Walked in with two fire extinguishers that I thought they would recycle, they were that old. Instead Jason told me they were old; but they would put out any fire, just as a new one would. I asked to see current models that were similar. I decided to buy two of newer model; as they did have an advantage. My experience was that these people are professional and really care about the customer. read more

I brought an empty fire extinguisher into United to get refilled and they, kindly, told me not to waste my money on this model, which wasn't the best. I needed a replacement wall bracket for a midsize Kidde fire extinguisher that hangs on my living room wall. The bracket that came with the extinguisher was plastic and stretches over time. My 1.5 year old grand daughter was playing in the living room & just touched it & it came crashing down. It scared me so much that I immediately got on Amazon looking for a more secure solution, but I couldn't find any bracket that would fit anything but the slim kitchen extinguishers... the staff at United were extremely friendly, knowledgeable & hooked me up with 3 heavy duty brackets! They even gave me the business discount because they were expensive & I needed 3--they said they just wanted to help me keep my grand kids safe :) Thanks guys... read more

my first and last experience with this company was not a good one. the staff are very friendly and well meaning but they do not possess much knowledge on the products they sell. due in part to this fact, and some fault of my own, I was sold the wrong product which was therefore used improperly. upon bringing the item back I was told I would have to talk to the owner Ken Wallace. after two voicemails, i received that call back about a week later. unfortunately he had no intention of helping me in any way and was not very polite about it. I would have taken any sort of credit or exchange. they do have a nice storefront and appear to carry a wide variety of equipment, it's a shame the owner has such poor customer service skills. read more

Our company is an account holder at United Fire Health and Safety. I am a production manager and buyer for a small manufacturing company in Portland, Or. Today I inquired about a respirator fit test for a small installation crew as required by our customer. As a small company we rarely purchase safety supplies in large quantities. Ken, at United, coordinates the fit test and was exceedingly rude in tone and demeanor. He stated that fit tests are reserved for account holders that buy in large quantities on a regular basis. He then pressed me to discuss other suppliers I where have purchased safety supplies noting that our purchases have dropped off. I explained that we are small and that I purchase as needed. We had a large contract a few years ago that required an increase in orders. Of late, such purchases are few and far between. He continued to say that I should go to another of my suppliers and not purchase through him. This experience is quite possibly the worst I have had with a supplier in my 13 years with this company. I recommend purchasing through any other supplier. read more
