We had an AWESOME time at Unionville vineyards! I went here for a bachelorette party and was not disappointed. Rich was knowledgeable about all the wines we sampled, was thorough when responding to any questions our party of 12 had, and always made sure we had our water glasses full. He was engaging throughout his entire description and even went into detail about the history of the vineyard. We just love Unionville Vineyards Winery. We have been going there for more years then I can remember. The quality of their wines has been consistently good. As Fine Vine Club members we just love how we are treated as family. John and Tiffany always make sure we are happy and taken care of each time we visit. I've been to all the central NJ wineries. And this is the best!!!! Its absolutely gorgeous property. Tasting room overlooks their production area in a huge barn. They can host weddings and other events inside and outside on their patio. Not only are the grounds gorgeous but it's by far the BEST wine in the area. Bottles are reasonably priced, starting around $20/bottle. I love this place!!! If you can only visit one winery in this area.... this is it. read more

We did a wine tasting which included six different 1 oz wines each. Andy was our Tasting Room Associate and he was awesome!! He knew so much about wine and he made it fun. We go to a lot of wineries and Andy was by far the best at his job! The wine was absolutely delicious! I usually only like 1 or 2 wines from my tasting, but I liked almost every single one. We purchased several bottles of wine to take home. I loved the atmosphere as well. We will definitely return with friends again soon. read more

My husband and I absolutely love visiting Unionville Vineyards. It's our favorite winery in New Jersey. On our latest trip to Unionville, we took their new tour and tasting where we were able to see a more in depth look into the Unionville process by taking a peak at the wine floor, the vineyard behind the farmhouse, and the barrel room. Laura was our host and was a great guide who was able to answer all of the questions that the group threw her way. We have great experiences every time we visit Unionville. We try to visit about once a month because we find that their menu has been changing often with wines being added on a fairly regular basis and usually for a short time as they are a small producer with limited stock. Our favorites are probably their pet nat Riesling, Big O (their Bordeaux style blend), and the Pheasant Hill Chardonnay. We have been served by many people and everyone is always super pleasant. Andrew, the tasting room manager, is super knowledgeable and always willing to help us figure out exactly what to taste that day. We like that the winery allows you to bring your own food so that after we finish a tasting we either grab glasses or bottles and sit out at their picnic tables and relax. The wines are typically on the drier side, which is a little different in New Jersey but it's one of the reasons we like them so much. Both their Cool Foxy Lady and Port are on the sweeter side and are always a great way to end the tasting. We love the variety of red, white, rose, and blush wines offered here. We are always planning our next visit when we finish one tasting. read more

Unfortunately, we arrived at the vineyards about a half an hour late for the tour. I can imagine the tour would have been fantastic, since the grounds were beautiful and the interior was as well. We headed straight for a tasting instead. The tasting room was very nice, with a sort of rustic elegance. However, it was not air conditioned, packed to the brim (Saturday afternoon in July), and sweltering. The space is the converted loft area of a barn, so the heat rises and it was very stuffy. Our first server was a bit stand offish, but we got passed to a younger woman who was quite nice. I have never been passed around at a winery before, so I didn't care for that. $5 to sample 5 wines--but not any of the "premium" wines, or $10 to sample 8 from any part of the menu. Those prices are just too high, especially since they dont offer any credit off a bottle purchase. We did the $5 tastings, so I cannot vouch for the "premium" wines, but everything we tried was good, but nothing really stood out as great, the prices of their classic wines are very reasonable though. We did wind up getting a bottle of the "Revolutionary Red" (which was really more of a rose) since we were going to a BYO that night, and it was good--but overall the experience left something to be desired. read more

I've been here before for one of those 'rustic hippy' weddings where the reception was in a tent and then dancing was in their indoor barn space. Had a nice time. So I decided to come back recently for a wine tasting. $10 for 8 samples. Compared to other paid tastings their pours are really, really,weak - two sips at most. Some pour more generously (however minimally more generously) than others. We went when the temp outside for 80-90 degrees. For some reason, there was no AC inside and with minimal to no seating it was not the most comfortable experience. I won't rate Unionville based on how much I liked their wines - I really think that's completely subjective. I probably would have enjoyed it a lot more had they turned on the AC, provided some minimal food to go with the wine (even if it's just bread crumbs), and been just a tad more liberated with their pours. I will say, my favorite is their dessert wine, Cool Foxy Lady. Bought a bottle home to enjoy. read more

