I love this weird and utterly useless post office. It sits in a random, inconvenient location. It does not have internet service so you cannot use a kiosk to print labels yourself (which is available at other locations). It has hand-written signs taped on the outside that provide unhelpful information. I love how random and odd this little place is. I hope it sticks around because it reminds me of a time in DC that's gone. Now it's fancy condos everywhere, and this place just feels home grown and legit. I love the female postal worker that works here. I don't know her name but I want to write a letter to USPS about how amazing she is! She always suggests the best shipping method, best packaging, etc. I feel like she looks out for you as a customer. Also it's nice that there is a parking lot so parking is free (like whaaa) in DC. read more

Small and slow service, not the best PO but unfortunately the one located most close to me. I've had multiple poor experiences here, one week recently I had 5 perishable packages that were accepted on Monday morning but were left in the back and didn't move anywhere until 4 days later (the day when they should've been delivered). This morning (Monday 8/9/21), in an empty PO, I brought in two boxes with prepaid labels. The associate working told me that I couldn't have my personal scooter in the store. There was no one else in there, no signs stating scooters were not allowed, I had my mask on and followed any posted rules but was told my scooter was not allowed because "he said so and he didn't have to provide any rule or posting saying I'm not allowed to have a scooter in the store". At this point I folded the scooter and was holding it, similar to any bag that one might carry, not taking up much space at all. Not sure what this guys attitude was, but there is no reason to enforce made up rules when my scooter wasn't affecting anyone - if there's a rule, let me know and I'll abide. But thought this was completely unnecessary and rude. He proceeded to take his time scanning the packages and provide me with my receipt, and went through a backlog of other receipts before even scanning the packages of the customer (me) standing in front of him. I'd avoid this location (and even shipping with usps due to their consistent delivery issues) if possible. read more

Ridiculous! Came in to send a package internationally and was told the "scale is broken" we can't send any packages from this location. What is the purpose of the USPS if we cannot send mail, the district has to better at ensuring agencies have the resources needed to service residents. Excuses are unacceptable read more

What is going on with mail these days? We've noticed for several months now that the mail service has gotten worst & we did not think that were possible! It takes weeks sometimes over A MONTH for a piece of standard mail to get to it's destination! A card that should have gotten to it's destination took 2 wks!, and now the most recent is another standard piece of mailed within the same EXACT zip code area of our home is taking over A MONTH to get it it's destination! I have been looking for document from a government agency that was sent to them a month ago. Talked to the woman today who checked & checked & CHECKED everywhere within their office only to confirm that they have not gotten it & this was mailed to them about this same time last month! This is so frustrating & has caused us a great deal of stress!!!! What the hell?!!!! So why is it that the US Post office continue to increase rates while the services are getting worst? Where is our money for the increases are going! There HAS to be something done about this! So now after a month since the agency hasn't received my document & payment it'll cost monetarily! I DO NOT need this extra expense!!! This is just wrong on so many levels! This isn't the first time, nor the 2nd time! This crap just keep happening, & doesnt appear to get reported! I'm reporting this to the Corporate Headquarters! We should be refunded our money back for the increases to the post office! What are we getting for the increase in postage, boxes, etc! After many frustrating experiences with the USPS in Washington, DC I always steel myself for post office interactions, ready to argue or inquire at every turn or turn up the niceness to hopefully get the postal worker to accept my packages with little guff. I was particularly prepared for a fight when I started shipping most of my worldly belongings home. Fortunately the lone postal worker who staffs this location is a nice, if no-nonsense, woman who just wants to get her job done and get you and your package out the door. When I showed up with three heavy-ish boxes of books she allowed my boyfriend to carry the boxes in the back for her and didn't ask questions about their media mail status. She did turn me away when I tried to ship 12 boxes from her post office but I don't blame her - she ended up not having enough carts or space for them and she gave us directions for the nearest post office who could take all 12 boxes. So the bulletproof glass is a little off-putting but I'd happily continue to do my shipping at this post office. read more

