I sent in a request to find out why I did NOT receive a package, even though the system showed it delivered. The inquiry was sent early this morning. I received a call back from Sonya Deleon THIS SAME DAY who related the postmaster had assigned this to her to investigate. She determined that the "package" was actually printed material (magazine) in plastic. Oops, I DID receive that. I wish to commend Sonja for resolving this so quickly. I am astonished. Marco discriminated against me and refused to service me for having a service dog. I had to wait almost an hour just to see the post master. While i was waiting I was yelled at, disrespected, asked to leave. Marco never attempted to help me. He wasn't in a post office uniform and did not even have a name tag. Once the post master the treatment did not get any better. I told the post master about the discrimination against me and my service dog. (by the way i had to ask her, her name three times because she refused to tell me) (sonja a women in plaining clothes with no name tag and an attitude) Her response was "so whats your business her? Do you need a parcel or mail?" Yes this was after i told her that i was discriminated against and not served by an employee. No one had name tags or uniforms on either...im guessing thats because the post master doesnt care about postal regulations. Things to expect when you go here: No name tags, no uniforms, no poster 7...but there will be discrimination, disrespect, unprofessionalism and an uncaring attitude. There is a lot of do what i say not as i do behavior here because no one can stop them for acting this way. They have all the mail and if they dont like you then you dont get service whether you disabled, have a service dog, and or a veteran they dont care who you are...if you dont do what they tell you they wont help you...if you dont like it then they will yell at you until you do.. I live in a gated apartment complex that does not accept packages in the office. Therefore, they need to either go in the designated mailboxes for packages or on doorsteps. Even then, the office has held a package for me before when it was delivered to the wrong apartment, so I'm sure they would have agreed to hold this one. My package was unsuccessfully attempted to be delivered, but they offered me redelivery through a slip in my mailbox with options on where to put the package. The front door was the FIRST option on the slip they gave me. I selected it. My apartment is ten steps from the mailbox. The carrier then wrote back and said they don't leave packages on doorsteps. Where do you leave them then??? Obviously not in the mailboxes for packages. (Mind you, it's just a mug, so it's not a very big box.) Now I have to go pick it up, and I really don't have time right now to do that for every package. That is the purpose of a delivery service. I will give the carrier the benefit of the doubt and say it's my apartment's fault, and that maybe the package boxes are not allowed to be used. The San Marcos Post Office has a new Post Master about every year or two. I don't know if that's the problem because I doubt they ever show up for work. I had a series of incoming checks lost over months because the post office couldn't manage to deliver them. I went to the operations center on Old Stagecoach, to request an investigation. A week later I returned to be told there has been no investigation. I asked for the manager. The manager assured me he's been looking into it. I asked why he would look me in the face and lie to me, that I had already been told nobody had touched my request. He got real snippy. The retail office isn't any better. They don't take Change of Address forms. The woman at the counter got pushy when I expressed my displeasure for being forced to go home and do on the computer what I should be able to do in person. Btw... online address change requires a credit card AND your email address and phone number for authentication. The workers don't even seem to care the PO is anxious to replace them with robots and app interfaces. I don't know who runs the San Marcos Post Office, if anybody. It appears to be a group of lackluster bureaucrats enjoying a paycheck, but with no real leadership or intention in its efforts. read more

I didn't expect garbage pick-up or mail Friday, Oct 30th in light of the flooding. I got BOTH. I couldn't make it to my workplace but they made it to theirs. I saw postal workers out and about as I tried to return home and was behind a postal van on the closed Wonder World bridge before we were forced to u-turn back to 35. I also saw the drive of the new postal office got pretty hosed. Through rain and snow indeed! Thank you! That said, I really do miss the old space. More bypassers, felt safer after hours. If I could, I would give this post office zero stars. My boyfriend paid almost 300$ to get an expedited passport in the mail within 3 weeks. Not only was a woman incredibly rude to him before he ordered the passport, the workers there are currently giving him the run around and made every excuse in the book despite the package saying it's been delivered. This is insane and I can't believe that there is this level of incompetency at a Post Office especially regarding such sensitive personal documents. Obviously they need to weed out some terrible workers and reevaluate what type of business they want to be viewed as. Horrible service and horrible management. read more

I have no idea what's happening at this post office right now but it can't be used to send packages or do anything a normal post office would be expected to do. "Signs" (pieces of paper taped on wall) are very confusing and employees are agitated when customers are confused that the post office is non-functional. I've never been more confused and bewildered than I am right now. I would like to start off and say this is one of the friendliest bunch of works I've ever come in contact with at any company. They are so sweet! There are many many issues with this office though. The first one being the drop off box has been broken for a year and a half now. What does it take to fix this? Even when I have pre printed labels, I still have to stand in line and wait because there is no counter space to just drop It off at and there is rarely someone there just taking drop off and pick ups. My biggest issue with this office which I have not experienced with any other usps (I have been to many others in the atx area, state of Texas and other states). Without fail, my packages are delivered to my customers broken EVERYTIME. I'm not sure why this location has such an issue with this, are they being hit with baseball bats? Marking fragile on an item does nothing more than cause more damage to the items. I drive to the Buda one because I can trust they will deliver my packages in one piece. If you have anything remotely breakable, drive to any other location. It sure is hard to run a business when more than half of the packages are broken out of each shipment. read more

