I just graduated from the Medical Assisting program and I absolutely loved my time at Unitek. The enrollment process was super easy because they guide you through the enrollment steps. Richie and Ashley from Career services were a big help throughout the program, and were super fast at responding when I had questions. I felt that I learned a lot from my on campus teachers/mentors Ms. Crain, Ms. Oliver, and Ms. James, as well as from my online experience with Ms. Dori and Ms. Kaur. They took their time in explaining each subject in depth so that we could understand. They definitely have prepared me for the medical field. This program was absolutely worth it and I see myself going back to Unitek in the future to further my education. read more

Concord compass: I have no clue how this school has 3.8 stars because that's considered high for the nonsense you deal with. First of all I would like to say, if you got a scholarship through Futuro with Kaiser and you get in this program planning on ever working at Kaiser when you get out, just please delete that idea from your mind. That's the whole reason why I took this course through Futuro, come to find out at extern time, Kaiser isn't even contracted with Unitek or Futuro (make it make sense) to do your extern there so right there my whole plan of getting an extern at Kaiser and hopefully landing a job there after graduation was just shattered!!! instead, I was constantly offered an extern making it seem like DaVita was the only option. DaVita has a huge turn around hiring rate for extern with Unitech so it makes the school look really good as if their program graduates get hired quickly after completion. Which they do at DaVita if you want an $18-$20 an hour pay rate and absolutely not doing any medical assisting at all while you're there, so it just completely ruins everything that you learned in the medical assisting program. Not to mention, I was there for seven months and we had five different teachers.. again make it make sense? We will learn things from one teacher, and then all of a sudden they would leave, and the new teacher that came in would tell us we were doing things incorrectly and we would have to relearn some of the things over to the new teachers liking. Bottom line, it is just an extremely unbelievably unorganized program, there is no consistency with teaching, there's no accuracy as far as what we learned because the next teacher will teach us a different way, and the online teacher that I had was just absolutely terrible. She would explain nothing and dock your grade, you could send her several messages with no response and even when you would reach out to the higher up, they wouldn't even respond back to you, and they were in the same building in Concord! They also left there too by the way and I heard that they had been there for years and got let go. So yah, this program needs to be shut down and then opened up by all new upper hand that actually know what they're doing and how to run a beneficial MA program. I've graduated the program a while back and I still yet to land a decent paying medical assisting job, the highest I've been offered is $20 an hour and honestly if I wanted to, I can go work at target for $22 an hour. In the end, I feel like it was just such a waste of time and I would actually be livid if I didn't go through the scholarship program and get granted to take it, and actually paid the $15,000 out of pocket to take it. As a first time student, my experience so far is horrible, the new instructor has no idea as to what they are teaching, lack of experience, lack of professionalism, lack of communication, etc. The list could go on. I paid $15,000 for a program that can't even provide a qualified instructor. Instead, they assigned a brand‑new teacher with "six years of MA experience" who clearly isn't prepared to teach. She comes to class unprepared, doesn't seem to understand the material herself, and can't handle constructive feedback. Most students on campus feel the same way -- she takes everything personally and acts like she knows it all, when she should honestly be retaking MA classes to learn the basics properly. It's extremely disappointing that the school lets good instructors go while students are left wasting their time and money. I do **not** recommend the morning MA class. read more

Unitek CONCORD- There is no communication from management. Most students and staff don't know what's going on most of the time. Instructors are quiting in droves because they are paid horribly, overworked and disrespected. Yet the school continues to add more cohorts with a skeleton crew. They had cut the experienced, full-time instructors down to part-time, took their benefits, then hired fresh, new grad nurses at full-time at lower rates. The instructors are not even required to have teaching credentials or experience as instructors or nurses. As a student, the inconsistencies in instructors and teaching methods mean we teach ourselves. With about half a million dollars worth of tuition in one class, students should not have to teach themselves the material, they should be able to pay the instructors a livable wage, have soap and toilet paper in the bathrooms (many times they don't), afford to turn on the a/c (without complaining about how much it costs), and have someone to clean and disinfect the desks, classrooms and microwaves. Students are bullied by eachother and instructors. Reporting any issues just paints a target on your back. One instructor asked two student's studying in the hallway if they were studying for their "green card", one instructor called an Asian woman "ling ling" because she didn't know her name, she also stated that "Hispanics think being fat is healthy" as part of a cultural lecture. This and more were reported to other instructors and the deans at the time and NOTHING was done. In fact, one dean told a student that, if they were offened THEY should go talk to the instructor themselves. Nursing students must have a certain amount of hours completed per state regulations. The school does not care what reason someone misses class. The issue is, even if they do a required make-up assignment, they don't get the hours back. Even if they come in to make up the time, they don't get the hours back and once you are over in time missed you are thrown out. Students have been in excruciating pain during class but can't leave. Students who miss class due to being hospitalized still lose hours. A student learned her mother had just passed away and was told she could not go home. Unitek does not care about the student's education or well-being. All they care about is money. They will lie and demean anyone for it. read more

