I've had issues with my Spanish tile roofs for a few years and kept holding it off until the water damage started to penetrate my master bedroom on the second floor. Initially I wanted just to get it repaired since I wanted to get the minimum work needed to get my Mediterranean style home to be sellable when I was ready to put my house on the market. I contacted several roof contractors on Yelp to get an estimate for a roof repairs for Spanish tiles. Some responded they were busy so never came over. A few came to inspect the damage but later ghosted and never even gave me an estimate. Manny was the one person who gave me an estimate for both a repair and a total replacement for my roof. Initially, I went with the roof repair so I could use the savings for other home projects. Manny accepted the work and his team eventually started to address and focus on the damage near my master bedroom and to get tiles that closely match my 50 year old tiles. During the work, Manny later spoke to me and shared the extent of the roof damage and recommended that I replace the whole roof rather than do the patch work Manny was willing to do. Even though the whole replacement of the roof was 4x the price of the repair, I respected Manny's knowledge and honesty that a whole new roof was the way to go. The work took two months since it took a month for the tiles to be ordered and shipped from Southern California. Manny was always easy to reach and kept me up to date on things. His workers showed up early at 7 am and ended their day around 3 pm when it got too hot. Not only did he do my roof but also the gutters that needed replacing. On the final day, Mannys team left my balcony and the area clean of dust and debris. I'm very fortunate to have had Manny and Universal Roofing do my roof when other contractors were not willing to do the task or give an estimate because it was Spanish tiles. Had their "sales" rep Kevin come out 02/08/24, wanted two separate quotes for (1) roof tile & gutter cleaning (2) eve repair. Kevin said "of course". I didn't hear back and followed up few days later with no response. Followed up today 02/27/24 via text, and he called to tell me "it just seemed like a hassle and not fair to send separate quotes if you are going to use another company for one of the projects" I told him directly that I am looking for two quotes.. he continued by saying "that's like going to the nail salon and asking for only one hand" WOW! Wonder if he'd have the balls to say that to my husband! Told him it's all good and we won't be doing business with you. I have more feedback for the owners if they're smart enough to listen.. This company started a roof without a permit not only neglected to put tarps down along the edge of the house to catch nails or debris but left Nails in debris everywhere which caused me to catch a flat tire on one of my vehicles they drop shingles off the roof that fell on a car the damaged my windshield they broke a side mirror on another vehicle and then as a safety hazard they loaded the new OSB sheeting on top of the roof 50 sheets High above each front door if they were to a fell there could have been bodily injured to somebody or death I've never seen a company be this sloppy in my entire life read more

worst experience ever , they overcharged and added charges and did worse than just a poor job , disconnected our ac air return and they came back to fix it after we told them about it not being sealed back up , just went up there without even asking us to show them the issue but didn't even fix the spot that was leaking at all they added a piece of metal that wasn't even in the right spot .. so months later nearly a year actually and it still has a 1 inch gap to this day that spans 3 ft across the unit where the air return connects to the unit and now our ax has gone out completely from Overworking itself constantly racking up our energy bills for a year now ,because we thought they fixed it this whole time , . While yhey did the roof they used materials that we had here that were not for the roof job to save money for themselves but still charged us more than the estimate/contract , lots of wood sheathing was very dark and still has soft spots when stepping in certain areas it moves a lot . It wouldn't have been too expensive to replace all of the sheathing and at a cost of around 21 k for a fairly small roof it should have been fresh sheathing all over and should have all been covered by the 21k not using our materials and still not replacing everything , but yet charged us extra still , even asked me to go get more materials at the store when they ran out , didnt replace insulation under rotted out roof that they wanted to hide before inspector came , used a 10 dollar tube of caulking I had for another project without even asking me , they started the job before they had the permit officially approved and covered up rotted sections before the inspector came, the list goes on with the sketchy ways they did business ,they must have paid people to leave all these nice reviews because these guys are crooks and do less than minimal effort cut so many corners and then had the audacity to charge a few extra thousand dollars saying they did extra . We recently hired Universal Roofing to do a complete tear-off and reroof of our home. Keven came out and gave us an estimate after explaining our options and answering all our questions. He was very knowledgeable and thorough. Universal scheduled our job, working around the frequent rainy days. They started on February 12th and were finished in 1 week. Our roofers were Francisco and his 2 brothers. These men were very hard workers and also very polite. They did a great clean up after every day of roofing. On 01/24/2024 I circle 8 companies to call out. 5 of them need me to leave a message. I did. The Result: 2 of them can send somebody to do the inspection around 10 days later,3 of them never respond or call me back at all. After the storms in January, we noticed several wet spots on our ceilings in two bedrooms. As our insurance was going to do the repairs indoors, we needed to have our roof repaired. we have a 1933 house with a roof in bad repair. Manny and his crew replaced the roof on the house and detached MIL unit in a little over a week. they were all professional, hard workers. they did a great job, cleaned up thoroughly afterward and the roof looks great. we chose an Energy Star tile and the house seems much cooler. We knew we needed a new roof, but we we're unsure if we wanted to replace our gutters and downspouts as well. We received several bids. Some roofing contractors did not offer gutters and downspouts and some did. It was Universal Roofing that offered a bundle price replacing the roof, gutters, and downspouts at a nice competitive rate. When Manuel and Jose came out to our house they introduced themselves and then proceeded to take measurements. After that Manuel went over their shingle product and explained that it had a 50-year warranty. Other contractors prices were for a 30-year warranty. After that Manuel explained we can choose colors for our shingles and for our gutters and downspouts. He had samples of the color options for us to look at. My wife and I went over all the bids that we received and decided that Universal Roofing was offering the best product and value for the price.