Went on a Sunday for a tasting and had an absolutely amazing afternoon with the fiancé. We had a 2pm tasting with Laura who took us through the entire portfolio of the wines they had available by the glass! Definitely go for the 'zig zag' so you can taste everything they have to offer! Went for their 1st Annual Tires on the Terroir event where they offered wine tasting and food from several food trucks. Open 7 days a week, from 12-5pm, Unionville welcomes guests to come in for tastings or even to gather under their tent or grassy fields for a picnic and will host private and cooperate parties. I absolutely love the vineyard! Very classy yet rustic tasting room. A great variety of wines. Just keep in mind that some of the wines have a little acidic taste from the citrus nodes. In case you taste the wine there and bring home a bottle, you might then realize the acidity. The lighter and sweeter wines like "Fields of Fire" is amazing and one of their more popular wines. You can buy cheese and crackers there, but I would suggest to bring your own since they have don't have a variety. You can bring your own food to sit outside at picnic tables, or have them host an event. When they have bands playing. the live music is a nice added touch. Overall this is a great place to hang out with friends or a date. read more

This was the first stop on our NJ Vineyard drive today. It was $10 per person for an 8 wine pour per person. As another reviewer noted, it was somewhat warm in the tasting room. It is on the upper level of the building, and it has fans but i can't say that there was air conditioning or not? There was live music outside, i am assuming if you wanted to buy a bottle of wine and go outside - this is what it was for but there were not many areas set up for seating. They had a private bridal shower downstairs so this space was a rental space. It was a nice visit, decent wines, but i thought maybe a bit pricey for NJ wines? I will admit that it might just be the way i think, but if i can buy a 90 point bottle of Napa or Sonoma for $25 - $30 or a NJ wine, i am going for the Cali option. Its a nice day visit, and because you can hit more than one, put it on the list. read more

I am not surprised that Unionville Vineyards was recently in the Star Ledger's list of the Top 25 wineries in NJ. It is a wonderful experience from the beautiful country setting, to the delicious wines and the very knowledgeable and friendly staff. We were lucky to meet Sarah in the tasting room. She is so pleasant and shared her knowledge about the different wines and the foods you can pair them with. My friend and I had such a lovely time at Unionville Vineyards yesterday. Susan conducted our wine tasting and she was a delight! She was knowledgable and truly added something special to our tasting experience. It was nice to have a tasting with someone who loves wine as much as we do! Unionville was hosting a large event yesterday evening but that did not take away from the attention they gave to walk-in customers. I visited Unionville Vineyards again yesterday to pick up some gifts for my Japanese friends before a trip. If you live in Jersey and haven't been here, you're not getting to full Jersey experience. The Wine Advcate, New York Times, and Wall Street Journal compare them to the finest wines in the world- and yes, they are in JERSEY. I've been tasting there 3 times and the scenery, vibe, and history of the area is a 10. Their "Big O" is the best wine I've ever had. All the Wines were dry- just the way I like it. They also do local made cheese, meat, and crackers to accompany the tasting sessions. I ended up buying a case. Can't recommend enough- it's a Jersey (and American?) gem. read more

One word: BLAH! Upon entering this vineyard I already sensed a negative vibe from the two serving clerks behind the bar as they were not knowledgeable nor welcoming in their overall body language and spoken word attitude. For only one choice of tasting at $5.00 where patrons are unable to keep their tasting glass yet six wines from their tasting menu are marketing "sold out" is beyond discouraging. Staff were unwilling to respond to our questions or comments about their vineyard or grapes used in their wine. Acrimonious is how the staff project their image to clients where my party of four with a good friend and fellow Yelper Marlene G. were not SINCERELY welcomed or warmly received to be served. This plaguing feces of the mouth and body language greatly looses momentum and degrades morale onto clients. My personal intake: I choose NOT to go where I am unwelcome as that negative aurora masks the ignorance of the mouth to falsify a closed and locked dead heart. Unwarranted hostility and very antagonistic to our party of four. Furthermore, the so-called "breathtaking view" is surely nothing to gasp for as I do not see anything to awe for my eyes to be taken by impression. This claim is specious. The staff is surely operating on a NON-UNION competence!! read more

I been wanting to come to this winery for about a year now and since I was going to Philly for the weekend it worked out. When we first got there we noticed they were setting up for a wedding and since it hadn't started yet the people setting up were super nice and let us walk around and check out the premises. After snooping through the wedding setup we went upstairs to start our wine tasting. You pay $10 and you get to try 8 different wines. They give us a list of about 20 different kinds all with a very detailed description. I decided to go with 3 whites, 4 reds and 1 dessert. From the whites my favorite was the Eureka (even bought a bottle), reds I loved the Syrah and The Big O, the port (dessert) was good but not really my thing. The guys that worked there were very nice and even gave us a recommendation for a place to eat since we don't know the area. This is a great winery with very friendly employees and beautiful grounds for a special event. read more

I would highly recommend a tasting here you get 8 tastings of wines with great description of what wines pair well with a particular food. We came here with a groupon deal but were not treated any differently than if we were the usual paying patrons. Our server was a well-spoken, very easygoing young guy (22!) who really catered to us and answered all our questions. I noticed that the other staff were more of the same; we also got an additional sample even when we had used up our 8 choices. This vineyard has true confidence in its product, reflected in that customer-centric service. If you do nothing else here, sample the award-winning Chardonnay. Life. Changing. I'm a red fan myself and fell in love with the Revolution Red. Can't wait to come back! read more

