This is the best toy store I have ever been in. Extremely well curated, tons of unique interesting toys, things you won't find on Amazon! Tons of small trinkets, even stickers sold individually like in the 80s. Speaking of nostalgia, there were lots of vintage toys from my childhood sprinkled in as well. This is our second year in a row coming here. A weekend getaway for us and since our first visit last year, decided to make it a tradition to pick something for each of our kids. They have a well organized, wide selection of toys, crafts, instruments, costumes - anything! For all ages. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Well, I guess I am a kid at heart sometimes, lol, We don't have any children yet, but i was compelled to check out the unique Toy Shop that were flashing signs in my face, lol. It's a nice shop as if Santa was here in the store. I saw lots of OL Skool toys I grew up playing with as a kid. They also have up to date and hip toys for kids to play with of this newer generation. Quite a bit of board games too. People that work here were friendly. I would love come visit here again. read more

We enjoyed browsing this fun and well-stocked toy shop during our recent visit to Canandaigua. There were toys for all ages and we also liked looking at the fish tank. Some of the toys were a bit pricey, but they carried a lot of nicer/collectible brands so that makes sense. They also had a nice selection of small, inexpensive items for the kids who don't want to walk out empty handed or maybe want to use their own allowance money. There was a bin of marbles, special gemstones/crystals, bouncey balls, etc. that were priced between $1.50 - $3. The window display outside was lovely and the two Adirondack chairs parked under their covered entryway were a nice touch (I sat in one with my dog while my family shopped inside). read more

We keep driving by this little gem, and finally had a chance to investigate. My daughter is 6 and she loved it here. The interior was clean and well organized. They have toys for pretty much every age. Some things you'd see in other places, and some you wouldn't. I think we spent about an hour circling the store so that she could spend the $20 of allowance she had saved up. She ended up buying a plush mermaid, and some pretty pink and purple stones. The cashier was friendly, and talked to us a bit about some of the local events coming up. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it was more on the expensive side. But niche toy stores usually are. I would definitely stop by and explore if you have kids! read more

Everything was very over price I couldn't buy a gift when it's 80 dollars for a marble set!

This is a wonderful toy store right in the heart if downtown Canandaigua. They have a great selection of quality toys and games, both from familiar things like Melissa & Doug and Sesame Street to things I had never seen before. This place is really special and a wonderful departure from Amazon and Toys R Us. This store is exactly what toy shopping should be. The couple that appear to own the pace are wonderfully sweet. The receipts are written up by hand on carbon paper. They also have very cute wrapping paper and free gift wrapping. read more

I'm really appauld at the lack of customer service this evening at the store, and the subpar toys that I purchased. The spaghetti toy is coming apart mere 15 mins after purchase. The one ballerina doll's yarn bangs were sticking straight out, and not laying flat like they should. Now, onto the lack of customer service, one employee offered a 10% discount......great, except the one with seniority said, no....there is nothing wrong with this and if you want it you WILL pay full price period. I should have walked out right then, but instead I decided to over look that and give the store my $85 for my entire purchase. I even asked again, after doing what was suggested by the nice employee of putting a hair tie around this dolls head to tame the bangs down ..... which did not work mind you.... about if there was anything they could do just to save me some money. Again, no...."try wetting them, And i mean she is going to be playing with it obviously so it's not really that big of a deal!" When they said, "see you again" after completing the purchase, I responded.... no, no you won't! And i mean it. My two youngest daughters got squishees last night after their recital at 11pm, and this morning they are all ripping..... also purchased from here. read more

Excellent local toy shop we visited while on vacation in the finger lakes. High quality offerings and brands, and their prices were excellent. I love this toy store. It is a small, local place, but they always have something for everyone. On this last trip, I bought an illuminated lego set for my friend's son and my mom found a small ukulele for my niece (her father is a very good player). The perfect gifts! For Black Friday everything was 20% off too!! This place has been around since I was a kid (about 20 years ago) and it has "outlived" a chain toy store that used to be on the other side of town. Whenever I do come home and shop out in Canandaigua, it always puts a smile on my face to see that it is still there and they still sell the same, great, quality toys. Love the Unique Toy Shop and how convenient it is to have it right in the middle of everything, but it does have a few major flaws. Once my 12 year old daughter went in to the shop with her friends alone, just looking around, doing what kids do. The lady at the checkout counter asked them if they had an adult with them, and they replied back no. The cashier then told the girls the were only allowed 5 minutes in the store and then they have to leave. The girls didn't even get a chance to look around until they had to go. It disappoints me that a children's toy shop discriminates and misinterpreted children as thieves, or individuals who cause damage. I will not be going back again. read more
