I don't know a single person who likes to go to the post office. It's gotta be top five worst places to wait in line. Most of the post office is in Jacksonville are short staffed and over loaded with customers. I come to Verna post office at least once a week for items I sell online. I've had good experiences at this post office. The staff is always helpful! especially Tiffany, who assisted me with my passport renewal. While the lines can get long, they move efficiently. The interior is a bit outdated and could use some updating, but overall, it's a reliable location. People may not know this, but if you have a label on your package ready to go you can use the self-serve scanner before you get inside to the line. You can scan your package and then skip the line and drop it off to the side. Some post office etiquette for those who don't understand how the shipping system works: YOU HAVE TO SCAN YOUR PACKAGES BEFORE LEAVING THEM ON THE COUNTER. THEY WILL GET LOST! And that is on YOU! You should never leave without a receipt that you dropped off your package. read more

I like everyone at Verna. They are clearly short staffed and yet they are patient and even cheerful with most of us.

Everytime I come here it is lined up to the door. There is no sense of urgency and only one most times working the front. Worst post office I have ever been too. I always get the sorry we missed you if I have to sign for something. They never try to see if you are home. Was waiting on a certified letter and knew the day it was to come. Stayed home all day to get a sorry we missed you letter. They don't even try to deliver it, they just put a slip for you to come Pick it up. read more

Really poor service concerning the change of address. They don't do their job right!!!

This Post Office is rundown and very very basic. Every time I go there there is at least 10 people waiting in line and sometimes more than that. The staff is overwhelmed and there is little they can do about it but they also move in slow motion. I really try hard not to ever have to go to this Post Office unfortunately however it is my neighborhood post office so if I get registered mail this is where I have to go to pick it up. They have a small selection of cards and such and if you need some packaging they have that as well. They have that little machine where you can put your own postage on your package with a credit card which is useful if you know how to do it. Unfortunately people hate the post office for a reason. This is a really great Post Office! All of the employees are very friendly and very fast. The most I've ever waited here has been maybe 5 minutes. Granted, I've never been in during the holiday season... I'm sure like other Post Offices it gets pretty darn busy during that time of year. But during normal times, I've never experienced much of a wait here. It's so nice to be able to run in and out of the Post Office when doing the whole errands thing. When using other Post Offices, I always dread having to go in. I never feel that dread when using this particular Post Office. read more

This is my neighborhood's assigned post office and I have no complaints about the postmen and women who walk the streets of Riverside delivering our mail. On the other hand, I prefer to go in person to the main post office downtown because this particular one in Murray Hill borders average to below average in service. At one time, this place was great. Workers were plentiful & pleasant and there were lots of self-service options (vending machines, etc.) so you didn't have to stand in line if you just wanted stamps, etc., and it was clean. Not any more. They've removed all vending machines (except for one small mailing kiosk), it's filthy most of the time, and the workers (if there) are surly. They appear to be understaffed and overworked. Yesterday morning, there was one worker to handle the customers who were lined up outside the door and onto the walkway, with more pouring into the parking lot. This is the week before Christmas, you'd think they would have at least two workers on the front counter! I felt bad for her and don't blame her for her attitude. I really hope something changes for this place for the good of both the customers and the workers. read more

I love my neighborhood post office! The staff that work here are extremely professional and exceptionally nice. I have been here when there was a line out the door and everyone was greeted in line and asked if they were picking up or dropping off or if they needed special services. They are really on top of their game at this location and I never mind coming here to do my business. 5 STARS for the westside! read more

Where to begin... They refuse to answer their phone... when you make a complaint about your packages they handle being dropped off at random houses on your block, the driver gets mad and refused to pick up outgoing christmas cards, throwing new mail on top of them... rude, entitled counter staff. And when you attempt to file formal complaints, those disappear also. I guess you have to go in there and kiss their A$$ in order for them to attempt to half-a$$ do their jobs. This is an ongoing problem and will continue until they come up with a new system of management. read more

Better service than most area locations. We you need to ship the staff will help, for USPS nice change of pace. Our local carrier to home address is the nicest Mail Lady, she sings and is very friendly. Plus never mixes up mail, she is very efficient. read more

This is my local Post Office and I wouldn't go anywhere else. I've lived on the Westside/Murray Hill part of Jax for most of my time in this city and have been using this locale for a number of years. While it does get pretty packed during the holidays, on a usual day, you can get through here in about 10-15 minutes (which is what I consider reasonable, at least). I know that post offices are struggling to stay afloat. I know that the USPS staff have a very stressful job. I know its tough working with mail. So imagine how we feel standing in lines everytime, every day at a USPS? There is always a line at this USPS, no matter the day or time. Nice people who work in the facility, but there is always a line to wait, when it would be nice, just once to see all 5 stations manned by personnel to make the wait as small as possible. Actually very pleasant. I typically dread going to the post office since most of them are dated and full of people who could not care less about their jobs. This one is dated, but the staff were shockingly jovial and helpful. I got there shortly after 5 on a weekday. It wasn't busy. The staff greeted me with smiles, were joking around with each other, and made it a genuinely decent experience. Minus one star since the building design feels like something out of Stranger Things, but don't let that deter you. read more

The staff, Mary and Anthony Melvin, were very disrespectful, used inappropriate words, had harsh tones for no reason. And also caused an uncomfortable, unnecessary almost hostile sceneThe police got involved for no reason at all, and they even said it was a waste of their time. There was a huge line behind and held people up. People got so tired of waiting they left the line. I cannot begin to explain the amount of disrespect received from Anthony Melvin. This place is completely worthless. Rude staff, horrible delivery personnel and always a long line there. Our community package mail boxes are almost all broken, keys aren't labeled properly or don't work. Sick of the lazy people putting the wrong mail in my box or my mail in someone else's or someone else's house. Do you freaking job better than that or quit please. I just got my mail out of my mail box and had my mail plus 3 others mail down the street. This is not the first time that this happen I am tired of people not paying attention to there JOBS. I went to get my mail one day and it had a yellow ticket for me to sign and the lady did not even come to the door to give it to me, I just happen and look down the street and she was talking to a friend next door and I through my hands up and she backed up and said well I did not think you wanted it because she had put a letter from the same person in the mail box, I said well you did not even get out of your truck to see if I wanted it. We just moved to this area 6 months ago. We have had mail and PACKAGES mis-delivered to our address 5 times -- including priority mail. This post office can be considered guilty of gross negligence given how many times I've gone to complain about our post office deliveries. Horrible horrible horrible. This review is about a weekend package delivery. I was just curious and looked at footage from my security camera and was surprised how the delivery person just came up and tossed my package on my door step and did not even ring the door bell. Item was not damaged but that is unprofessional as I know since I did complete their training. The biggest problem is that they are rushed to deliver items. read more

This post office literally held my mail hostage! I had to go there and pay them to get a regular old letter someone sent me, after waiting two weeks to get it they finally sent a note saying if I wanted my mail I had to come down and PAY THEM to get it, for absolutely no reason!
