After experiencing despicable customer service multiple times, I felt compelled to share my recent experience. This particular post office is a low-volume location, but its proximity to my workplace means I visit approximately four times a year. The staff I have encountered clearly display that their purpose is simply to collect a check, nothing more. During my visit today, I waited to use the self-service machine to ship pre-labeled packages. A customer was having difficulty operating the machine, yet the two employees behind the counter were engaged in personal conversation and did not offer assistance. There were no other customers in the post office besides myself and the woman using the machine. After observing this for a while, I approached the male employee and asked if he could help by taking my packages. He informed me that I needed to wait for the other customer to finish and use self service, which I did. Meanwhile, I watched as he stood doing absolutely no work for the duration of the time. I hope they downsize and get rid of these slackers. USELESS read more

Wildly rude for no reason. Whether or not USPS relies on customer reviews for business, there is no reason to treat people like poorly. Management has a responsibility to step in and train the employees to treat people with respect. read more

I went in this morning to ship a package. Arrived around 10am, only one person in line ahead of me. I spoke with Walter who could not have been more pleasant and helpful. I was not aware of how to use the kiosk machine to obtain my tracking information so he offered to help and came out from behind the desk, walking me through each step of the process. I read all the negative reviews and was expecting a dismal experience. It was super friendly like my home in a small town of NC, but I needed to mail a license plate with certification and they helped me efficiently. Also at 2pm on a Wednesday there was no line. I walked right to the counter and a gentleman helped me. Gave me a form to fill out and there was no line when I had completed it to give it back to mail. I'm not sure what else could be done. People who are employed there are obviously in the wrong job. Rude and ignorant treatment of customers, as I listened in line to the way they were talking to people, and the offensive manner of the clerk when I asked a simple question - responding "it's not complicated!" before he informed me of the procedure. Ignorant and rude at best! I appreciate it must be gloomy and depressing working in this post office but as least try a smile and a pleasant interaction once in a while, it may be good for the customer and for you! read more

I went to the post office this morning at 1400 L St NW Washington D.C. 20005. This woman was EXTREMELY rude: speaking very condescendingly (after I asked simple questions, will tracking be included on the receipt?) and complaining about me under her breath about me to her colleague. Her clerk number is 77 and there are NUMEROUS complaints about her on both yelp and google. This is a terrible look for USPS and I would recommend further action. read more

the female employee at the front desk is the absolute rudest woman. she's late every time i've shown up at 9am (the opening time). i was there to get my passport photo taken, after waiting in line and her going at snails pace she said the passport photo employee isn't in today. i asked when he would be in, she said "i don't know". when i came back a few days later and waited in line for 30 minutes because she didn't come into work on time, she said the same thing except added a detail that he comes in later. so rude to customers and lazy. she needs an attitude training class. read more

The employees here were incredibly rude. Not only to me, but the other customers in the store too. One employee tried to explain where the different slips are at and she didn't understand and he started to explain how to tell the left side from the right side. And she had stated this wasn't the first time he has treated her like this. read more

The polite and professional staff here earned the 2 stars... But the long lines, and often broken self-mailing system thingy is seriously irritating. They handle a pretty huge volume here, so I'd think they could afford to hire more staff and expand... No wait, that's not how the government works... I was in today Tues 5/4 in the afternoon. The man and woman are absolutely terrible. The woman especially. She clearly hates her job. I literally walked up to the window and asked for pricing information because there were no pricing labels on the shelves where I got the envelope and box I was inquiring about. She proceeds to start screaming and be incredibly aggressive. You would think I had cursed at her. I quickly notified her that I would post a review with her name if she didn't get her act together. I mentioned that I was simply asking her a basic question related to the functions of her job (customer service) and she toned it down. She is someone who should be fired. Why keep the incompetent and those with terrible attitudes. Besides that today their card readers were down. No where did they specify that we needed cash. There is a massive line of people per usual and only after turning down two cash-less customers did she announce aggressively that we needed cash to pay as if though it was our fault their machines don't work. The man to his credit was more polite but I feel he stiffed me. There was priority tape lying around on the table free to use. So I used it. No where was there a notice that if I used that tape on a regular box I would get charged priority shipping rates. I was so done with their bs and a few extra bucks wasn't going to kill me so I let it go. But he wouldn't even let me see the options. Absolute terrible customer service by two people who should lose their jobs. It's no wonder people hate the post office. I never go and I'm reminded why.... read more

It's a post office, so I won't go into a description about what they do. But let me say that my friend's dad works for the USPS and the benefits and retirement package that he gets is pretty damn awesome. Better than regular federal employees in many cases so there is no need to be unhappy with your job. However, the service here blows and the lady behind the desk is just outright rude. I'll go here due to its convenient location but just note that people who work here are a-holes. read more

