Bought a Groupon for eyelash extensions so that's how I stumbled across Unique. Got my lashes done by Josie. She was super cool and did my lashes a lot faster than I was expecting. So that was nice. But about a week later I noticed I was starting to lose some lashes on one eye only. So I called to see how much it would be to just fix that and the owner, Theresa, told me to come in so she can see what she was working with. She saw me same day and right away offered to fix my lashes at no cost. Not only did she repair the loss of lashes but she added more for a more dramatic look and used a different glue too. Wow. This was the first time I had my lashes done in almost 2 years. I read some reviews and decided to go with Unique. I messaged the salon the night before and heard back early that morning and they had a same day appointment available. On their yelp page, there is deal that states "$69 for Full set lashes w/silk mink". They told me in the messages when booking the appointment that it wasn't for mink, I should've taken that as a warning not to go here, but I figured that synthetic lashes had come a long way since I last tried them. They really haven't, at least not the ones offered here. I get there a few minutes early and check in. Fabiola, I believe her name was, had no idea what yelp deal I was referring to, even after I showed her, but she honored it, the price, not the mink. The room was down the hall in the back. It looked very clean and inviting, but was kind of cold. While getting my lashes done, it was pretty uncomfortable. I was freezing and I could hear the lash technician's earphones pretty loud as well as the other patrons speaking very loud and someone's child yelling and crying. Maybe some ambient music or closing the door could've made that part of the experience better. Fabiola kept pulling on my lashes and getting the glue in my eyes. Toward the end it felt like she was plucking out my own eyelashes I kept squirming because it hurt so much, but I was afraid she'd actually poke my eye if I moved too much. She didn't give me any instructions or even a lash comb. The lashes themselves weren't quite what I expected. I said I wanted fuller and longer on the outside corners. These were a bit fuller, but extremely long. I have a lot of my own lashes which are pretty long and I wasn't wanting so much length, but they looked acceptable and I wasn't going to have her remove them and do them again, they weren't terrible, just not what I asked for. They were definitely very "fake" looking. I couldn't remember feeling any itching or stinging last time I had them done, so I couldn't remember if it was normal. I was super careful not to touch them or get them wet for the first 24 hours, which was difficult the first hour or so, when they were so itchy, but I remembered that from having them done before. They seemed pretty uncomfortable and the lashes themselves were so thick. When I closed my eyes, they felt extremely tight and I noticed that some were glued above my lash line and on to very fine hair that grow right above my lash line on my lids. Later that night a those fell off. The next morning a few more had fallen off as well as the days to come. I messaged about 5 days later when the empty patches became more obvious. It looked like they were all double lashes and had fallen off without my own lash, thank goodness because I'd have bald lids. The ones with my own eyelashes attached that shed had multiple sets of the double lash glued to them. Some kept twisting. In the messages Teresa responded. She tried to reassure me that they usually put the double lash on the outside corners of the eye, except these were all over. She said I needed to come in asap for them to look at it. I informed her that I work 10-7 ( which is their hours) in Pasadena Monday through Friday but I was free Saturday. She kept insisting I come in before that, even though I kept explaining that it would be impossible. I don't think most people could justify to their boss that the need to come in late or leave early because of eyelashes After some back and forth, she still tried to get me to leave work early to go in before telling me they were fully booked on Saturday. She said she was waiting for me that day. Around 7, I was still at work and told her that unless they are going to wait for me to drive from Pasadena, it's not going to work for me. She responded, what about tomorrow 9:15. I asked if she meant 9:15 am? Which again, would not work for me because I work at 10 or 9:15pm which would be fine. She never responded. And almost a week later I have not heard anything back. I decided to go to a place recommended by a coworker who's lashes always look great. They have much better hours that work for people who have full time jobs. And they offer Siberian mink at a better price along with many other options including length. During the process there was never any stinging, burning, pulling, or pinching. They have been extremely comfortable and so far I haven't noticed any fall out, except for the ones left they were applied at Unique. Don't waste your time or money here. Go somewhere with quality product. read more

