In life there are people who just stand out without trying. For me It is Paula at U.P.M. What a nice woman. She is grace under fire, helpful, patient and kind. Since day one I have noticed this and not just for me, because I have seen and heard how she interacts with other patients when I have been in the office. She is very consistent with everyone because its just who she is as a human being. I wanted to take time to share. There was also one day when after my appointment I need to add coolant to my car. I went limping back into the office on my cane with my antifreeze bottle and was having a tough time. Paula noticed me and came out from her reception desk area out to the lobby and said I can fill that up for you if you would like. Wow, I could have cried, what a life saver she was. And not just that day, but anytime I have needed guidance or help with paper work, scheduling or just anything she was there. If I call on the phone and happen get her, I feel like I am the only patient they have. The world needs more people who have this natural, unforced disposition of real humanity, who simply care because they ACTUALLY CARE. And in the are of healthcare, kind spirits can heal the body and soothe the pain, both mental and physical. It really does matter. I don't know if Paula will see this, but I want to say thank you Paula for the kindness you have shown me, and for just being you. You are a rare and refreshing spirit. kindness and understanding go such a long long way. It is a pleasure to know you. The one-star rating is in relation to the front office. Nothing to do with the back office and the physicians that I see regularly who care for me. They are amazing and I do not have any complaints at all towards them. So today I went to my regularly scheduled monthly appt. I was told by Paula D. at the front office that I needed to update my paperwork. I explained to Paula that I needed help filling my paperwork out as I have had two brain surgeries and brain cancer, so I have low mobility and strength in my arms and hands. She ignored me a couple times then as I became upset, she was angry and was bothered to help me. I'm already disabled and have low self-esteem and depression from things I can't do and things I have been through, so this incident just triggered it even more. She made me feel like a bother and more handicap than I am if that makes sense. Paula D. was very rude, unhelpful and very unsympathetic. It was a very big disappointment as I always come here and really like most of the staff and doctors. I usually don't write reviews but I hope this will help another patient not get mistreated. read more

Universal Pain Management. Apple Valley, Ca. Dr. Ashley Morello. Ashley and I have been working together for the last several months. Honestly, I cannot say enough good things about her. Ashley's knowledge of pain and the effect it has on me physically and emotionally has given me the confidence to share the daily pain and concerns I have. I finally feel like a Doctor is really listening and truly cares about me. Ashley is quick, I give her a problem, she gives me the answer. Wether it be a new medicine or a referral. I look forward to my next appointment because I know that I will talk to Ashley. Ashley clearly cares about my wellbeing. Waste of time. Waited an hour. The Doc did not examine my Dad, but, instead, gave him a list of 5 options ranging from Tylenol, to Opioids, to surgery. We will be finding a more engaged and less formated medical provider. read more

This this the only pain management clinic I've been to. I've been going for a several years and I have no complaints. I have chronic back pain and they've done procedures, which worked for a while, but of course nothing is going to make the pain go away forever. It's called pain management, not pain removal for a reason. I definitely recommend UPM. read more

Six weeks to get an appointment. appointment: fill out 25 sheets of paper. because I am disabled, I spent over an hour without finishing. They mostly asked the same questions repeatedly and much of it irrelevant. I could cover the necessary information in five minutes with a doctor. I don't believe there was a Doctor present to see me? I am 85 years old, and have seen maybe hundreds of Doctors for myself, family and friends, and NEVER have I seen such a slipshod operation. I am getting out while the getting is good. read more

I am rating this facility a 3. I love Suja Alexander and all the front office staff, but Dr. Gill is as bad a physician as I have ever seen. He doesn't listen, is condescending, cuts me off mid sentence, and refuses to acknowledge my plea to stop talking over me. It was a torturous appointment. I'm not even sure why I was there after talking to him. My complaint is directed at Dr Riegler who was NOT treating my husband's cancer but thought he needed to assure my husband that he would indeed die from his cancer so he had better just get used to it. These words took my husband's hope away from him. They were irrelevant to the reson we were there and they were CRUEL! He told us his wife was an oncologist so I guess that made him an expert in the field also. My husband left crying and was never the same after that. It took everything in me to not become violent at that moment. I couldn't believe my ears or the fact that he got into my husband's personal space pointing his finger at him telling him how horrible he looked. We never saw Dr Riegler again. To this day that doctors words haunt me. They take an oath to do no harm. My husband left mentally and irretrievably damaged read more