I hate Pinot Grigio. HATE it. I love all other white wines from Italian to French. From CA to Spain. I love to try wines from more unique, small vineyards all over the globe- but I just can't understand that one note Gris that all this hubbub is about. I just don't get it. Why is everyone so in love with this wine? I've tried different labels again and again,and nothing. It isn't disgusting or anything, just BORE-ing, nothing to it. I am unfortunately also highly allergic to almost all rose and red wines, which puts me in a little white wine bubble of limitations. There are still plenty of wines to choose from and enjoy, but I am limited to what I can have. I recently went to the Unionville Vineyards to do something different for the day. I didn't expect much from a New Jersey Vineyard to be perfectly honest. I thought there was a good chance that it would all taste like piss, but I went along for the ride in hopes to have a little fun and get a little buzz. I was pleasantly surprised! They have a tasting menu, and for "X" number of dollars you can sample 5 wines, 7 wines, etc (i think it was about $10.00 for the 5 wine sampling-maybe even a few bucks less). There were five white varieties to choose from and so I opted for the five tasting since I would have to discount all red options. Unfortunately, one out of five was the Gris. I figured I would give it a go, rather than turn my nose up at it, and holy gee willekers! That Pinot Grigio was amazing!! Well....it was as amazing as a Pinot Grigio could get anyway. Tasty, fresh, crisp, mineral quality to it that I didn't think a Pinot Grigio could even offer-really delightful. I bought a few bottles of it, and can't wait to make the next trip down to pick up some more! Pinot Grigio= Success! It's not that I hate Pinot Grigio-I just prefer my grapes homegrown. read more

I have been to this vineyard about 3 or 4 times and enjoyed my experience every time. The road leading to the vineyard is gravel so drive slow. The grounds are beautiful and $10 for 8 tastings. The first time I came here was for a wine tasting event. There were tents set up in a U shape. An Italian restaurant had a tent set up to sell food. There was a tent selling chocolate, another selling marble cheese plates and etc. The vineyard also had a session for cheese and wine pairings and another session for chocolate and wine pairings. There's only a few picnic tables so I suggest bringing chairs or a blanket to sit down, relax and enjoy the wine. This time around I went before my trip to Philly and it looked as if they were setting up for a wedding. There was a white tent with tables set up outside. Where the distilleries are in the "cave", they set up the bar and name cards. From what I seen, it looked like a perfect rustic wedding. My friend and I proceeded to the second floor for our wine tastings. Remember $10 for 8 tastings. The staff greeted us immediately and started friendly conversation. We were given the list of wines which had approximately 25 wines on it. My favorites were the Eureka, Fields of Fire and I'm on the fence about the Vat 19 which is a port wine, too sweet for me to buy a bottle. read more

Love love loved this place! As a native California, I guess I'm naturally a wine snob. So many great wines come from my home state. I live in Chattanooga now but was visiting the New Hope/Lambertville area and my friends planned an afternoon of wine tasting. I really wasn't expecting much. New Jersey and wineries don't seem to go together. But this place was fantastic! A really cool vineyard and the tasting room was very spacious. A wedding was just ending as we arrived and they were walking out of the "main house" to the reception area, just outside the tasting room area. How romantic it seemed. But back to the wine; like I said, the tasting room is spacious, though mostly standing areas, which normally isn't a problem but I happen to be temporarily handicapped with a boot on my foot and can't stand for long. They found us an area at the end of the bar and a stool for me. Very attentive staff and kind. And frankly, they had some really great wines. Some of my favorites were the dry Riesling and the Fields of Fire (a rose'), the Revolutionary Red was just about everyone's favorite. Great blended wine and very reasonably priced. I bought a bottle for us to enjoy at dinner later that evening. The farmland around the winery is gorgeous. So much green. I would definitely come here again and proudly say, New Jersey wine is actually goo! read more

This is fantastic well run vineyard! The location, amongst rolling hills, is some of New Jersey's finest. While we didn't arrive in time for the tour, we do plan on returning to attend. The staff, in particular John, was both friendly, and extremely knowledgeable about both the wine he was promoting as well as vineyard itself. Most vineyards I have been to do not include nearly as much history and back story in their tastings. With the premium tasting we were able to try 8 of their wines. I usually like to branch out and try a few new things just to see if the smaller wineries have a new take on a type of wine I don't tend to like. In this case I was pleasantly surprised with Unionville's rose. I don't normally like lighter red wines, but this was truly a fantastic surprise. I can't recommend this location enough. During the summer there are several events with live music and trivia that add to the wonderful experience. read more
