I had a PO Box for over 10 years. I paid up For 6 months. I came into get my mail after not getting it for several weeks and they gave my mailbox away. The person who worked the P.O. Box retired and left a mess. They gave me a new box without informing me. They sent all my mail back to sender. I had tax papers coming in and social security documents. All returned. They insisted they couldn't give me my box back because the new owner refused to give it up.the box they gave me belonged to someone else's who was able to get it back. They gave me another box without informing new keys.9 had to contact all my areas on incoming mail,make phone calls to change the address which took 3 days. I can't believe they were able to do this. They had a poor explanation on how this happened and tried to blame me for changing. If I did change why didn't I have keys to a new box they gave me . I was paid up how can they give it away while it was paid up which I had documentation for. This was a nightmare. read more

The people who work there are rude!!!! All the time very miserable!!! Then the mailmen that delivers to my apartments in Fairfield seem to have been messing up! Put my W-2 in another persons mailbox! Another time I didn't receive my car registration tags etc if you're a mail carrier, you should be more careful while delivering mail! Okay okay... I'm here about 2-3 times a week because of Poshmark sales LOL I'm the one stealing all their free envelopes and boxes! Sorry!!! ha ha Lines here are long as with any USPS but it goes by fast and service is friendly. I like how they have a few long tables out in the hall near the P.O. They mark packages as delivered but they don't deliver them! Happen to me a bunch of times. I got a notification of it being delivered so I ran out to get it and nothing was there and no mail person anywhere. Happened again last months. $100 worth of stuff and it just magically disappeared. She said she thinks someone stole it. But I get everything else. And today. My item says out for delivery. She gets here between 6 and 6:30 I went out to wait. I see her truck up the street. Then it leaves. There is no mail. No one on the street has mail! The postmaster doesn't do anything and says the gps says she scanned it at my house. LIES!!! Also I gave her an envelope to be mailed and she put it in her hand with stuff she was delivering. It never got to the place it was going. read more

I'm so surprised by the many poor reviews. My son and I went in to purchase stamps. The line moved quickly. The cashier was happy to to show us a few options for stamps. She even kindly explained who was being honored on the stamp for Black History Month. We are living in town temporarily but we happily return should we need more stamps. read more

The older Asian lady here was very rude and unhelpful. When I walked in nobody was in there yet she rudely asks me "what do I need?" I shrugged it off smiled and said I would like to ship this package. I do resell I've been doing it for years. The label will be created and I have 4 days to ship. Yet she came at me with some bs that since the label was created four days ago and the shipping said two day shipping she couldn't scan it. I tried to argue the point I've done this many times no problem. She goes well now they're strict about it, idk who's they but I can tell you it was all her who felt that way. I went out right after our conversation took it to self serve scanned it in no problem and dropped it in the drop box crazy how I didn't get the item shipped back to me. I thought she said they couldn't take it? So why did the computer outside take it and then it was shipped no problem? All I can guess is terrible customer service with workers who are looking for any reason not to help. I will never come in and get physical help again I suggest you do the same there's a self service kiosk that will let you do everything yourself so you don't have to go through any hoops like she wanted me to do. read more

I'm a fan of snail mail, but not when I have to wait for 30 minutes to complete a post office transaction. =/ Anyway, the post office is small.. the parking lot is small, there's 2 different entrances and 1 exit, so it causes lots of traffic when it's busy. I've been here a couple of times and the busy hours is usually around 4-5 pm... I guess that feels like an appropriate time to visit the post office for most people. So if you go around that time, you'll definitely hit up the long line.. sometimes the line goes out the door. =/ However, the postal workers there are super nice and patient even if you're struggling to get all the delivery confirmation or certified mail forms filled out or have questions about them. If you want to avoid long lines and have a credit or debit card, you can use the self-service machine and get your postal errands done that way. However, warning.. if you see an elderly struggling with the machine, help them out, won't you? :o) read more