I made an appointment for today Monday at 5pm. When i arrived at 450pm the door was locked as i looked inside i noticed all the lights were off and no one was inside. I read the hours sign and indeed it said they close until 7pm. I received no cancellation call to let me know that no one was able to see me for the eyelash extensions i wanted. Very unprofessional. Where do I Begin! Best eyelash and facial place I've ever been too. I found this Gem on groupon a bit apprehensive about eyelash extensions but saw great reviews on Jer and decided to try it and came out a very happy client! She is very patient and answers all your questions and takes her time with you. You will be very happy and excited with your results. I told her about my break out and that I was on antibiotics for cystic acne. She informed me she did facials and I felt very comfortable with her so I decided to try it. for eyelash extensions, do not come to this place. Run! Even with a groupon, stay away from this place!!. I generally write positive reviews, but this place was horrible. I am a regular lash customer at Spa Carrera, but on leave from work right now so decided to check out a place close to home. Boy do I regret that. First, as I called to let them know I was 3-4 minutes late (because I'm nuts about punctuality), they told me they didn't show my appointment, but I could come in and they could see what they could do. When I walked in, they told me that they'd been looking at the wrong date. NOt sure how that happened, but anywho...I was led back to a small room with three hard uncomfortable "beds." none too clean, zero privacy--about 18" away from the person next to you. To cut to the chase, after 2 1/2 hours (I've never had it take more than 1 1/2 hours), I was in agony--not only from the discomfort (although the technician complained about HER sore back) but also because from the beginning, the glue was getting into my eyes and burning. The "tape" they used under my eyes was insufficient, and to add to the discomfort it was poking and burning my eyes. I commented that I thought maybe her extremely long nails might be causing a problem with the tape placement, but she laughed it off until she finally had to have someone else help her. I was in discomfort the entire time, and she didn't even finish but I couldn't take it anymore. ON top of all this, the technician assumed I didn't speak spanish, and was speaking about me with the other tech without knowing I understood every word she said. So unprofessional. There are plenty of places around who will do a better job for the same or a better price. Check out spa carrera in MOnterey Park/Alhambra--I'm going back because it's totally worth the drive. read more

I had an appointment with Teresa at 12 PM and she was about 40 minutes late. What really bothered me was that no one notified me that she was not even in the salon. When the technician checked me in and she took my voucher and went to the back, and just never came back to let me know that Teresa wasn't even at the salon. I was there waiting with out any knowledge of when Teresa would take me. I had another appointment to get to so I felt like this job was rushed. I absolutely love my hair and love Teresa. She did an amazing job. My hair was short and black. After coming to her it is now long and blonde just as I wanted it. I've been to a few hairstylists who could never get my hair to be light blonde without a brassy orange disgusting tone, but Teresa was able to achieve the exact blonde I wanted in one visit. I got the keratin extensions and have had them for about a month now and they have held up pretty well. Prices: Teresa's prices are reasonable for the magic she does! It was worth every penny! Services: Teresa and her staff are really friendly and down to earth. They don't try to persuade you to buy unnecessary products. Also, Teresa spent more than 7 hours doing my hair and completed it with a smile on her face. She's very friendly and knowledgeable about hair. I just came out of this place disappointed. I went in with some lashes left over from my last extension appointment (Canny's in Alhambra is definitely the best!). On top of what this place (Josie, the one with the long nails) wanted to charge me, she wanted to charge me an extra $40 to remove the lashes. I feel great I didn't waste my money on this place. They also make you sign a contract that states if you cancel an appointment with them, you have to pay $25. I see now this place just wants to make money any way it can even if it's giving bad customer service. Run away! read more

I bought a groupon and came here two days later to get a full set of lash extensions. It was my first time trying out extensions so I was super excited to have my lashes done by Fabi. Pros: -Everyone is Nice! -They ask your preferences and show you pics on an iPad -Fabi (my lash guru) is a perfectionist Cons: -The hair stylist are very loud & I had to listen to their convos & laughter for almost hours while laying down with my eyes closed -The bed they use isn't very comfortable -Fabi doesn't speak much English -2 1/2 days later and I've definitely lost a few eye lashes already. read more

