I love ACE where we live in NC and this one in Auburn. Full disclosure we're related to some of the employees (by marriage) at this store. I don't think they give us special treatment. The store is clean and customer service is great. In a convenient location near the mall and movie theater, University Ace is dwarfed size-wise by giants Lowe's and Home Depot but features accessible, friendly staff. The employees were all smiling and happy to help us. I needed some plumbing supplies and was able to quickly locate what I had in mind after a gentleman pointed us to the right aisle. Prices were reasonable. Ace is a chain but has a pleasant, local, non-chain feel. I don't spend much time in hardware stores, but this was a good visit overall. read more

The power equipment section of the hardware store needs to be recognized for the very knowledgeable, courteous, capable, and fast service they perform. I had an issue with an Exmark mower that was just a year old and under warranty. When I called and talked to Blake, I gave him the rundown on what my problem was and he was very knowledgeable and professional and accurate on what it most likely could be. Blake said to bring it to the shop and he would do his best to have it ready the very next day. That's something that is unheard of in this day and age. So after I dropped it off and we discussed what my portion of the repair may cost if it wasn't due to any part failure and what would be covered under warranty as well. Blake called me first thing the next day before they opened and we chatted about that is was exactly what he diagnosed over the phone. He also did the 1st service on the mower as well. The whole crew back in the repair shop were very helpful, knowledgeable and courteous to say the least. I also rewarded all the fellas with a hat from my business that I am now retired from as a thank you and made a great customer and business relationship/partnership that's very important years to come and for others to take notice of. Took a chainsaw and a pressure washer to their small engine repair. Chainsaw ran no better after I picked it up than when I dropped it off. Pressure washer still won't crank. Already took chainsaw to another repair shop and will have to do same with pressure washer. So, what did i pay Ace for? Answer, absolutely NOTHING!!! read more

I love this place, and not just because it's a more convenient location than the mega stores in Tiger Town. The staff wins the day here: friendly, knowledgeable, super helpful, and present! I can't stress enough how nice it is to walk in, be greeted promptly, and then escorted to whatever you need. They're so efficient they might actually miss an opportunity to let me walk around and impulse shop! (sort of joking!) They may not have 10 different brands of each item, but they have enough of what you need to meet everyday and some exceptional tasks. read more

I've never been here when someone hasn't met me at the door to ask if I need help. Someone is always available to take you right to the thing you need. And they're not only willing to help, but they're actually knowledgeable about the things they sell. It's like a mom and pop hardware store but with a big inventory and competitive prices. To top it off, they have free popcorn which is a huge help when I have my kids with me. read more