If I could give zero stars to the Nursing School on this campus, I absolutely would. My wife attends nursing school here, and the lack of professionalism and the existence of extreme disorganization are honestly shocking. Communication is inconsistent at best--important information is either delayed, unclear, or contradicts itself depending on who you ask. Schedules change with little notice, expectations are vague, and students are left scrambling to keep up in an already demanding program. What's even more concerning is the apparent focus on internal conflicts rather than student success. There seems to be a constant cycle of "witch hunts" targeting instructors, where administrative energy is spent scrutinizing and undermining faculty instead of fostering a stable and supportive learning environment. This chaos trickles down to the students, who end up paying the price through inconsistent teaching, lack of continuity, and unnecessary stress. Nursing school is supposed to be challenging because of the material--not because of avoidable administrative dysfunction. Students deserve structure, respect, and a program that is actually invested in their growth. I had a medical emergency that forced me to pause my program and rejoin a new cohort with new students and new teachers. Joining a new cohort was very difficult for me. I want to say i learned how to connect the dots and I understand the breakdown of things thanks to ms. kuns. Everything made so much more sense with her. I've read the other reviews and it's a lot similar with what I've gone through. The school and its entirety seems very unorganized and I've experienced that just at orientation. None of the people there who were supposed to be helping us could really answer any of our questions to start off, before that they give you so many different advisors you don't even really know who to talk to about what and half the time your advisor is switched with another repeatedly. The actual instructors in your program, I wouldn't even call them instructors because they are mostly there just to sit and observe once in a while, they don't really show you anything or engage much with you. This isn't even my own opinion, I've asked many of the other people in my same class about the instructors behavior and they all say the same thing, that you're learning basically from your colleagues. The instructors don't really seem like they want to make sure you know what you're doing step-by-step and if they do show you something they'll do it once really quick and then just kind of expect you to know how to do it and a lot of people don't learn like this. I think maybe the school needs to ensure the instructors are more hands-on with students instead of just there to answer questions and sit at the desk. You're learning 90% from the other people in the program and not the instructors and sometimes the instructor doesn't really seem to involved or enthusiastic about what they're supposed to be showing you so you don't really feel safe asking them questions. Other than that, I would say the best part of the school is your classmates. They are really the only ones helping and getting you through the program. read more

I dropped out of the LVN program, because they were unorganized and didn't have an instructor for us for clinical. Another group did not have a clinical site nor an instructor either. I had great teachers but just very unorganized to be paying 40k out of pocket. I also sent out an email and they didn't address the problem very well and switched the narrative to that "i was not resilient and the course is hard," ... i was top of my class mind you. PLEASE READ WHICH PROGRAM THE REVIEW IS ON. I'm sure there are great programs at Unitek Concord. But I'm reviewing BSN Advanced Placement. I'm currently in this program and I'm at year 2, semester 2, session 2 Adulth Health II and Information Technology in Patient Care courses. Just to recap: -Year 2, Semester 1, Session 1: (intro to Chem, professional writing, nutrition) completely online, the last of the prereqs to start the advanced placement program, no complaints here. -Year 2, semester 1, session 2: Health Assessment I & Pharmacology in person, Pathophysiology online, no complaints except that we started off mostly online and then they put us on campus for most of that term "per updated requirements for curriculum" which seemed to most of us that it wasn't completely necessary to hold lectures in person when Zoom is sufficient. (I understood why exams had to be proctored in person though.) -Year 2, semester 2, session 1: Health Assessment II & Adult Health I all pretty much in person. Clinicals started and there was only one clinical site available at first so only about 10 out of 40 students had a site. Then the faculty asked US (the students) if we could ask our employers about taking clinical contracts so we can get hours. Eventually there were 2 more sites that opened, which then eventually got shut down due to COVID outbreaks. Mind you, we each paid $110K for a program that didn't have contracts set in place to carry 40 students this enrollment period. Pretty much did simulations, nursing care plan assignments, and concept maps the rest of that session. Which brings me to now, Year 2, Semester 2, Session 2: Adult Health II & Information Technology in Patient Care, mostly online so far because of schedule issues, we're currently 4 weeks into this session. Our main professor stepped down so the dean and other professors have had to step in. Our schedule as been rearranged multiple times due to which professor might be giving the lecture, whether or not there is a professor to proctor an exam, and the unorganized scheduling of clinical hours conflicting with theory hours. 8 students (including myself) have not yet had any simulations nor clinical rotations to count for our hours (even after emailing the faculty weekly if not more frequent to get an update) and we're 4 weeks in on this 8 week session. I wonder how they're going to get 96 hours out of us with only 4 weeks left? It's not fair that we suffer when they were not staffed to handle this large of a class for theory and especially clinicals. The rest of the class are getting clinical rotations except for another group of 8 students waiting to start their assigned rotation this week. But still, we 8 students have not gotten any update (my last email to the faculty and dean was this morning) and we are supposed to start this Saturday 7pm-730am (yes 12 hour overnight shift) and Sunday (yes same shift that interferes with Monday's theory hours) and this gives us an hour and a half rest until theory lecture starts at 9am. I gave a lot of information but I'm telling you this, you are getting ripped off at Unitek Concord for $110K BSN Advanced Placement because the disorganized approach makes students work harder just to keep their schedules and assignments organized. Please don't make the same mistake I am in getting involved and overpaying. There are other programs such as Nightingale, Samuel Merritt, Gurnick, etc, that cost less and may be better put together and at least be able to provide you sites for clinical rotations that you don't have to do that job for them. I'll keep posting as the program goes on. Hopefully it gets better. read more