On the door of the LeDroit Park Post Office: "Hours of Operation: Monday-Friday, 8-5." Handwritten sign directly above it: "Open everday at 9 am." Did I mention they also close for a lunch hour? RUDE!!! RUDE!!! RUDE!!! NO professionalism! First I would like to apology about my English since I am still learning, thanks. I asked a question about a bigger box that I saw on a US post office on a differed location close to this one and I wanted to know why they didn't have that box because that was the one that was convenient for me and I asked if they used to have that sixe of box before, three times I ask the same question and the manager didn't want to answer my question, she just repeat like a crazy person " What you see is what we have" that was not an answer to my question. Her name is Essie, What a rude, unethical behavior. After I told her, she was not being respectful by just repeating the same fraise over and over she told me to leave the post office or she will call me the police! Since the very beginning when the post office opened that morning of 02-25-2013, I was there since 8:55 am; it was supposed to open at 9:00 am and opened at 9:10 LATE! The expression of her face was not the best, the tone of her voice was not soft or nice, if u know what I mean, talking loud showing the big lack of manners; she didn't even reply when I said: "Good morning, how are you?" , she just wait for me to say what was my question, question that she wasn't able to answer, after I wait on the line because people where outside waiting for the office to open the doors and be able to get in. I felt like if I were an inmate on a prison and a female Jail Guard was barking at me. What a repulsive personality and deplorable customer service they offer, I don't know how people like her named: ESSIE (THE MANAGER) can work on a US Post Office, probably because is a government job and they don't care about how to treat people, they don't have supervision or who knows why they are allowed to be disrespectful. I spent more money there than in a fancy restaurant since I shipped 5 large boxes around $28 each one plus the cost of the box and tape, no and look at it: I ask for the price for the box and the other employee told me, LOOK at box!!! is there. Can't she respond with cost? is the only thing she do every day and she cant just say the price, that she knows for sure since I put the box right in front of her and she was looking at the box. Those tow ladies are a real mess, they are vulgar and have no manners. My English can be bad because I was not born in this country but I speak Spanish very well and I have manners. The service is worse than if I were asking for a favor to an estranger. The sign by the door says it's the LeDroit Finance Station post office, whatever that means. I find I can never be here when it's open so you'd have to plan your time for this right. I use it just to be sure I get something into the mailboxes outside for pickup, so as to avoid using the mail boxes in the neighborhood streets which I simply don't trust (ever see kids empty their soda into one?) Best thing about this is the parking lot for it, so you can pull, park, post and off you go with no hassle. Note: I went here another time when it was open and the guy working there was quite friendly and helpful so not sure if there's been a change of staff or not, after reading some of the other reviews. read more

Always gotten great service from this post office. Don't used the post offices in my area because of bad customer service. (Not enough clerks.) One clerk handling everything while others are laughing and playing in the background. This post office is tiny. And carriers don't come out of this office. They might drop mail off or pick mail up but they definitely don't work out of this office. The lady that has been there when I went was always efficient and friendly even when people were nasty. She has to have lunch and her lunch time may not be her choice of time but dictated to her by a supervisor. My husband retired from the Post Office after 45 years of service. The clerks and carriers go through crap because of power hungry supervisors. read more

Pity every neighbor who is assigned this one as their local post office. The mail carriers out of here are the absolute worst. They won't take my outgoing mail, if they have a package for me, they'll ring the bell but be turning the corner down the street by the time I get to the door. What happens to the package after that, I have no idea. They never leave the "sorry we missed you" notification so you really need to have the tracking number to know when you've missed the delivery - assuming they even attempt to deliver it. I currently have three packages that I can't find. The only reason I know they're missing is because the three people who sent them followed up to see if I had gotten them. When I look up the tracking numbers, they either say successfully delivered or notification left. I try to call the office but the line is always busy. The guy who lived at my place before me still can't get them to forward his mail so we hold it for him to pick up. We put our mail on hold while we were away for a week. I have no idea what exactly they did - we came home to a full mailbox. Then, four days after the day we had indicated to have the mail delivered, this huge box of mail arrived. We were baffled over how they must have decided what mail to hold and what mail to deliver and then the random day they decided to deliver the mail they'd held. I'm now that weird friend who comes over and asks if you mind if I put my outgoing mail in your mailbox. Seriously! I just took a handful of envelops to my sister-in-law's house in NJ with me last weekend so I could mail them in confidence! read more

I have to echo other reviews. The hours are inconvenient and don't seem to make sense, other than to make it "easier" for staff. So you close for an entire hour during the day? The space is also far too small for comfort. If there is a line, it's like Tetris trying to fit everybody in. They always have one window vacant so only one person is ever taking customers, even during busy times. Seems like they just want to work as little as possible here, in addition to staffing as sparsely as they can. read more

The staff is surly, it does not open on time. I called about a package, she referred me to someone else instantly at another office. She read the number to quickly, and when I asked her to repeat it got angry. She hung up the phone on me without saying bye after I confirmed the number. Awful. Frequently open late, and then closes for lunch at arbitrary times. (The sign says 1-2, but maybe it'll be 1:40-2:40! You'll only find out once you've wasted your time going!) The surly staff seem to take a perverse, spiteful pleasure in doing absolutely everything. as. slowly. as. possible. -- and slower still if there's a line!