Whoever thought snail mail was dead has not been to this post office. There's always a line every time I walk by or when I stop in to mail some letters. Fortunately, there's never a line to drop the letters in the mailbox. Why is there always a line for the services? Because people don't know how to mail things. I am one of those people. I needed to mail a package with tracking, and wanted to go the certified mail route. I waited in line to get more information from the clerk about the best method to send my package. The pace is slow; there were only two employees working around 1pm. They give you their full attention when it's your turn. My clerk was helpful and informative. She advised that Priority Mail was the way to go for my situation. She gave a quick overview of which envelope to use, what Priority Mail entailed, and how much ($6.65). Then I went back to the mailing counter, which had all the mailing supplies (Priority Mail envelopes, forms, slips, tape, etc.), finished preparing my package, and got back in line. More waiting - I spent about 20 minutes there just to put something in the mail. When it was my turn again, I paid for my shipping/postage, she explained the features of Priority Mailing and how to track my package, and then I was on my way. They really should have someone on the floor to answer questions - while I was there, two different customers asked which was faster: Priority Mail or Priority Mail Express... but what can you do. read more

The older guy behind the desk is so incredibly rude and dismissive. I work in the service industry so I know how frustrating it can be to deal with the public, but this guy is awful. I simply asked him about mailing a package with a prepaid label and he said, "there's a machine up there. Have a good one. NEXT!" I said ok but do I get a tracking number? "I'm not going to repeat myself ma'am. NEXT!" He's awful and he was just hanging around behind the counter while the line was out to the door. This Post Office has a great location on the bottom floor of what I think is called Washington Square. They are quick and friendly and have everything you need to get your packages off and on their way. I gave it four stars instead of five because if you don't have your form filled out when you get to the counter they are a little bit snooty. read more

In this locations defense, I've gone back (early afternoon) and it wasnt quite as bad. Even considering it is the Post Office (usually not that much fun), meh, I've experienced better locations. I wish I could leave less than 1 star. Like others that mentioned, Walter, the older male who regularly works here is aggressive, condescending and down right mean. I always brushed off his belittling behavior, because hey I'm sure working at the post office can be aggravating. That changed today. I went in to drop off letters to mail and was immediately scolded for thinking I could drop my pre-stamped letters in the front mailbox. Keep in mind I'm at the front of the store, and can't really hear him from the back of the store, behind glass. So I walk to the back of the store, and said "Sorry I couldn't really hear you, should I leave these with you?" He continued to aggressively scold me for even asking where I should put the letters, and reiterated that he said to put them in the glass box next to him. I said "Ok", put them in the glass box and said "Is there anything else I need to do?" He flew off the handle yelling at me, asking if I was stupid, what else could I possibly need to do. He continued to condescendingly and aggressively yell at me that he told me to put them in the glass box, and "did I do that? Well then what else would be needed". I was in shock and responded, "I was just asking if you needed me to do anything else, sometimes I get a receipt? Why are you yelling at me." He continued to berate me, never collecting the letters from where I put them. I left the store to get out of the situation, in shock over what just happened. The letters were about 20 hand written notes that took me a week to write, so I went back in. The letters were untouched where I left them, I asked if I could just have my letters back (I didn't want to just grab them from his glass box). That didn't go over well, he started yelling at me that something was wrong with me. Grabbed the letters and threw them in a bin on the floor behind him. He threatened that he was going to call all the other post offices so they wouldn't take my mail and let them know how awful I am. I burst into tears, and asked if I could please just have my letters back. To which he told me that I was mentally unwell, needed psychiatric help and to go get therapy immediately. This back and forth of him yelling at me and me asking for my letters, crying, continued. More people started to come into the office, so he eventually threw my letters back at me and I left. I'm still in shock over what happened...definitely not the morning I was anticipating. Unless you're in the mood to get verbally assaulted, go somewhere else. I should also note that I am a "young" female which seems to be on trend with his bullying. If you had a similar experience consider filing a report against him with the Post Office. read more

The self-service is broken all the time but you don't find out until you spend 10 minutes inputting information. I went in three separate occasions. Not ever again. The line is always very long. You will lose 40min of your life here every time. That they don't fix the machines or at least have more than one is shameful. The staff has always been nice though so I won't give one star. read more

Like most USPS locations I have been to, the customer service is very sub par. I went to this location on Saturday morning intending to drop some packages in the drop box. However, when I got there around 9:15 (the lobby and self serve kiosk hours start at 9 am) the drop box was locked. There was NO employee anywhere and no one responded when I called out. My mail carrier loses packages AT LEAST once per week for the people in our development! She has lost six of my packages in the last year. Every time she loses a package, USPS tells me that "it shows it was delivered to your mailbox." Well, obviously it wasn't!!! I've had to resort to sending all packages to my parents, whose mail carrier has made very few mistakes over their 30 years of living there. My mail carrier, and her supervisor Mary, are completly inept, lazy, and never take responsibility for their mistakes. How hard is it to deliver packages to the correct address?!?!
