The reason this location gets so low scores is because of FEDERAL mismanagement and disinvestment in the Post Office that isn't the fault of the employees of this branch; The realistic score is likely a 3, as they are helpful and explain a lot that has confused me, but damn can you tell staff here is tired, overworked, and underpaid. My girl Ericca has always hooked me up and been there when USPS was making me track my packages. So yes, they could be better and the facility nicer, but that's why it's important WHO runs government agencies - some folks are more likely to INVEST in places like this that need it because it is a vital government service to have (Hence why I'm giving it 5 stars to be counterbalance). read more

Unfortunately, this post office has the laziest, and most incompetent workers... We moved to a 2nd floor unit in April... Never did I expect to not receive my packages because the postal worker is too lazy to walk up one flight of stairs. I have had to make several complaints, and each time I'm told it won't happen again, and then it does... I cannot comprehend why anyone would get a job delivering mail when it's common sense you have to go up stairs. Go get a job sitting down, but stop playing with people's mail! I had an important letter that needed signature for delivery, and guess what? Marked as I wasn't home... No one even knocked! For the 2nd time this week, I , along with dozens of other people, had to wait an extra 30 minutes for the POLK STREET HOLLYWOOD FLORIDA LOCATION to open up on time. The management there has been dreadful for the last few years and this tops it off. Not only did we have to wait for them to open up 30 minutes late, we had to help an UberEats driver locate the USPS supervisor so they could eat her food, while on the clock, before they opened up. Signs said due to short staff they would open at 10:30. Yup 2 hours late! They didn't open until 10:50 and even thought we and others had appointments for passports they did not take any of them. Supposedly they don't have someone to process them right now. So we waited in the hot lobby for the place to open 2 hours late just to be told our appointment would not be honored. What they couldn't afford to put signage up so we didn't have to wait an hour? Great job to DOGE for cutting staff at the post office and necessary services. I had three Christmas cards sent to me in December. Two were never delivered. The third was opened and the cash inside was stolen. Hometown post office located west of Federal Highway. Free parking on the street out front or a block west in a city parking lot while taking care of post office business. No matter what time of day you go it is congested here and you will wait on line. The employees here are one step up in happiness over your mail delivery person. It makes you realize this is your government agency hard at work or at least going through the motions until the exact strike of the clock when they can close or go on their government required break. Yes this place is right up there with going for a root canal or having over relatives for the winter months and can't understand why you aren't more excited. The good news you can buy stamps elsewhere ie I pick up mine by the 100's at Costco knowing I don't have to go to the actual post office and wait on a very long line like sheep only brings me joy. read more

Was surprised to learn, after standing in line, that they do not sell stamps for post cards. Was told that I had to use a full price stamp and they would sell me a book of those. Asked for a stamp of smaller value or denomination and was told there were none. Luckily, I had purchased a book of stamps at CVS so I applied two of those stamps and mailed my postcards. First time ever being told I could not purchase postcard stamps or individual stamps. Otherwise, they were very nice. Just thought people should know before they wait in line. read more

Most people try to avoid theses places if not absolutely necessary. I was almost successful if it wasn't my own carelessness when making a purchase on eBay and not checking that the address was complete. Although it took multiple attempts to get someone on the phone, when they finally answered they were pleasant and extremely useful. Too bad my package had already made its way back to Alabama. I wish I got her name - but I was pleased that she tried very hard to get me the most complete information on my package. Millennials dont use the United States Postal Service. They're going to kill it like they did Toys 'R' Us, diamond sales, cis-heterosexual gender binary relationships, marriage, retirement funds, Applebees, and big box department stores. So when I had to trek into this place for a second time well, I was surprised. I was ready to put this place out of business while shamelessly eating my avocado toast. You want to send a letter cross country because the person on the receiving end doesn't know how to use the internet thing ? A stamp is a mere .50 cents. A millennial wont have to work more than 2 hours to make that back, right? Want to send a two day express envelope? It will cost you $6.70. Thats it. The lines move pretty quick, if you have no idea what you're doing, just take whatever it is you have to the counter and tell them you there because your letter/package cant be sent over wifi- they will do you a solid. I swear. Now for the reals, I felt odd using a service that has been offered to every person in the U.S. since 1775 for the first time in 2018. The USPS is self funded, meaning they rely on us using their service to keep themselves in business, they prepay pensions and healthcare for 70 years...in advance. I also learned that there is a banking bill that wants to use the postal service as a public banking option for 25% of Americans who don't/cant bank. The plan for a public banking option would be competitive, especially to payday loan lenders. I came in here to sent a few letters and walked away feeling like this place means more than what I didn't know of it. Go figure. read more

