I love the programs that UMAC in Carmel run. In their Dragons program, I have 2 of my children and also 2 of my nephews. Dragons works as a bridging program to the older more regimented programs. Dragons is for kids 4-6 years old and helps kids build not only their Taekwando beginner skills but also their social emotional interaction and confidence within themselves. The class while being structured is also very friendly and animated, with lots of 1:1 training with senior instructors, instructors and black belt club students helping develop your child's skills. In the older programs a master teaches the class but he/she has the help again of instructors and the black belt club. The older program is more structured and regimented but it is still fun. The kids often smile and laugh during class while working on their skills. Also, all classes are developmentally delayed people friendly. Children and adults earn their belts and stripes for new belts at their own pace, and never feel left behind as they are only in competition with themselves. I have 2 children in the program with developmental delays, and they have done great since joining and I've seen growth in them. I could go on about the programs or the staff but I'll leave my rating off with this... I tried my son Braysen at another Martial Arts program before this and he fell flat on his face, he was lost, he was discouraged, and didnt learn much of anything, but UMAC has made him confident and he always has someone assisting him when he looks lost. My son has been a student here for the last 6 years, and the people here are more than his instructors and masters: they are his family. Tremendous role models and kind people, this place has guided his principles and nurtured his awareness of the world, making him a kinder person who tries to improve his world at every step, a fundamental philosophy here. And my wife and I feel so much at home here. We have always been welcomed and cared for, with the staff and owners taking an intrinsic interest in our lives. We have loved growing with them and look forward to many more years. UMAC Carmel is awesome. It is very family oriented. My two children just recently earned their 1st degree black belts, so we have been attending for quite some time. We couldn't be more pleased with the atmosphere and staff. Everyone there is respectful, friendly and make it a point to greet everyone. It is a fun, positive place to be and my kids love it. They have made many friends with kids of all ages as well as the adult staff. UMAC Carmel really has it all figured out. My daughter has been attending UMAC in Carmel for almost two years now. She loves the classes and teachers and has made some very close friendships. I was introduced to UMAC at my sons schoolmates birthday party. We signed up for an evaluation with Master C. For the following Saturday. He was very skilled and patient. We signed up for personal lessons for my 5 year old. They even call the day before to confirm. The Dojo is clean and well put together. Staff friendly and helpful. My son loves it and we hope he will learn a lot. They are very supportive also in their curriculum of helping children to read more and helping with behaviors to see them grow... UMAC Carmel has been a great experience for our 6 year old son. He has a tendency to be shy when he starts out, but was welcomed and felt comfortable with all of the instructors right away. I have had my daughter in their after school program for over a year now, and it is exceptional! I have seen major improvements in not just her strength and skills, but also in her confidence and self esteem. The program is very well run and a life saver for a busy working parent. I am in the kickboxing program... wonderful to help get fit, instructors know their stuff and always give that extra gentle push to get you to finish. There is always a different routine so you never get bored. the times are not as convenient as I would like, but the program is excellent. read more
