Guarantors, please stay on top of things or you will receive hidden charges that you will not know about until its to late. Staff is unknowledgeable and difficult to deal with, never post monthly rent in a timely manor then will charge you a late fee. Miss information regarding your lease and not up to date with repairs that need to be made. Repairs are not completed in a timely manor and no concern for safety of their resident. When my student moved into a first floor apartment the window lock didn't lock the windows, no concern at all by the maintenance staff. This experience with this apartment complex has been nothing but frustration. Use caution when dealing with them. In response to Rachel, I did call the home office 3 times and no one called me back. The most inconsiderate and inconsistent management you will ever find. They are updating our flooring during our exams. we have to basically move out of our apartment from 8am-6pm (6pm if lucky) and only got less than 2 weeks of notice. Earlier in the semester we've had a plethora of maintenance issues that's were irresponsibly and untimely dealt with. This place is just awful. Don't sign a lease here. The hallways of my building were always covered in dog poop and trash. These communal hallway areas were not cleaned once in the time I was living there. When I complained they basically said that they don't know who is doing it and can't do anything about it. When I would ask them about overage charges on my rent the office told me it could be for a few different things but they did not know. This is priced outrageously high for what you are getting. Maintenance is CREEPY/ comes in unannounced. They will unlock your door even if you're naked and showering :). Maintenance is also incompetent, if something breaks they will literally break it more when they come to 'fix' it. They 'fixed' my broken fridge and then it flooded out so much water it leaked into the apartment below us. The apartment complex has constant construction going on which is so loud and intense that the ceiling lights fell and shattered in both my and my roommates room. This construction went on for months. Due to said construction, they block off the exits, sometimes EVERY exit which makes me late to work because there is no way out of the parking garage. Speaking of the parking garage, it is ancient and unstable. Because of this, they barricade off large portions of parking spaces with cones which leaves no where to park. Moreover, the apartments are FILTHY when you move in. The hallways are disgusting. They advertise high speed internet but the wifi was constantly failing. They claim to have a gym but wont let anyone inside. NO ONE IS ALLOWED IN THE POOL, IT IS JUST FOR SHOW. $750 a month for NOTHING. THIS. PLACE. Well, you have to give a star to leave a review, so I guess I will direct that one star to the people answering the phone, every time I have called they have been polite. I should've paid more attention to the reviews. From day one when I opened the door and saw that the place wasn't clean and the moldy, mildew coming through the air vents onto the ceiling, along with the door that jammed. I had that feeling that we had made a mistake. Not being able to take a look inside before we signed the lease should've been my first clue. We also end upay overages each month, and we are not able to have a print out of usage, I have asked more than once and both times it isn't something they can give me, we've even paid overages when the heat/air had been turned off. I do not understand how, so I offered to call Duke Power and was told that I can't get that info through them. I am not sure where you pay for something but can't request a printout with itemization. We also pay a monthly parking fee to park in the apartment complex of $40, which is crazy in itself. The car has a parking pass displayed on the front rearview mirror, which is registered to our vehicle. But the vehicle was booted and cost $200 to get the boot removed. Why was it booted with the parking pass on the front? Oh, because the complex decided that there must be two displayed parking passes. There was a notice which they say was sent via email, which I am not even sure this is valid, will have to look at the lease again. I'm sure that an email alone doesn't make it valid, but how about maybe putting something on the door or in the mail? $200 for a college student is past ridiculous. I'm swamped with emails and this was an expensive over site. So, yes, they are polite and answer the phone with a smile and will tell you it's great living there, but don't forget that's what they get paid to do. I can't wait until this lease is up! read more

