This post office opens at 8:30. At 8:51 multiple ppl are still waiting to be let in. The employee arrived over 10 mins ago and has yet to open the door. At 8:53 she informs everyone that she won't be opening for another 30 mins. Unacceptable. read more

I went to the Catonsville branch post office on 6/25/25 around 11:10am and the worker Daisy was behind the glass. I walked in & went to the window to the far left and waited. After about 2-3 minutes of waiting, I noticed Daisy to my far right. I asked if I should come to her window and she said VERY RUDELY "If you want to be waited on, you do". I told her I wasn't sure if she was doing another job and someone was coming to that window where I was standing. She was very unhelpful and could have given a simple yes or no without being as rude as she was. The Catonsville Post Office is my local post office so I have used it frequently. This post office gets very busy and there is usually a long line to wait for counter service. They do have a drop bin now for prepaid packages so you don't have to wait in line any longer to just drop off prepaid packages. The ladies that work here are very nice. I have however had a mishap with one of the ladies where she insisted that she could stack up all of my prepaid packages on the scale all at once and weigh them together. You definitely can't do this - I ended up going back and forth with customer service due to this to get the charges corrected. All of the other ladies have been awesome. The parking lot here is very small and tight. Be prepared to park on the street and walk a little bit to avoid the nearby street parking spots that are metered. read more

On more than one occasion I have had packages labeled delivered but never arrived, yesterday I had a package that was labeled as such, in 3 minutes I was outside at the porch where it was said to have been delivered and there was no package to be found. You can never get a hold of someone on the phone, I think it's deliberate, and I was called after hours with a voicemail effectively just saying that the package was delivered when it was indeed not. Packages rarely make it on time, and from time to time they just go missing. I like the area but I've never dealt with a post office this bad before. read more

Today saturday sept 28 2024 at 11ish i tried to get a passport for my son. The website said they have walk in hours so i drove 40 minutes to pick him up since he lives near there. Went in with all docs and the young lady at the counter told me nicely that she was not trained to do this and suggested i ask one lady with silvery tinted curls. After waiting patiently for 30 min more i knocked on the door and cracked it open. The lady with silvery curls came to door, said i had to wait outside, slammed it in my face, and locked the door like i was a criminal trying to break in. Over 2:00 this afternoon, I received a call from my friend saying she was sick. I quickly found some medicines and nutritional supplements, hoping her could receive them as soon as possible. I searched the POs and found that most of them were closed. Only this one closed at 3:00, and I could arrive 15 minutes before then. Because it took me nearly 10 minutes to park, I only had 5 minutes before it closing when I entered. I know that people who work on weekends hope to be able to go home on time. But the two staff members at that time did not express any resentment towards me, who was sure to delay their work. Instead, he patiently and kindly helped me handle two boxes of mails. Their communication is also considerate, nice. The interaction with these two people completely relieved my concerns about my friend's health and the panic and anxiety of rushing out. After returning home, I called a friend who has been feeling a bit depressed lately to talk about the process. My friend said this is unusual compared to her usual feelings at the post office. She said that the experience I described has given her some sense of resilience, and she also hopes to have the energy to give warmth. So I want to let more people know about them here and feel such friendliness and care. read more

Hit or miss. Small parking lot, plenty of street parking. More often than not this place is crowded.Most of the time they do a pretty good time of accommodating folk, by having two attendants, and one helping people with a portable machine. Then there are the times when the line is long and there are one to two people, and you are there forever. The staff are friendly enough, and helpful. I was given the low down without being tricked into spending the most money, in fact, I was helped by giving me the price for all options. Great, convenient location. The only issue I saw was the tiny parking lot for customers. The absolute worst clerks around. Rude and condescending to their customers. I had purchased shipping for 3 tubes of posters from the USPS website, and affixed them to the outside of the tubes. I brought them to the Catonsville Post Office because my branch was closed. The clerk was obscenely rude to me, and questioned whether or not my posters qualify for media mail (they do, they are educational pieces, and fall under your "Printed educational reference"). The clerk yelled at me in front of the entire staff and other customers, and threatened to open my packages. I told her she was welcome to do so to verify them. She told me she was going to open them later and then send them back to me if they did not meet the standards. I said that was fine with me, and left. Today, they showed up on my doorstep. They did NOT open them to verify, and stamped "SPOILED" all over my packages, and crossed out my original postage. Is this how you're supposed to treat your customers? read more