Another warning to anyone thinking about doing business with this particular USPS office, DON'T. Find another office, go to UPS, FedEx, WHEREVER. Just DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS OFFICE. Their rating is this low for a reason. They will lose and/or STEAL your packages, mark them as delivered and then look at you like you did something wrong when you come in to find your shit. They can't even send a money order to a destination IN THE SAME TOWN without it mysteriously vanishing. This place needs to be torn down and rebuilt considering the needs of the city. This post office is WAY too small for the city of Fairfield. There's always a line no matter what time of day you go. It's even worse in the afternoon. Always crowded and not enough postal workers to handle the lines in a quick and efficient way. Looking at some of these reviews it makes me laugh. I go to post offices in several cities and you would think they have never been to other post offices. Stamp machines: no post office in America has stamp machines. That's too bad. Why buy one stamp at a time to begin with. Parking: The Postal Service is NOT under any obligation to provide parking. Downtown Oakland has no parking whatsoever.You pay the meter and hope you don't get a fat ticket when you leave. Long lines: This is systemwide and unfortunate. Window Clerks: There job isn't easy. When there are long lines the supervisors in the back sitting around doing nothing are NOT allowed to do anything to help out. In closing, I think this is a pretty good branch, but like one person said"it needs to be torn down. " Fairfield is a lot larger now, then it was in 1970. I have to say, worst postal service I have EVER experienced. By zip code, I have no choice as to which post office delivers my mail but, I NEVER,EVER conduct business there unless I have no options. I always take my mail to the other post office as, I have had bills not show up in the past. They have delivered my medications to the wrong address which constitutes a hippa violation. They have delivered a neighbors medications to my address. But today takes the cake! I was notified that two deliveries were made but upon opening the P.O. Box, there was a neighbors package but, neither of my orders! And they wonder why they are bankrupt! I will try to have UPS OR FEDEX DELIVER FROM HERE ON AS, peace of mind is much cheaper than dealing with these tools!!i had to give one star but, they aren't even deserving of that!! read more

The United States Post Office on Webster Street in Fairfield, CA. has got to be the MOST DYSFUNCTIONAL POST OFFICE EVER !!! It is 99% Impossible to actually talk to anyone if you have an issue. I went on vacation, was gone for almost two months. I had made arrangements for my neighbor to retrieve my mail, out of my mailbox, that is located in my front yard, every other day. Never had a problem with this in the past. I have "Informed Delivery" where as I can look on my phone and see what mail is being delivered to my house everyday. So, each day I saw what was "BEING DELIVERED". I was expecting some VERY IMPORTANT MAIL, along with RECURRING MONTHLY STATEMENTS, and STATEMENTS NEEDED to file Income Tax. OUR BRAINIAC MAILMAN took it upon HIMSELF to determine that we NO LONGER lived here, therefore he had ALL OF OUR MAIL RETURNED TO SENDER !!! You can imagine trying to straighten this out, especially when it is impossible to actually speak to anyone, no less anyone that could be helpful. I can only think that the FAIRFIELD USPS ON WEBSTER ST. has no oversight and can get away with WHATEVER , there is NO RECOURSE, we are at their MERCY !!! I have been home for a month now, and my mail is still SCREWED UP. My husband talked to the mailman when he saw him out front (because my husband was MUCH NICER than I would have been !!!) he assured my husband that all is good and delivery is happening like it should. I am not convinced that this is resolved, I am STILL missing key pieces of mail regularly and these guys get away with it !!! By the looks of these other reviews I am not alone in my frustration at how the USPS on Webster Street in Fairfield, CA is SO DYSFUNCTIONAL. I can recommend the USPS on Peabody Road in Vacaville. This is by far the worst and slowest post office in the area. Besides all the lost in transit packages over the holidays . . . and the "who's at fault blame game" between USPS and UPS - I am just so done. There has got to be a better service - so I drive to Vacaville where the service and pace is somewhat better. Postal mail delivery employee leaves the community box unlocked and mail is put in the wrong boxes, etc. I even took a stack of mail that ended up in my box erroneously and hand delivered it to the post office - yep waited in the long slow line. So this post office pretty much lost a package I paid over $60 for. This is the last time I ever order a package through their system/branch. Don't bother calling or e-maling them about any problems or concerns you have about their service either because they don't give a damn about them. In fact, don't even use their service. Go to the suisun branch because at least they pick up their phones/respond to e-mails/have a faster and more convenient service/care overall about their customers. This is the worst post office ever. Their customer service is awful and the wait is worse. We at meditteranean village apartments haven't been able to get our mail for two days because of a broken mailbox . This new mailman wont' leave it at the office. He was rude and mean to the assistant manager. We can't get to the post because the mailman came after the post office was closed. This is the most ridiculous thing that has ever happened. This place is seriously awful. They are extremely short handed and you have to wait in line for at lease 25 minutes. Also I've been noticing that the employees get really upset when anyone is trying to make an appointment for the passport service. Very slow, very dirty. Not recommended at all. Besides a different beggar here every time you go, it is a nice post office. The side door has been locked recently so if you park on the street and not the lot you still have to walk all the way around. The manager is enthusiastic and always makes sure extra help is at the front of the line starts to get bottlenecked. I haven't had any problems here and they have a parcel service for po boxes and a text system that works good in conjunction with it. read more