Original review from Google 3/22/23 As others may have had a great experience at Unitek, mine was not the best. First they make you pay $1400 (non refundable) for the prereqs. After you pass the prereqs it isn't garanteed you'll get the seat you originally applied for, it's all based on how high you rank, not how soon you finish your those pre reqs. Lily Bradford sends out emails but never a mentions a dead line for the stuff they require you to get done. You will be on the run around and constantly have to ask for help. They will only send you to the person of contact and most times they do not answer the phone but respond to emails. For the financial aid process be aware if you qualify for financial aid it may only cover just a fraction of the what the LVN program cost. Which is over 30k, because they want you to pay all up front before attending the program they expect you to pull out the loans right away. Today I was supposed to have those loans pulled before 1pm or else my seat was going to be pulled. When my mother had called to question this Stephanie Romeo who was my financial aid advisor crossed a professional line today and told my mother "Maybe you should be more involved". Both my mother and I have given them all the paperwork that was asked of us, and they got it. Until they needed the loans. Everyday it was always something new they needed from us. I emailed Lily about withdrawing my application and told her what had happened and that it wasn't right. She then emailed me back stating that she could not talk about the conversation that went on with my mother and Stephanie. But mentioned mother saying it was "too expensive" which is false. She just wanted answers as to why they wanted so much money pulled before even attending Unitek. Please do your research on for profit private schools this place will waste your time and just take your money. For someone to tell a parent whose information was being used the whole time throughout the application process, to "be more involved" please do better and get more training. That was very out of line, Unitek never addressed this and no apologies were made. read more

I made the best decision going to Unitek for my Medical Assistant program. I had the choice to go to a couple of different schools, but I had a feeling Unitek was the best option. And boy was I right. Not only was the onboarding process easy, but they really do prepare you for the first day. I got Ms.Soto as my instructor and hands down she was best instructor/teacher I ever had. She really puts our education first. She pushes you towards your potential and absolutely prepares you for the field. She deserves so much recognition for her efforts and teaching! Ms.Mitchell and Richie are amazing too. They really help prepare you for your externship, interviews, etc. when I got to my externship, I truly felt like I got the best education. I had an externship with a couple of other students from different schools and you can tell that I was taught the correct techniques and material. I would give a full 5 stars but the financial aid department is a bit hard to get a hold of. Over all, I am going to miss Unitek so much. If I ever consider moving up in the field to nursing, I 100% would go back to Unitek. Thank you Unitek staff for being the best! read more

My instructor was Mrs. Soto and she was amazing. She can be hard sometimes, but she only want what's best for you. She wants you to succeed. I recently graduated the LVN program and although the journey had its lows the teachers really made up for it. The start of the the program was rough and we lost our teachers but the teachers that did step up really did a great job. Ms. Sanders stepped in as our clinical teacher and I learned so much from her! She's amazing!. She was encouraging and so kind. She made our clinicals engaging even in the classroom with games and case studies that she made fun. She's very knowledgeable and definitely has a passion for nursing. Ms. A also stepped in for clinicals and she was also very knowledgeable and encouraged us to be independent while she guided us. I also learned a lot from her. Ms Flaherty was our theory instructor and she rooted for us the whole was and really cared about the material she was presenting and always made time in her schedule for tutoring and to make the material clear. I think the 5 stars are definitely for the teaching staff! In my opinion admissions needs to be more clear on the financial side of things since the they did keep switching the cost of my tuition due to the cal grants and my start date getting pushed back. read more

