After, a complete disaster at Grandstrand Medical Center, Sept 4-14 2025, this wonderful man…read morestepped in to provide the clarity WE WERE NOT recieving, from Dr Antonio Pepe, chief of trauma or Dr James Haywood Smith. He was so compassionate and very clear on what I needed to know, for the past 9 days. He was honest, direct and made understanding what was happening to my beautiful daughter, Jennifer Ann Murphy, clear. He validated my concerns and offered me the clarity I needed to truly make an "informed" decision. Thank you Dr Giddens. Your kindness and professionalism has NOT gone unnoticed! Thank you, just doesn't seem like enough!

The operations went great and the post operative care was great as well at Grand Strand Medical Center. Cannot say enough good about the operation staff, Dr. Giddens or the hospital care staff. I would recommend all of them to anybody that is not a Type 1 diabetic. Unfortunately being a Type 1 GSMC rules did not allow for patient input for insulin and their ideas of diabetic care resulted in many many hours of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia . Discussion with the controlling Endocrinologist yielded no cooperation so there was no recourse except to checkout of GCMC against medical advice, even though therapy had not been completed. This was necessary in order to regain control of my blood glucose.

My experience with Surgical Associates of Myrtle Beach…read more I was diagnosed by Dr. Nicholson with a large umbilical hernia that required open hernia surgery. I went in for Same Day Surgery 7/06/16 and after a 6 inch incision was sent home in a binder with oxycodone for pain management. I tried to sleep but my skin felt like it was on fire and I was breaking out into hived like blisters and my pain was horrible so at 3 hours in we called Dr. Nicholson and explained we thought I was allergic to the oxycodone and could we get something else. He then suggested Tylenol with Codeine and I knew in the past that Tylenol with codeine has made me sick to my stomach so I asked for something different and he said no and that because the pain was terrible to take 2 oxycodone and some Benadryl. So that is what we did and I did not sleep for 3 days and because I was taking a double dose we ran out and called Saturday night but was informed that the office was not open until Monday and that they could not help me. I also reached out to my doctor but she would not see me because I had not been released back to her yet. So with very little sleep for a week, we went for follow up the next Wednesday where I was diagnosed with an infection and put on antibiotics. I was doing a bit better, not great but better when I went to see Dr. Nicholson 2 weeks later but the hives kept coming and coming. A week later I woke up with my eye swollen shut covered in hives everywhere and crusting over my incision and that itchy throat that means I am heading for trouble. I went to the Urgent care because of course my surgeon's office was closed and they shot me me up with prednisone and gave me allergy pills, prednisone pills and cream. They were so kind to me that I cried since I had not been treated with kindness through any of this. The hives started to go away and I woke up this morning to my incision coming open in 2 dime like spots so I called the surgeon and they had me come in. I walked in crying because well I was scared and hurting and just so tired. Dr. Nicholson was not there so I was seen by Lane I. Moore, MD, who threw the door open to the exam room looked at my incision and said this is your fault because you smoke and I was trying to explain to him my allergic reaction to oxycodone and the hell that had ensued since that and he said you did not have an allergic reaction, he said put a gauze pad on it and tape, quit smoking and wounds have been healing for thousands of years on their own. There has been one saving grace through this practice and that is the nurse, not sure of her name she has red hair, slightly older, she has been so kind and loving and the only reason I have gone back.

I had my previous medical records forwarded to him, about 1 inch thick. The first time I saw Dr. Sauer, he was rude to me, almost cursing and I didn't understand why. I spoke to my medical doctor, who said he doesn't want drug addicts, so he was probably weeding me out. I'm not a drug addict, but I am from NY and I am an RN. I went back to the second visit and he was more rude than the first time. I was in tears and I was pushed into the bathroom to take a urine sample. I was shocked but complied, then told him I will be seeking another doctor. He said, that's a good idea. I am not a drug addict and never took drugs. I found another doctor who took a chance at first with me, but found out by my blood and urine tests for over a dozen years that I am CLEAN. I would never recommend him. Perhaps he's cleaned up his act, as he has so many stellar reviews. I'll never forget what he did to me. You can see my previous review of him.

He is caring, listens, and explains things thoroughly. I am blessed to have Ortho SC, physical therapy, and Dr. Merritt for my orthopedic care. I saw a review describing this place as an "assembly line," and after being here twice, I…read morecompletely agree. This was my second time seeing Dr. Blair, and the experience was just as bad as the first. Patients are told to arrive early, even established patients who already completed everything online, only to sit in the waiting room 45 minutes past their appointment time before even being called back. Then another 20+ minute wait just to see the doctor for about 30 seconds, only to be told he would be back. After that, another 25-minute wait before he finally returned for an injection (he's gotta sneak in those extra 2 or 3 appointments). Dr. Blair has zero bedside manner, came across arrogant, dismissive, and immediately pushed surgery on a 46-year-old patient while claiming there were "no other options." I've never met a doctor so dismissive. What makes that even more concerning is that I sought a second opinion and was, in fact, given another treatment option. At no point did I feel like my pain or concerns were taken seriously. Isn't a doctor's job supposed to include treating pain and helping patients explore options instead of brushing them aside? The entire interaction felt rushed, cold, and transactional. OrthoSC feels like a run-of-the-mill greed factory where volume and money matter more than patient care. The lack of communication, respect for patients' time, and overall professionalism was incredibly disappointing. I gave them two chances, and they failed both times. I would never allow anyone from this practice to operate on me. If you are dealing with shoulder issues, I highly recommend Dr. William Greer. He was compassionate, patient, answered every question without acting annoyed, and actually spent time with me -- about 15 minutes, which felt like a completely different experience compared to OrthoSC.