Two days ago I received an envelop measuring 6 by 9 inches from the East Coast that was ripped open in 3 different places. Someone tore it open with a small knife and stole what was inside. It was delivered to me just like that. I went to this post office to file a complaint and speak with a supervisor. The supervisor was not there but I left my number and address. Never got a call which an employee told me was going to happen. I have no idea where they stole the contents but I still want to let the supervisor know, if he calls me. BTW, the employees at this office are rude and not polite. I have a tracking number which I intend to follow and file a complaint with headquarters. Be careful what you mail. read more

I got an email from USPS stating it was delivered to my PO box, but it never was. They kept insisting because I got the email it was delivered. Terrible!!! Absolutely terrible!!! I try my hardest to avoid going here to mail a package because as other reviews have stated, it's a small building and gets super crowded. However, that is not my complaint. My complaint is with our carrier!! 6 weeks or so ago I ordered 2 items from Ebay. There were both shipped at the same time and they were both due to be delivered the same day. Both of their tracking numbers said they were on the truck to be delivered the same day. I heard the mail lady put the mail in the slot (I knew it was probably going to be in a bubble envelope so wasn't expecting any big boxes) so I went to check and sure enough, there was one bubble envelope...but just one! I immediately opened the door thinking she may have left the other out on the step, nothing. A little while later I checked the tracking and it said both were delivered!!! I called the office the next day and they said well according to tracking it was delivered. Yes I know it SAYS that but I grabbed the mail immediately after I heard her and only had 1 package. So they took my info and said they'd call me back. 2 days passed, never heard back. I called again, spoke to someone else, got the same excuse (but it SAYS it was....), again was told someone would call back. Nothing. Filed a formal complaint on their website form. Nothing. No phone calls, no emails, nothing. I wrote it off as a lost package and moved on. Fast forward to 12/3/12. My daughter's grandparents ordered a couple of items from Amazon for her for Christmas. Same story - shipped same time, on the truck at the same time, said both were delivered, but only received one. This time the carrier knocked on my door because it was a box and wouldn't fit in the slot. After I got my dogs contained I opened the door - whaddya know?? Only one box. I told her grandma and she checked the amazon tracking and said the estimated delivery was the 6th (but you know how those estimates can be off sometimes). I checked the official tracking numbers just a little bit ago and BOTH SAID DELIVERED!!!!!!! WTF????? I checked the number of the box I received against the time it said it was delivered, which was 5:23 pm - yup that's the one I have. The other box said it was delivered to Travis Air Force Base at 11:29am. WTH?? I don't live on TAFB, hell I don't even live in that same zip code!!!!! I called the office again. It rang and rang, no answer. WTF?!?! GRRR!!! I found an 800 number and called it. LUCKILY I got someone that actually has a brain. She said she was going to investigate and someone will get back to me by close of business tomorrow. We shall see. I told her that's what I was told last time. Customer service is a joke here. I need to go here a couple of times a week to pick up business mail. Today I had to go to the customer service counter to pick up an oversized package. There were about ten other people in front of me when I got there with two clerks working. After about five minutes and now about fifteen people in line, one clerk closes her window and walks away. An elderly woman about five spaces in front of me walked up to the lone open window when it was her turn and wanted to purchase a couple of USPS Money Orders. The clerk said that she didn't have money orders and the customer would need to wait for another clerk to help her. This elderly woman had to stand to the side for over five (after having been waiting in line for about 15 minutes) more minutes for another clerk to come and open a window. I thought this woman would faint from having to stand so long. By the time the second clerk came and opened a window the line of customers was out the door. I see this almost every time that I need to go to the customer service counter. Line out the door, one clerk, or/and clerks who close down their window and leave with a long line of customers, etc. The only positive thing I can say is that the clerks have always been friendly. The speed of the service counter clerks here seem to be slow, slower, almost dead..... I am going to try to change where I pick up my business mail as soon as I can. read more
