What a great find for us after going to a local flamenco show nearby. The vibrant chattering diners at the outside patio tables drew us in. We chose to eat inside though for the air conditioning and comfort of cooling off, because even though it was 9:00 in the evening, it was still a hot August night. We loved the numerous variety of tapas on the menu and the offering of a tapa size, 1/2 plate portion and full plates gave us options of the sizes we could order for each dish. We ordered the Brie with marmalade (5+/5), fried anchovies that were served just fried (5/5), the oxtail stew (5/5) and the pork sirloin with whiskey sauce (5/5)---after we noticed that many tables had ordered this particular dish. My favorite were the anchovies because you can't order those anywhere where we live. They were delicious and flavorful. The oxtail was so tender in a rich savory gravy. Definitely a delicious treat. The pork loin and whiskey sauce was different from anything we've ever tasted and delicious in a tangy way. The Brie and marmalade was a perfect way to start the meal. We loved the flavor combination. Service was friendly and the food came out quickly, but separately spaced so that we could enjoy each. The place had a great vibe that made us happy to just be there dining. This was a fortuitous find and we would certainly go back and do recommend to others.

This is a must have cuttle fish-delicious

Came in for dinner about 9pm on July 7, 2024. We got a seat in the back patio area. Waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable of menu specials. We order the pork curlet over with whiskey sauce, wow tender succulent medallions of pork with a whiskey garlic sauce, wow superb. We ordered a pitcher of sangria, against what others told us- not the best but good enough for us, i guess we were thirsty. We had grilled squid, ox tail stew was fantastic. We also order fish fries, were ok but given we had more tasty and savory dishes the fish fries were an after thought- i even forgot I ordered it. Anyways great food and a relaxed ambiance with the family- we declined the bread because it was pre- packaged rolls. I was so hungry, i forgot to take a pictof the pork with whiskey sauce.. totally a must have!

What a cute spot! It's bigger on the inside! There's a terrace in addition to the inside bar- so come on in! The service is A1 we had our drinks right away, and as soon as we ordered our croquette tapas: they were on the table! Very refreshing sangria and they have a nice assortment of wines too. We got olives for "free tapa" and they do charge €1 for bread. Try it out and enjoy!

The misters on the shaded patio were saviors on a very hot day! Then the beer, wine, and sangria were cold and great. The grilled artichoke tapa was one of the best things I have ever eaten! Had the cheese with bitter orange jelly and it was fantastic. Had the pork loin with whisky glaze and this was good but nothing special.

Everything we got here was so good. I got the octopus which I had never had before and it was really delicious. I was surprised how good everything was for a random bar we just randomly decided to go to. Super nice presentation of all the food as well. Definitely a nice surprise

The day we came here was the start of the April festival and I felt like it was a different kind of busy. Because even though we were tourists in this lovely city, we felt like there were definitely a lot more tourists than usual judging from the expressions and what the waiters were saying to each other. That said, we got here pretty early (compared to a Spaniard) for lunch and was able to grab a seat. We ordered calamari, grilled octopus and Iberian sirloin with whiskey sauce, all of which was really good. Both the calamari and the octopus was so incredibly tender. I felt like it blew away any version I've ever had before. In hindsight, I wish I ordered something else because eating a giant plate of octopus and calamari was a little similar. The Iberian sirloin with whiskey sauce provided a different kind of texture since it was crunchy and salty but I didn't really taste the whiskey in it. Overall, the place had great food, okay drinks but we felt like it was pretty expensive compared to some other places around. But for our first meal in Seville, it was a nice introduction to probably our favorite city in Spain!