I called way back in march to make sure I was able to make an appointment before I bought the groupon. the girl told me I didn't need to buy the groupon and she would honor the price since I was calling when the groupon was valid. Located in a strip mall next to Winchell's Donuts. I went in for a haircut and was immediately greeted by the owner. There was one person finishing up a haircut so the owner walked with me next door and bought me a coffee and a donut. The place is new and well designed. This review is for eyelash extensions. I tried out eyelash extensions via Groupon and had my first appointment with Teresa. The lashes came out well the first time so I came in for a fill a couple of more times! I kept my appointments with Teresa but realized the lashes were coming out quick and the tech would come a bit late. Not a big deal, but the last time I booked an appointment with her was before my sisters wedding in Hawaii. Teresa came about 15 mins late and was sick with a cold. I appreciated she still made the appt, but I was a little worried as I didn't want to catch a cold myself before the trip I spent lots of money on and had been preparing for a while since she would be touching my eyes and face. Fortunately, I didn't. But that last experience irritated my eyes and they were red, painful, and swollen for days! (At the wedding too unfortunately) I know Teresa is usually pretty great about wearing gloves and a face mask during application so I don't believe I got an infection, but I'm thinking maybe since she wasn't feeling good she rushed a bit and didn't apply them as well which irritated me. That being said, I decided to try out Alyssa the next time as my sister gets her lashes done by her and she is awesome! Punctual, polite, and friendly! My husband bought me another Groupon for my bday for lashes that I thought they would honor since it was a gift- but Alyssa said they couldn't. (So FYI for anyone thinking it's acceptable.) According to their policy, if you're already a customer- they won't accept a Groupon even as a gift. Of course I was bummed and that was my treat for my bday , but I still managed to pay in full and get my Groupon refunded. ( I also recommend not getting a Groupon if you're new and just asking for the special instead since they don't like redeeming Groupons since it takes a portion.) Thankfully, Alyssa was still great, understanding and did a wonderful job on my lashes! They lasted a while and she applied them very gently! Even when they fell out, they didn't pull my natural lash. I think I found my new lash girl when I'm in need of a little pampering! She does an awesome job and is so sweet. She did an extra great job since it was my bday and the day before hers too!!! Thankyou Alyssa! :) Update: been coming to Alyssa for a while (review initially from December and it is now May) and she always does a good job and is very gentle! I'm pregnant now and she's been accommodating that I need breaks from laying on my back, (don't mean to be difficult I'm sorry!) and knows my lashes are the only thing that make me feel cute at the moment since I can't be bothered with makeup lol! I came to this place expecting it to not be so great and the lash application to be poor, but I was in desperate need of lashes and had a Groupon. WOAH! I was SO wrong! Although the place isn't the fanciest salon I've ever been to and the woman doing the application had a cold and was sniffling and coughing (kind of gross when she's right in my face), the lashes look AMAZING! i brought a groupon for $50 lash extension they were able to get me in the same day. fabi did my lashes and when i tell you she did an extremely great job! i was left speechless, the lashes were nice and full, it took a while but it was worth laying there for an hour in a half. i also got a chance to meet the owner and she was nice as well. i will definitely be back to get a fill, the lashes are also mink/silk they look very real soft and fabulous! unlike those synthetic lashes, i am very pleased! thanks you fabi, job well done!! read more

Looove the new location and the new look! I've been going here for 2 years now and Teresa never fails to give life to my hair. I get compliments on the color, the technique and how the color stays even after months of swimming, sun- it just does not fade badly. My hair does not even dry out! This has been the WORST experince of my life. I've never cried so much over stupid hair. The owner charged me $130 plus tip for an "ombre" that just looked like bad highlights had grown out with two random platinum blonde streaks going down where i part my hair and when i came back to ask for a refund she refused saying "that's not how i run my business" and that "that is exactly what i asked for." If you're looking to get an ombre hair color or anything else for that matter don't come here. I am humiliated with my hair and i'm desperately trying to find another salon to fix it. The new salon is so nice, and in a great location in Granada Hills. The staff is amazing, always friendly and professional. This is a very reasonably priced upscale salon.
