So I literally left the salon with my hair all wet. I've never experienced such service in my life. I think that she needs to be more clear about her prices especially when I told her I only had 365$! Not mislead her customers and change the price while almost done with your hair !!! She claimed that the $50 deposit towards my service that she asked for was the extra $50 on top of my 365$ which makes no sense because if you're telling me that you want $50 deposit to book my appointment and then I get there and you want to act dumb and tell me oh no the 50$ is on top of the 365$ it wasn't for the deposit it was extra ! when clearly I have proof that she told me 365$ and then she wants to say oh mija it's because you have a lot of hair . I really wanted to like her too but after her lies I just can't. Once you tell a client a price you have to stick to your price.

All I wanted was a simple chocolate brown color -- a medium mocha brown. Before the appointment, I even asked if she could work with extensions, since I had just bought a new set that cost me $600-$700. Anyone who knows about extensions understands that once they're dyed, you can't really go back, so I trusted her to get the color right. Instead, she bleached my natural hair twice, lifting it to about a level 7, which made no sense since I only wanted chocolate brown. My real hair ended up with three different shades, looking very patchy and uneven. As for my extensions, she dyed them a very dark brown, completely different from the shade I requested. She did try to "fix" things afterward, but the result was basically taking me back to my original color -- almost black/dark brown. That's not what I asked for, and not why I spent all that money. In the end, I left looking pretty much the same as when I walked in, except hundreds of dollars poorer and with extensions that are now ruined. What upsets me most is that if she didn't know what she was doing -- especially with extensions -- she should have been honest and denied my service. A simple, "Hey, I don't know how to do this, you should go somewhere else," would have saved me a lot of money and stress. Instead, I felt like she just played in my hair. I'm very disappointed and would not recommend this service

I normally don't write reviews but....I felt compelled to do so today! At Unique Salon you get everything you would get at a higher end salon but at a nominal price (trust me, I used to pay well over $100 for my mani-pedi's at a salon in Studio City and here I pay a fraction of that and my nails are better taken care of now than they were then, I would also pay ridiculous money at those AVEDA salons for my hair and it looked hideous and not so much because of the service but because the salon folks had no clue what they were doing!). Anyway, to that, you add exceptional service, beautiful decor and cleanliness and you have a Studio City/Encino type salon in Panorama City. Really, who could ask for more...well, then again they could offer me strawberries and champage...but no, really, this place is FANTASTIC! It took me years to find a salon that would do my nails, my hair and even my daughter's hair. With all honesty I can say that Tere and ALL the wonderful ladies that work with her are the best of the best! My hair and my nails are a true testament of that! P.S. The only downside is parking, but the good far outweighs the one bad thing. read more

I went to Jer for the semi permanent lashes. I saw the Groupon and thought I'd give it a try. Making my appointment, the staff was very friendly. The day of my appointment, walking into Unique Salon the staff immediately welcomed me. To summarize my experience, I was extremely surprised and pleased with the way my eyelashes came out. Jer is such a perfectionist and it shows in her work. She is such a professional, knowledeable, friendly person. Close to three week later, I was still getting compliments on my eyes. I had just wanted to "try" the semi permanent lashes but with how wonderful a job Jer did, I went back to get a refresh/fill ins. Jer's quality of work and professional is well worth her already afforable prices (compared to many other shops). I wouldn't want to trust anyone else with my eyes other than Jer. Highly recommended and highly satisfied. I'd give Jer 6 Stars if I could. read more

I drove myself over and entered through the back. She was just opening up (it was 10:30), and I was directed to the waxing room. THE HORROR. The room was EXTREMELY unkempt and disheveled. The paper on the bed hadn't been torn off yet, the trash was overflowing, and it was cluttered with so many other things, as if they were using it as a storage room. (Pictures taken after my wax was done). I seriously wanted to turn around and walk away, but I really needed to have it done before going to the beach! I laid down on the bed and off she went. Probably the WORST waxing experience I have ever had. She kept going over the same areas not twice, but up to FOUR times! She then handed me a waxing stick and told me to assist her by maneuvering my lady parts away while she waxed in specific areas. I was floored! Even more so when the first stick broke right on my you know what! As she finished, she literally POURED oil all over my areas, and then topped it off by cleaning the excess off with BABY WIPES. C'mon now. Really? On my freshly opened pores? I stood up to get all changed realized that there were strings of wax ALL over my legs, which ended up getting on my shorts (along with the oil), and also on my car seat! I had to put a towel there to make sure it didn't stain. I have never regretted spending $40 as much as I did then. Believe me or not, the pictures speak for themselves.