So! I come in this morning to see this lady Cindy (a petite old lady who works there) being rude and condescending with a customer who clearly didn't speak English. She said a few times "Learn English" while rolling her eyes. I am not defending the fact that some ppl for whatever reason refuse to learn, but I am condoning the fact that as an employee it should be expected to deal with these type of situations especially in south Florida. I think she should handled the situation much better. At the end the guy didn't understood and I guess didn't get offended, for us in line it was just rude. Clerks @ location on Polk have always been polite and helpful. The problem arises with there being too few clerks. It is a busy location and many times there are only 2 clerks sometimes only 1. Passport appointments are delayed because the clerk who does the passports, despite being very polite, runs late, 10 minutes always. The carriers from this location that deliver to Sheridan & 24th Ave area frequently steal customers packages. Many of my packages from Amazon as well as from family members are scanned as "left in secure location " but that is code for "We stole your package". I have had many packages from carriers of the Polk location steal my packages, open them and retape them. Watch out!!! Write a complaint.... read more

I have never been treated so badly at any post office before. Javier is the most miserable human being at that place and doesn't deserve a job at the post office. He shouldn't work there if he hates himself and his job so much. He is very condescending and goes out of his way to be rude to you in front of everyone in the line. He told me several times to leave and make an appointment for my passport, when there's a clear sign on the wall that says passport renewals do not need appointments. I finally waited until I saw someone else who seemed nicer, I asked him, and he went over to the passport desk and poof! Miraculously got my passport renewed after Javier sad it would be impossible to do in the same day without an appointment. So glad I never have to go there again. People call and call stay on hold for more than an hour - Nobody ever answers or the calls get dropped. In South Florida for example, the post offices are labeled "Black Holes" due to its high percentage of fraud and criminal activity inside the facilities; employees screening packages for money, drugs, or expensive electronics and management is involved in the ring. Packages "misteriously" disappear, people never get reimbursed the insurance they pay, and most carriers are on the cell phone all if the time while delivering packages. We see it all of the time in our neighborhood - one carrier was arguing on the phone yelling out loud foul language without a care. The corruption is out of control read more

One star is too generous. This place is the worst Post Office I have ever seen. Today I asked to speak with supervisor regarding my stolen mail and refused to speak to me. I have ordered to hold my mail and they never did it. Mail was still being delivered. When you try to call their number they never pick up the phone - NEVER !!! I guess manager and supervisor feel invisible and simply don't care. They sit in their comfortable positions feeling like they are untouchable. I just Arrived from my short visit to the Polk office and I came back home very upset. I was online, not so much people, this Guy Javi called me to be at his register, I was going and I received and important call, but I said to my caller, hold on a second and I keep giving him details. he was upset because I forgot to put our city zipcode, I put it fast, and them when he told me the price I opened my wallet, still with my call on hold and I paid. My Bills were a little wrinkled but totally ok. He started talking " I don't know why people have the bills this way, I don't understand this kind of people" , and I asked him "are you upset?" this guy started yelling on me, telling me names and telling that I was making all the line slower that he wish. I said that I am paying and doing also the line, and he answered me that I was not paying his salary. I said to him " This people looks frustrated, really the are like suffering doing a Job that they don't love and making others feels miserable. I work for a surgeon and we recently changed locations so I had to frequently pick up our mail at this post office. He makes you feel like you're bothering him. Without prejudicing, you must remember that is Not a Free service and you must work to satisfy the needs of your clientele and your corporation (public or private). In this form you will be able to maintain your job and achieve the greatness that has been apparently lost. Two stars represent my interaction first with a person who's obviously unsatsified with her job and assumes a position of further dissatisfaction when pointing that I've placed my items to be sent internationally in the "wrong" box, and used the "wrong label." She had zero interest in guiding me. Honestly, this encounter deserved a less-than-one star. Luckily, a second representative was more attentive, courteous and willing to just go a little extra to satisfy the needs of a humble customer like me. She actually would have gotten a 5-star review if it wasn't for the first encounter. read more
