I called and scheduled the appointment. During the appointment setup I made the mistake of asking is she was comfortable with doing curly hair. It wasn't meant to offend her but there are stylist that are not comfortable and my kid has very coily/curly hair. She confirmed she was. The day of the appointment I show up on time, Martiza tells us she is double booked and if I can come back in an hour. I understand these things happen, so I leave and call an hour later to see if she is ready for us. I am not told she needs another 30 to 45 minutes. No problem. We show up at the time she says and she is still not ready. She is working on her client and then proceeds to tell me that she needs like 10 more minutes because she hasn't had a chance to eat yet. I continue to stay because we are in need before we go on vacation - I should have followed my instincts and just left. My daughter goes first, here is when I know she doesn't know how to work with curly hair. Martiza took one look at my daughter's hair and went on a rant about how she is not going to be there hours detangling her hair. She proceed to give me a wide tooth comb and ask that I detangle her hair dry! Again I am in need so I stay against my instincts, I tell Martiza that my daughter (13 year old) is tender headed and does not like hair cuts because it hurts her. During the haircut she notices my daughter is upset, instead of comforting her and or reassuring her, Maritza gets an attitude and is upset my daughters shut down, which by the way my daughter was silent and had RBF. I understand it was uncomfortable, but Martiza is supposed to be the adult and professional. Martiza had a I don't care attitude, you don't have to be satisfied with my work because I have clients knocking down my door and can get more. I understand that stylist will always have fans, but that mentality is immature and unprofessional. Even if we didn't like the way you cut our hair, a way more positive experience with customer service and bed side manner could have led to referrals of other people needing a stylist in the area. So disappointing because I want to support local and Latina businesses, but this one is one I will have to pass on.