This location is particularly busy with our ever expanding town but with that being said the staff really compensates by going above and beyond to ensure you're satisfied. I am a frequent customer (at least 4x/month) and all of the staff have provided exemplary service. At previous locations, I had to pay so much extra to get my mail packaged, however, Sandra showed me how to do it myself saving me about $8 on tape and tags which is pretty significant for a broke college kid. I had no idea how to mail a package or even get stamps and now it's just in and out- do your part and come prepared so you won't have to wait!! read more

This post office offers many options for shipping needs. Customer service area is usually very busy and lines can get very long, especially during the weekends. Parking lot is small and traffic is usually bad coming in and out. I would highly recommend using their self-serve kiosk and avoid the long lines. This post office offers a window for quick package drop off and pickup but service bell does not work, or staff chooses not to help people ringing the bell. Double checked with posted service hours but was still not helped when ringing the bell. I would recommend you use the self-serve kiosk, or buy postage online and attach to your packages and drop off in mailboxes outside of post office. read more

Terrible place. Snobby government leeches consigned to a supposedly "new" building. It's a death trap, with entrance and exit doors not working for over 12 months, and counting. And if you want to use the self-serve postage machine, it rarely works. Lastly, the package slot has been broken for as long as the doors have been nonfunctional. So, even if you're lucky enough to get the self-serve postage machine to work, you can't deposit it in the wall anyway. You're consigned to interact with unenjoyable people. I do NOT like this place. With my new office being under construction and our mail being unable to be delivered to us we've had to travel here several times. The first visit wasn't too bad. The line was super long but we were able to use the service door and retrieve our mail with little fuss. That's where the good ends. Every return visit since has been a hassle. Don't even think to try and call this location with any questions as you will experience one of the two following scenarios: nothing but busy signals or they will never answer. The phone will just ring and ring and ring. Also, aside from that first time, we've yet to have another good experience with the service door. Once we were told "you know, I'm really busy, you need to go in there" and she pointed to the main service room where you purchase items and mail packages. All we needed was to pick our mail up. She closed the door in a hurry. The next time I came in I rang the door bell at the service window and waited....nothing. I tried again.....nothing. Apparently that bell must be connected to the phone because we got the same non-response. After waiting in line in the main service room I was told "we don't have any mail for you." Really? You don't have mail for us all of a sudden but we'd been getting mail daily for the past three weeks? Doesn't add up. Long story short-I can not WAIT for my new office to be completed so I no longer have to deal with the incompetency of this location. Every trip here I know I will be met with new frustration. Super busy, but also friendly staff. I went on Memorial Day. A couple of veterans were in front of me and was able to see them chatting with a couple of veterans behind the desk. Greeting one another and it made me feel very happy to see that USPS gives these wonderful workers, who served our country, continue providing a service with a dignifying salary and benefits. When my turn came, their smiles and helpfulness were just the same. I wish I could say the same of other post offices located at more well-off neighborhoods in Austin. read more

Do NOT go here for passport services. Clerk informed me I was unable to use my previous passport as proof of citizenship, even though this was listed as an acceptable way. She informed me I would need to pay a $150 "File Search" fee to verify my citizenship, even with my old passport in hand. Went to city hall in San Marcos and was assisted and processed in 10 minutes, using my passport as my proof of citizenship. City hall clerk informed me that USPS turns down individuals with correct documents all the time due to incompetence and lack of knowledge. read more

The staff is very friendly; the delivery people are wonderful. That being said, it's 6:30 pm and I'm still waiting for the mail. This happens pretty regularly here, mail way after dark and as late as 8 pm, and then because the delivery ppl cannot see what they are doing, I sometimes get the neighbor's mail. I was told months ago that our mail would start coming during business hours. Still not happening on a regular basis. What the heck is the problem?? Hire someone already. Apparently, the delivery ppl have been asking for months as well to make our route a regular route. Is anyone paying attention? I have even called the area supervisor about this. This post office has amazing customer service, Steve specifically is awesome. I come in twice a month with 20+ packages and he's always nothing but patient and nice! The staff here makes the hassle of coming to ship stuff much less stressful!! Every encounter with them is terrible. Their "head postman" is rude. This is why amazon, ups, and fedex will put them out of business. If you don't like your job quit but don't make people miserable. I personally go to Kyle now and live in San Marcos. When receiving packages I opt for ups or fedex. The last time I didn't receive my package after it said delivered they told me it was my problem and to contact the seller. I wish their service was better.
