United States Post Office is like a bad marriage. I know I'm in love but they keep letting me down lately. It took me about a hour this past week to reactivate my online account. I ordered more stamps. I have been having trouble with delivery. They shoved an oversized package into my mailbox instead of giving it to the package room. It was not easy to pull out Now today I have an Amazon delivery missing in action. It went to the wrong address I guess. It's a birthday gift for my daughter a tiny item. I paid $20 with tax and shipping. It wasn't sold using Prime or Amazon delivery. So today USPS gets three stars. I need a divorce! read more

Not sure why this place has such a low rating. When i went in the place was hopping, but one of the workers still helped me figure out how to ship a weird shaped package and taught me how to use the new self-ship machine. It was a fast and pleasant experience- i didnt see any lines or grumpy folks, just helpful employees and mail getting sent out. read more

Extremely rude staff with terrible customer service. I arrived 8 minutes before they closed at 1, and the woman was already locking the doors. She gave me attitude about me preferring to wait inside the door to get my QD code printed because she preferred me to wait in the line of 5 people outside the door so that I would be locked out and unable to get her assistance by the time it was my turn. I knew exactly what she was trying to do...I understand they're probably super understaffed and don't want to be working a weekend, but their customer service was terrible, as were their attitudes. read more

I mean. It's the post office. I really don't expect much in customer service. Went on a Friday. Had to wait 15 minutes just to get a money order because it was one guy working. I saw other people walking around not really doing anything. The guy was very short and kurt with people, because he was overwhelmed with the line. I get some of the customers where over it, and we're rude about it, but he said no one is here to help, and you can wait or leave if you want. By then I was next in line and over it. I had a very bad experience to begin with. The youngest team member that day (12-3-2022) was more concerned about texting on her phone than helping customers. It culminated in her complaining that I had given her the wrong customs form when all she had to do was to compare the addresses on the two customs forms I'd given her with the addresses on the two parcels before she attached any stickers to a parcel and customs form.. She kept insisting on her mistake being my fault. Along came Katrina. She calmly asked me to step over to her counter. Then she helped me with the right envelope and choosing the best shipping options. It was such a pleasant change after what I had experienced before. Thank you, Katarina! You are amazing. The US Post Office no longer has a natural monopoly on package delivery (thanks to Fedex, UPS, Amazon, and others). Sure, they still grasp on to letter mail, but for how much longer? I'm griping because I totally have that love/nostalgia for snail mail and buying all sorts of pretty and interesting stamps versus just sending a simple email (especially during holidays), but it's kind of messed up when we almost expect USPS employees to be rude. Obviously this location was no exception. At the end of the day the job got done: I got my envelopes, I got some holiday stamps, I sent my letter. But not without being yelled at by one of the employees. I guess the point of my vent is just to give a statement [with probability of being actually read = 0] to USPS to specialize in customer service. Over the course of the last month, I have been mailing multiple envelopes at a cost of $1.20 each. On several of these envelopes I placed $1.50 worth of stamps because I simply didn't have a twenty cent stamp. Someone at this particular post office decided to return one of my pieces of outgoing mail seeking an additional $2 due to uneven thickness when all of the envelopes weighed the same and held the exact same contents. Therefore, something doesn't add up it seems. What does add up are a bunch of people that offer bad customer service and do as they see fit. The postal worker took a black marker and marked through the stamps on my envelope with the request of the additional $2. Seeking more money than the actual cost to mail the envelope seems kind of wrong. Or to put it plainly... it's fraud endorsed by the US postal service. You won't be getting the additional money to place in your pocket. Immoral actions. You should be ashamed. read more

The management at this location lacks skills. Mr. P (to be respectful, I use just his last name's initial, rather than expose his full name) was extremely disrespectful to customers. While I stood in line, he raised his voice at one customer, he threatened to not service another customer (because he had parked his bike to close to the office door), did not greet any of the customers that he serviced (no hello, no thank you, no smiles), and he probably would have not helped with the long queue, had another customer not asked him if he could help (there was a long line while he stood in the lobby, looking out the window). This location is always busy, and requires someone with customer service skills to manage it well. read more

LESS than 1 Star. Happy to write this review as EVERY experience is awful, today was no exception. The postal worker (female) wore her mask below her nose. In a time when double masking, etc. is recommended. So, when I politely asked her to wear her mask properly, she pulled it completely down below her chin instead. She was rude and mocking in her behavior which is par for the course here. Also, I can't help but feel discriminated against. There was a woman of color whom the employees tripped over to help, getting her a box from the back, even an official USPS box - which I don't believe they charged her for. No matter how polite and pleasant I am, I receive the opposite treatment. Listen, wearing a mask is no fun for anyone, I too work with the public and wear a mask all day - to protect myself and others, as well as a sign of respect. This woman was disrespectful to say the least. I will be contacting her superiors regarding this matter. I think we need some diversity with the workers of this branch and some retraining with emphasis on common manners, as well as safety in the time of COVID. read more

Ten minutes before closing, a few days before taxes are due, I arrived at this post office, not knowing what to expect. I was quite pleasantly surprised as the line moved quickly and the man behind the counter could not have been nicer. He seemed to be in a great mood despite having had a long and hectic day. He cracked jokes and made my whole experience as positive as I could have hoped for. In the past I have been berated by postal employees for not remembering how to affix the tracking sticker but this dude just teased me with a smile and I laughed. Those dang stickers trip me every time! Anyway, I will definitely patronize this PO again. read more

This location suffers from some of the same symptoms as the rest of the DC postal system in general. Some workers try to do a good job, but the overall vibe is one of half-hearted service to a public that won't be completely satisfied anyway--so why try? In other words, you won't get the same positive experience you may expect if you frequent a good suburban or rural location. Opening hours are iffy; there is typically only one person working the window which can lead to long wait times. On the bright side, I've never had a problem with the self-service machine and once I even had a window clerk provide expedited service for an important package. (He called the truck it was on and had it show up earlier than it otherwise would have.) Could be better, but it could be worse! read more

I want to thank the good folks who work here! I came here to drop off a package (a textbook rental) right in the middle of Christmas rush, and the line was so ridiculous that I ended up just leaving it in the drop-off bin. However, what I neglected to realize was that the shipping label the textbook renter provided me with was for UPS - not USPS. Even though they didn't have to, USPS ended up sending my textbook to the renter. read more

Post office is supposed to be self service after 8am. I am here at 8:45 and the door is still locked.

This branch is such a welcome relief from other DC branches. A quarter the size but leaves that awful branch at 14th & L miles behind in terms of helpfulness, efficiency and customer service. Highest compliments to the staff there. They went above and beyond helping me prep several packages. The people at this branch make the trip up there well worth it. Maybe it was Frankie who helped me. He should be asked to lead (and paid to endure) an all-day seminar for the other branch on "Customers are People, Too." read more

Yeah, sometimes these guys are a little slow, but they are very kind and helpful which is very different than your average condescending Post Office staff. If you've got time and value a positive social interaction, this is a good Post Office for you. read more
