This is a tiny post office. With only two employees at the counter, the line can be long, and…read morethere's little space for social distancing. The people who are getting passports are cared for at the counter, which means one cashier is occupied for 30 minutes. Access to this post office is awkward. If you are driving north, make sure you turn before the light, as there is no way to turn in at the light. Parking spaces are also awkward. Finally, the driveway out to State Street has a sharp dip, making for a very jarring experience. If I can, I will avoid this place.

But because I have a suffix on my legal name and my previous state's title didn't show that, they refused to do the transfer. I showed my driver's license, birth certificate, SSN card, passport, car registration, the car's bill of sale, previous documentation from the BMV, and my auto insurance policy but that wasn't good enough to prove who I am. Meanwhile, if I found a random person off the street with the same name as me without the suffix, they would transfer the car's title to them without question. Utterly idiotic. I see what this office has lower ratings than some of the others. Edit: Updating a few days later. They told me that if I changed the name on my auto insurance policy to match another document, it would be fine. So I fought with the insurance company to change the details on my policy, and they finally relented. When I went back to the title office, they told me that wasn't good enough! So their own workers don't know their ridiculous policy about suffixes and don't know how to advise people on this! I wish I could give zero stars to this horrific office.

Call ahead for fee prices; confirm with website; confirm fees on phone again; expect a different answer in person. Filing fees (to have a machine electronically scan them and for them to be filed via computer) are outrageous. We were told (and confirmed with the website) that each of our documents would be $40 to file, and we were prepared. Also, you must supply a self-addressed, stamped envelope for documents to be returned. However, when we arrived, the girl seemed confused with my Stamps.com mailing label on my envelope. She kept staring at it, not moving, so I asked, "Wasn't I supposed to provide a self-addressed, stamped envelope?" That seemed to shake her out of her confusion. (I later overheard another resident pay a crazy fee for not supplying his own, and was glad mine only cost around $2.50 total for both of my documents.) Then the girl said our documents would cost $28 for the first page and $8 for each page thereafter! We would be paying over $168 for EACH document. Thankfully, I arrived educated. I corrected her, showed her my notes, and explained the phone call and confirmation with the website. She left for a moment and then returned to say that it was $40 per document. I wonder how many people are over-paying for filing fees. (Well, actually everyone who files at this courthouse!) She was also a little put out that I wanted a receipt, but I recommend getting one. On a good note, the filing was fairly quick. On an amusing note, I realized when I left the building that my purse had somehow passed through security with a large pocketknife.