I complained a lot when I was a student. A lot of things went wrong with my experience. The one thing I cannot complain about was the staff that molded my nursing career. 2 of the most important people I carry with me every day are Ms. Seslar (instructor/Director of the Nursing Program) Advocated for me when no one would. She believed in me and pushed me to be better than I thought I could be. Ms. Janelle Carter for clinicals is hands down the reason I felt prepared to be a nurse in the real world. She pushed me to be the best nurse I could be. Her scenarios and assignments were tough but I would never ask for any less. She cares for each one of us and motivates you to put your nursing cap on. If you're lucky to have her on a clinical rotation rest assured you're going to feel ready to take on the world! Ms. Wakaye and Ms. Sanders- I could not thank enough. Ms. Kathy Rocha in career services is as helpful as she is kind. I've been a graduate for almost a year and every time I see her she still checks on me and makes sure I have as many opportunities to advance my career as when I was a student. I am just about done with my MA program and I'm super exited ! If you are looking for a program to get you in and out this one is it. I did the afternoon classes because it was what best fit my work schedule and let me tell you, I got so lucky and blessed with the best teacher. Mrs El Arbi is such an amazing teacher i was lucky to have her throughout the entire course. She is very supportive and will always help you when you have questions, she responds to emails in a timely manner she will not have you waiting 2-3 business days for a response. Now she will be hard on you but that is because she cares and wants every one of her students to succeed. Overall i owe it all to Mrs. El Arbi for teaching me the skills I needed along with tips and tricks to prepare me for the real world. I would highly recommend doing the MA course with Mrs. El Arbi. The Unitek LVN program was definitely challenging and took a lot of effort and self teaching. The program was not perfect and we had multiple changes thrown our way. If I had read the review when I first met Miss Davis I would disagree with the raving reviews . Because to be honest Miss Davis really gave me though anxiety inducing love. But to be fair Miss Delita ( awesome nursing director always available to answer questions) was right, Miss Davis really knows how to read the room and her students. She knows who to give thought love and who needs gentle nudge. And she will definitely challenge you to give it your all! She knows when to give encouragement when it's needed and she will definitely put you in your place when your out of line. She will provide you with what you need to succeed with the program and toughen you up and get you ready for your nursing future as long as your open and willing to receive it. During the program we had a great balance of instructors Miss Sonam who's such a motherly figure always pushing for me to get 100, Miss Blanch and Miss Sabrina were absolutely strict but all definitely paved my way to success. I went to unitek During Covid. I was nervous to go back to school because I been out of school for so long. My instructor Michele Davis is God sent. She is amazing is an understatement. Ms. Davis took her time and gave us every tool we need to be an A 1 nurse. I finished my program yesterday. I started the IT program on June 1st right as the Covid-19 pandemic started. Yesterday i had just finished the course and now I'm on the final step of my externship process. Stephen Potter was my instructor for the course and i was extremely satisfied by his work ethic and dedication to making sure all his students succeeded to their greatest potential and had the ability to make the whole process smooth by offering his expertise and knowledge in a effective manor. In the world we live in sadly, it is very rare to come in contact with someone who has genuine empathy, compassion, and dedication in what they do. Mr.Potter has always strived to be understanding in anything i had going on while providing me the necessary tools to be successful. He also gave me a new found confidence in myself and my abilities that i never knew i had. A lot can improved especially with on the administration's side BUT one of the greatest things about my experience her is being place under Ms. Loraine Brittingham's class. Currently at my IT externship which is the part of the final step of of the program. I had Stephen Potter for all my modules during the evening hours (P.M. classes). It doesn't matter whether your are very knowledgeable or just starting your educational journey in IT, Mr. Potter does an excellent job at explaining technical concepts in a way that almost anyone can understand. He is very patient with his students and will go above and beyond to ensure that the class as a whole will succeed. Although we were not able to have any on campus hands-on lab experience due to COVID, Mr. Potter's shared experiences and the provided course material definitely has prepared us for our externship and future careers in IT. The program has exceeded my expectations and I will continue to keep in contact. The school also follows up with their students in a timely manner, whether past, or present which is nice. I had a lovely experience from when I scheduled my first meeting to meet with Roqia (senior admissions rep). She was always reachable. Helped me with any forms/applications. Fred, my financial aid counselor was the best too! He was very knowledgeable in this area. Last but not least, my instructor Ms. Michele Davis the most down to earth instructor I have ever met. She made learning fun. When Covid happened and we had to do virtual learnings.. she implemented Jeopardy at the end of every lecture which really tested our knowledge. It was fun and interactive. My experience at Unitek College has been great but definitely could have been better. Through out my time here I had a total of four different teachers which at times got difficult and a bit frustrating because you tend to adapt your teachers way of teaching. They were all great teachers which made that a bit easier. Unitek does not have you do the NHA certification they just advise you that it would be better to get it. This school also does not provide you with your phlebotomy certification which considering the price of the school I do believe they should, since we do get taught how to do several types of blood draws. The administration can get a bit unorganized at times but at the end of the day are very helpful if you need anything.