Universal People Bar was a great find as we were stumbling around on our plane hangover having just landed. The food was good, the staff was friendly, and overall we had a great meal. Not a bad 1st stop in Lisbon. The long and short of it: 1. Food. Universal is a tapas bar so you know the drill, a bit of everything. There were plenty of vegetarian choices as well as a few stranger plates, most available in both tapas and full sizes. The King Prawns in Garlic Sauce was particularly good (served in boiling oil!) so I would recommend that. Get out of your comfort zone and try something new, it's all good here! 2. Bar. Universal has a full bar which we made good use of. A few local beers, decent wine selection and plenty of cocktails. A good compliment to a few tasty tapas. 3. Atmosphere. Sort of like a local beach-side chain restaurant is the vibe I got from Universal. It's cozy, but does give the feel that it may be catering to tourists (not a bad thing, am tourist). A good space to eat and drink. 4. Location. Right in the middle of Plaza San Salvador, Universal is hard to miss. It is also surrounded by some fun bars if you feel like grabbing an after dinner drink, or just a nice place to walk around and digest. 5. Price. Tapas portions will run in the 4 - 5 euro market with full portions venturing more towards 11 -112 euros. Tack on a few 6 - 7 euro drinks and it's not the cheapest meal out, but not terribly expensive either. Overall Universal People Bar may not be spectacular, but it's all around solid. I can't say it's a must if you're in Lisbon, but you could certainly do worse. Overall Grade: B

We ordered their roasted lamb with cous cous, garlic shrimp croquetta (that was the croquetta of the day), pork cheek stew with potato purée and the chocolate panna cotta for dessert. We also ordered their sangria and tinto de verano. Every dish we ordered was AMAZING - tasty flavorful well seasoned melt in your mouth meat bursting with flavors. We devoured every bite and it was hard to pick a favorite. Both the lamb and pork dishes were 11/10. Not just the taste but the presentation of every tapa was fantastic. Their drinks were also great. The dessert was to die for. This place is super packed during peak dinner hours and there is barely any room to stand. Since we walked in around 11pm, we got a seat and were well taken care of all thru the night. Also noticed alot of veggie options on the menu which was great. Service was awesome ambience is chic. I am certain I am going to crave their tapas once I am back home. Highly highly recommend this place when in Seville.

Where do I begin? Let's talk about the ambience. To call this place rustic would probably capture…read moreit best, it's really probably more like a cafeteria or a school room at a very old school. Tables perhaps a bit close together, not terribly comfortable. Loud, busy. As far as the service, it was our impression that our waiter was the only person serving the 30 or so tables in their dining room. Suffice it to say the service was not fast and not good. Inexplicably, every time we ordered a Coke we were asked if we wanted a Coke Zero. If I wanted a Coke Zero I would have said the words Coke Zero. Even when I asked for another Coke, he again asked "Coke Zero?" It took next to forever to get the check, and forever to get a cappuccino. At one point I took it upon myself to point the waiter to a table behind us that had been desperately attempting to get his attention. This was all not good. As to the food. First, our fault for not knowing what tataki meant. We did not expect to receive salmon that was seared on the outside and raw on the inside. So that one is on us, although we also think the meal came tepid at best. The lamb on couscous was dry and tough. The pork cheek stew was actually pretty good if a bit gluey. The calamari was good. The sushi as they called it was average. What they called the tiramisu was more like a pudding with some liqueur and chocolate on the top, and a little bit of breadish stuff in the bottom. Not my idea of tiramisu, and probably not yours either. So we could not get too excited about these various dishes. But what was particularly frustrating and bizarre was that two people sitting across from us ordered food that looked absolutely delicious. So we got to sit there wondering why we didn't order what they ordered. They ordered a large beef dish with potatoes which is on the menu, and we think they ordered a large octopus meal although we are not sure. Everything they had looked better than anything we had. So it may be that we somehow just picked the wrong items. So it was a strangely frustrating meal. This place has good reviews and we expected good tasting food. Unfortunately it did not work out that way, and the ambience and service were negative contributing factors. I can't entirely write this place off, only because the food other diners received actually looked very good. But I don't think I would go there again.

The layout can be a bit confusing, as the restaurant seems to have three dining rooms with separate entrances but only one kitchen. Where we sat was charming, with stone walls and wood-beamed ceilings. We started with the foie appetizer, which was a delightful surprise for my palate. It was a unique combination of foie, cream cheese, and what I believe was pear. It was unusual, but I ended up really enjoying it. The zucchini noodles with pesto and burrata were also very enjoyable. However, the star of our dinner was the 40 day dry aged ribeye, cooked perfectly medium-rare, tender, and absolutely delicious. If we had discovered it sooner, I would have happily eaten here a second time.

Great texture and flavor. 9/10 The croquettes were good, I didn't like the mayo on top. 8/10 The dessert that was essentially a bread pudding was absolutely delicious.i barely tried the orange dessert but it tasted like a Pillsbury orange cinnamon roll. Dessert and service were 10/10