I have been going here for over a year and every person who works for this office is caring and understanding of my pain needs. They are very thorough in my care. I feel cared for and that I am a valued human being. I live with some degree of pain every day of my life and I can only tollerate it because of the help of all of these amazing people. They make my life worth living which before their assistance I did not feel as well as I do now. I love them from the Doctors to the receptionists that greet me when I enter the office. I've been going here since moving to the high desert in 2015. I absolutely love them. I've been going to a pain specialist for chronic back pain and sciatica for some 20 years. I've had one back surgery prior to coming to them. The first Dr. I met was Dr. Alves, who stayed and talked with me, and listened like he had nowhere else to be. On my 2nd appointment they suggested I may want to consider a nuro-stem implant. In 20 years this was the first place to mention an option other than just constant pain medication and it had been around for 50 years. I was more than willing to do anything that might improve my level pain and by years end I had the surgery. It has been life changing. Just before Thanksgiving I had the trial surgery to see if: 1. It worked for me 2. I could tolerate the amplitude this device pulsed through my body. They were kind enough to allow me 2 extra days before removing it so I was able to make a 2 hour drive to enjoy the holiday with my family. I knew immediately I was having the permanent surgery. Two days after the surgery I was out Christmas shopping for 9 hours. Prior to the surgery that was an impossibility. Since that time I've continued to go. I am not pain free, nor will I ever be, but the quality of my life had improved drastically. Getting older has brought a myriad of other physical issues and they have worked with and helped me every step of the way. I will be forever grateful to the kind and professional people at Universal Pain Management. They gave me back my life. read more

The doctors here could care less about your well being. Nurses are irresponsible and borderline incompetent. No one here can seem to do their job. They always schedule for the wrong doctor or forget to collect a test. They schedule you for multiple appointments in one month then never bother to inform you which one to come to. They will drop you for one clean test, even if they're aware they need to change medicine because it doesnt work. Dont come here and get dicked around. read more

I have a phobic fear of docotors and medical offices and going into the office...seeing and visitng with the desk staff, begins my positive experience...the receptionists are reassuring, calming, friendly and helpful. They are genuinely interested with how I am...how my dogs are..they touch my hand from across the desk and make me feel safe and even peaceful. ***Jacky Hatter is amazing..she is a PA. She explained thoroughly my condition and the implications of various treatment plans. She was in no hurry and made sure I understood so I could make decisions going forward. Thanks Jacky! DR. He is very kind but a STRAIGHT SHOOTER..no blowing smoke up my proverbial skirt about the glories of procedures and possibilities of a ways to make my life pain free..we talked...lots...about how to live a quality life in spite of the pain. I have been going to Universal Pain Management for quite some time now. The whole staff is amazing. My appointments are always on time unlike other doctors where you have to sit and wait an hour and a half or more for your so-called appointment. I have many doctors but no one compares to the staff at this facility. They genuinely care for you and care about you. I feel as if they are my extended family. I am a senior citizen and I literally gave up trust in any physician. Universal Pain Management is the most caring and professional practice I have been to in many many years. I truly look forward to my monthly visit. They go above and beyond to take care of your medical and emotional needs. If you miss the old school way a doctors office is supposed to be, you will be absolutely thrilled after your visit. There is so much more I could add, but go there and experience it for yourself. Love the doctor there but that's about it. This is the ONLY office I've ever known where you can't page a doctor to talk to them directly AND they are not helpful if you want to make an emergency appointment. Basically when you make a follow up appointment, you better pray nothing goes wrong in the mean time because there is NO WAY to get a hold of your doctor. Only good if you want someone who will simply give out medications once a month! read more
