This little local is a post office in the area, being new to the area it's Siri that guides the way. Now this office has the ability to be used twenty four seven with lobby access. You have to wait until 9:30 for the actually building to open and you can have face to face conversations with the post officer. The staff here are very knowledgeable and friendly. It's a small local with plenty of parking. The lines can run a little longer because it's so small. Get all your mail needs met here. Thank you for your help and support.

Immigration Note: The immigration documents have a checkbox that after a green card approval, USCIS will send over your paperwork to the SSA to save yourself a trip. The problem? As far as I can tell, USCIS doesn't do this and the people we asked at the SSA about this didn't seem to know anything about this checkbox on the immigration forms. So with that, we had to setup an appointment for her social security card. (I still want to know the mechanism that sees the checked box and forwards the paperwork from USCIS to the SSA-if anyone knows this, send me a message and let me know---Just curious). The process was simple. The staff was nice. My only peeve was the appointment scheduling. They tell you that you need an appointment but that's mainly to stop hundreds of people from descending on the office at any given time. We scheduled and showed up 20ish minutes before our designated time. When you check in, you're put in a queue. It has nothing to do with your actual appointment time. We were seen 45 minutes after our appointment time but there were people there that had waited much longer that day. We were told the card would be here in 7-10 days. We received it in a week.

This is my regular US Post Office located in downtown Shelbyville. Since we live out in the rural…read morecountry area of Shelby County we invested in a Post Office box when we first moved to Kentucky. We have never regretted that since we can't see our street mail box at the end of our long driveway from our house. I can't tell you how many times we've had to replace our street mail box when vandals decide to drive the country roads and smash mail boxes for fun. Needless to say all important mail goes to the Post Office. As for counter service for mailing packages this Post Office is convenient for me. It has a small parking lot that includes two handicap parking spaces. Unless patrons of the nearby court house park in this lot there is sufficient space especially early afternoon. The counter service has one employee during the lightest periods but has space to have up to three employees during heavier times. Most of the employees are quite capable. During hours the the counter is closed you can still enter the lobby to mail letters inside. The lobby also has a display stand that is always stocked with an assortment of Priority Shipping boxes. With Christmas right around the corner I will be back on Monday with all of my boxes packed, labeled, and ready to send. Thanks for the wonderful service!

We opted for the office closest to our house which is the Fairdale branch. There are plenty of free parking spaces in the lot. Once we entered the office the waiting room was full. We took the next number which was 39 and found a seat to wait. The number being served was 17. It was about a 45 minute wait. Daymara was the clerk who assisted us. She was friendly, polite and effieient. She had to fax the info to Frankfort to have the title released from the finance company and said it would take 5 to 10 minutes. She asked us to step aside so she could assist another customer while we waited for a response from Frankfort. Once she finished with the next customer she promptly called us back to her window and completed the necessary paperwork and we were done. Kind of a hassle to spend an hour when our transaction literally took 2 minutes but that is the process.

I had visited two different offices and found long lines. As it turns out each office is running on skeleton crews. I was thankful they were able to be open. As we stood outside in single file with 20 people before me, we were periodically explained by employees under CoVid protocol the Staff of only two on duty can only allow two customers inside at one time. To help speed the line we were given information to have ready and if anyone didn't have all needed documents one was saved the loss time. Once my turn came, I found the employees to be helpful and courteous. My renewal was easy and faster than expected. " Patience is what is needed in thees difficult times ", Plenty of lot parking No facilities available Revised hours due to CoVid.
