicely breaded and fried to a crispy and tasty brown crust; they were both light and juicy. The spicy tater tots were great too, and we experimented with dipping them in the home-made bbq sauce. It was actually a nice pairing as an alternative to their signature house ranch dipping sauce. I have been holding off on my review because I really wanted to like this place.... the food is okay, a little over priced considering it's not that special... service is sloooooowwwwwwww... first time there I ordered sliders, it took nearly an hour. A manager dropped by and apologized that they were backed up in the kitchen , they arrived not long after...cold. The following visit was just for a beer and a shared plate and the server was disinterested in bringing out a second round so we left for another location Third visit was a final chance, went for taco "special " it's fine that we could not mix and match but their reasoning was "it's too hard to manage when we're busy in the evening " We were there for lunch, there were six other people. Finally got a glass of water AFTER some of the blandest, driest tacos I've ever had were set in front of me. Gave up on salad dressing and paid my bill and left for the final time. The menu has evolved for the good over the two years Uniontown has been open. The burnt ends are probably the best single item I have eaten at the brewery. The The Studebaker Blonde Stout and the Winter Ale are solid picks right now for me personally. I am not an IPA guy. The hummus appetizer in the fall was super but not as big a fan of the sweet potato version. Service was amazing, the host and our server were both friendly and on-the-ball. We were seated quickly, he took our order promptly, and the food was at the table before we knew it. I had a roasted feta with olives and tomatoes and perfectly warm and soft naan bread chips and it was one of the best things ever and I wish I had some more right now. Passing through Ashland with pals we got the hungries. Lucky us to stumble on to UBC....very chill place! #1: Waitstaff made it terrific....eye contact, smiles, helpful and super friendly. #2: BEER! Their own with various tasty choices...barkeep recommend the flight...5 oz pours, 5 choices, 8 bucks! #3: food quality, prep, and presentation. Not a big menu...a solid menu. What they offer is very good. #4: UBC repurposed a long time furniture store and did it with class and charm. This is a cool brewpub with a welcomed upscale feel and presence. So I like this cool little southern Ohio dig. And it seems the whole of Ashland agrees cause I feel like they were all there lol! I bit of a wait but good food with a decent amount of vegetarian options. The beer was hot and miss. Very strong darks but the IPA's were lacking a bit. I feel like they mistook IBU's for flavor in IPA's. The Dunkkle was my favorite though! As far as the food goes I highly recommend the tots and the perogi but skip the beat burger. It's literally just that... a beet on a burger bun lol. Worth a stop if you're in town or passing through but not sure i would make the 1 hr drive just for them unless I planned on stopping at JABF as well. read more

We stumbled across this place on our way home from a trip to C-bus. First off let me talk about the beer. I tried 3 different varieties and all were unique and very good. The service was excellent. Not just our server but others stopped by to top of refills and see if we needed anything. This was a Saturday evening and they were really busy to boot. Great beers and much needed in down town. I just have a problem eating there. The food is fantastic, but if you go during peak hours, you will wait. And wait and wait. Last time I was in it was an hour and 20 mins before I got my food. Then I didn't even get one item even though it was on my bill. They took care of it, but it was disappointing. So go, but maybe try off hours or go with someone you want to talk too for awhile. read more

Thank god Ashland finally has another non-chain restaurant. It was definitely needed. Uniontown has fantastic food, absolutely great flavors and almost always cooked to perfection. Depending on the day and time, you may be in for a wait. It does feel like they're short staffed whenever they have more than half of their tables filled. But it is worth the wait if you have the time to spare. I don't drink beer, but my friends and family who do aren't a huge fan of the selection. It's not bad, it's just not fantastic, but still worth a try. The servers are genuinely friendly, and if a mistake is made, they try to fix it as quickly as possible. The only thing keeping this from being 5 stars is the fact that an 8/9 year old kid was constantly running back and forth through the entire brewery the entire time that we were there. It was either an employee's kid of the owners' kid because he kept going upstairs to the office area, and he was full sprinting and slamming his feet on the ground. Totally ruined the experience for me and fiancé, the food and drinks and service was all great, but if that kid is there next time we are just leaving and going somewhere else. Even though I'm too young to drink I'm not to young to try the food. I'm a vegetarian, so finding a good, non veggie burger meal is tricky. Usually at places I end up with a salad or a veggie burger, but not here. I ordered the Portobello Mushroom. It was a jumbo grilled mushroom, marinated in balsamic vinaigrette. On top it had three delicious tomatoes and mozzarella and basil. On the side it came with olive oil bread and I ordered the house coleslaw. Overall I thought this meal was amazing, I strongly recommend it to everyone. The atmosphere is inviting and very rustic modern. The staff was friendly along with the owners. Don't bother calling ahead to make a reservation. More than once I've called ahead only to find when we arrived that they did nothing to prepare. Plenty of empty tables but because they seat every other table they didn't have enough empty tables together to seat us. Since their service is always slow, there was still no way to seat us after 45 minutes. read more

This is my favorite place to go for a brew and bite to eat in Ashland. It is so unique and they play off the history of the building which makes me love it even more. The beer is so good, my personal favorite is the Old man Gilbert Porter. I was never a porter girl until I tried this, SO GOOD. They also have s sessional Carmel Apple sangria right now which is really yummy too. I have never had a bad thing to eat here as well. Currently I have been loving their Taco Tuesday's. All sandwiches are great and I can't get enough of the fries too. Will continue to go for a good bite to eat and a great pint of beer! read more