Edited I wrote a pretty harsh review some time ago and felt a little bad about it (even though it was true then). I've been back to the post office many times since and try my best to make friends with the lady I described below. I think we're friends now. I hope we stay that way :-) If she's reading this, I call a truce. Way too much bad s*** going on in the world to be enemies. Edited first review: I pride myself on being able to talk and communicate with most people and can almost always find some  common ground. Not the case with this one employee. She's been rude to me since the beginning, try as I may. Today was the breaking point and I had to let her know that I was displeased. She gave me curt, short answers after a long line of waiting, she wouldn't give me prices of delivery options, she sent me to the back of the line because something wasn't right with my form and, after waiting in line again, tried to bring another customer up in front of me because I was taking too long to pack my envelope. All of this after she held up the line by talking 10 minutes with another couple that, based on their conversation, she already knew. There was another employee there that apologized for her coworker behavior. That said, all of the other employees I've had dealings with do seem to be pleasant and helpful. read more

Consistently rude and incompetent employees. Even the simplest question or clarification you ask gets met with an eye roll or snippy and rude remark. I usually go to the Arbutus Post Office on Waelchil which has great employees and is far faster at getting folks on their way, however I've made the mistake of being lured in by Catonsville's extended Saturday hours which are better than the Arbutus branch. I've gone three times to Catonsville to mail packages and each time has been equally unpleasant while interacting with different clerks. Going to this branch is a truly miserable experience. Depending on your schedule, drive the extra few miles and head down to the Arbutus branch. read more

Everybody was friendly and willing to help you if you hade any type off issues. Didn't realize how tiny the building was and the parking is representative of that. I would say ten spaces MAX with no room to maneuver so be wary of that. They also lack an APC which may contribute to why the lines are always so long. However they have several drop boxes in front of the building and across the road too. I come to this post office weekly to check my P.O. Box and to routinely ship packages. Everyone I have dealt with is pleasant. I also applied for my passport at that office and I was in & out in less than 30 minutes. The only reason this isn't a 5 star review is the wait time; some days it can be lengthy. Although that is more the fault of the consumer incorrectly filling out mailing labels or trying to mail something that isn't allowed. read more

I go to this office frequently since I just moved to the area in 2013. Found most, not all, of the African American female counter clerks are as nasty as can be to white women. I went in last year to get my tax package hand stamped as it was the 15th and had to have a date stamp on it. The woman at the counter would not stamp it. Her tirade went on after I had waited in line for almost 15 minutes. She indicated that if "I had to hand stamp customers' mail, I'd never get done!" She also said it " was against regulations." I asked to speak with her supervisor. She said she was not there. I got the supervisor's name and number, went outside and called her. The supervisor told me to go back in and tell the clerk to hand stamp it. I told her that I did not think it was my job, nor did I feel comfortable, to tell her employee to do her job. So she told me to knock on the passport office door and the man there would hand stamp it. he gladly took it and hand-stamped it. Having worked for the post office and having relatives who currently work for the post office, there is and never has been any regulation that states that a customer can't get a hand stamp on any package they request. While I was still there, the clerk spoke derogatorily about me to her other African American "counter girls." Everytime I've gone back, I get the same nastiness, coldness from this clerk. If her counter clerk "girlfriends" are there, they chime in both behind my back when I walk out and while I am still there! Not sure what her name is, but she needs to be fired, not retired out. She is one reason the Post Office is doing so poorly. read more

I hope this post office is the next to be shut Down forever! I hope everyone in Catonsville buys stamps at Sam's club or elsewhere. I went in to ship a package instead of paying an outrageous amount on a flight to check a bag at the airport. I didn't have a mask. They said it was required. I was dropped off and left my mask in the car. I said ok do you have one. I'm pregnant and can't breathe in masks nor Are they required in Florida anymore. Furthermore, in Florida, in order for a business to require a mask, you must provide one. Two ladies here were just pure rude. I plan on writing all the higher ups and supervisors of this rude employee and supervisor. Catonsville is proudly represented by the nice old ladies outside the building planting flowers today these employees are despicable. I normally work with Mrs. Daisy and she's great, and I also worked with a gentleman who I can't remember his name at the moment but he was so fun and made it a blast. It is 6:40 PM on Tuesday and we haven't had any mail service today - - - what gives? The prior route person always had the mail delivered by 1 PM at the latest. I had mail in the box to go out after a long holiday weekend and was looking for a piece of mail that I have to have to move forward on a project. Not sue what is going on but service to the home is slipping fast. . if they can't handle the deliveries, drop the weekend but ensure the rest. This would decrease cost and should improve service. When I was able to climb the steps I went to Catonsville Post Office often. Have also used Ellicott City location as I worked for Ho. Co. Govt., and Post Office was nr. work. Their lines are just as long as Catonsville and so are Columbia and Halethorpe. Ellicott City location usually has 3 employees on duty, and some of their employees would not win any "smiley awards." There are also Woodlawn and Enchanted Forest locations. There is parking in the Catonsville United Methodist Church lot across the street, and a meter on the lot where the church asks for a coin donation to keep the lot in decent condition. Now I order stamps by the roll on line or by calling the 1-800 number. Go on line and Google USPS for the phone number. You do pay a small fee (under $5.00) for this service, but delivery is quick and you don't have to stand in line. read more