Things were constantly broken or leaking or not working... Like the sink, dishwasher and washing machine... The dryer actually caught my daughters comforter on fire which no one took responsibility for. The dishwasher constantly leaked puddles and puddles of water all over the floor with maintenance telling us that they wouldn't come until the next day because it wasn't an emergency... They said my daughter was supposed to clean it up Or they would charge for a damage fine... She didn't even have enough towels to clean up the water, as it was that bad. The toilets constantly overflowed and leaked and under the kitchen sink constantly dripped and no one would fix anything. This place was a nightmare.The hallways were always dirty...I mean filthy dirty; Trash left all over the place in the stairwells to the parking garage. And then to top off our wonderful experience, on move out day we were charged $30 for a "bag of trash" because a few rappers and miscellaneous items were left under the bed. Also we were charged a $30 move out charge for paint chips... From little scraps of paint that peeled off the wall from posters,etc, As if these apartments were ever clean in the first place! Also, I forgot to mention my daughter was constantly getting a new roommate... One of the roommates wasn't even a college student and had a small child living with her that cried in the night right next to my daughters room when she was trying to study or sleep and management refused to do anything about it (they said that would be discrimination... And that they can't discriminate against people who are not actually in college). Although when we were shown this place the literature constantly describes it as university housing... on the homepage of their website they quote"premiere student housing". I could say more but I won't... So parents and students please take a full tour of the facility and not just right before it's time to sign a lease ...do your research and tour the entire facility... DO NOT LEASE FROM THIS PLACE. As stated in most of the reviews the site is run by students. When you call it is hard to get anyone with any authority to handle your issue. My daughter lived there for almost a full year. I had to move her out due to mold in her unit. It was reported a few times but kept coming back and of course they will not let you out of the lease. The lease even has a whole section on MOLD issues so it must be a regular occurrence if covered in the lease. After I moved her out, they call me and tell me they have someone they want to move into her unit but will not let me out of my lease. They were just shifting an existing tenant to her unit. I had to pay for the full year AND the electric bill each month even though she was no longer there. I am still baffled as to how the electric bill can be so high on a unit with no one living in it. You can find much better and bigger places to rent/lease in the Charlotte area. Don't be lured by the closeness of its proximity to UNCC. University Crossings is run by American Campus Communities. Both practice predatory lease renewals. I am signed as a guarantor for my daughter who signed as a resident. They sent me an electronic lease renewal 4 months early. I assumed my daughter had signed so I went ahead and signed my part as guarantor. After I signed, it informed me that she had not signed as resident yet and they would send me a copy when she did. I called my daughter and she said she was moving and was not going to sign. American Campus Communities has verbiage in their lease that says that if either the resident or guarantor signs, the lease is legally binding. They intend to have legal counsel contact me to collect a full years lease payments unless I find someone else to take the lease. DO NOT ALLOW YOUR YOUNG PERSON TO BECOME A RESIDENT AT UNIVERSITY CROSSINGS. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. to start off, it's completely unsafe, and there's been on more than one occasion people attempting to rob me in the parking deck that doesn't have cameras. There have been break ins in multiple units from people posing as maitenence workers, and not to mention, the actual maintenance workers will take weeks to respond to a request, and even though they're legally required to give notice before entering, they will knock and let themselves in. theres mold, roaches, horrible wifi, & over charges for literal inexplicable reasons. it is so generally unsafe that I've stopped staying here altogethe and I have been staying at a friends place until my lease is up. keep this in mind when I tell you this next part. even though there's an entire less person staying in the unit (me), my roommates and I have consistently been charged for electricity overages, but when asked to see an itemized version of what exactly we were charged for, we're told it's not possible to share. Please, tell me how it's possible for the bill to go UP over 40 dollars per person when there's one less person living there? it's a fucking scam. Not to mention, I've gotten towed and had to pay over 200 dollars even though I have a parking pass that I pay 40 dollars a month for, all bc I parked in the bottom deck that was next to my unit, bc as a young woman who gets off of work at 1 am it's very intimidating to walk down a stairwell where there's regular drug deals, robbery's, etc. you'd think the bottom floor would be reserved for tenants, but even if you have your decal showing you're a resident who pays hundreds of dollars each year to stay, you'll get towed and have to pay 230 dollars bc the bottom deck apparently requires a ten dollar pass to park in regardless of you being a tenant or not. Not to mention, there are no poster signs clarifying tenants must pay to park there, or notices before hand other than if you're a guest and dont pay the meter you'll be towed. oh also, if you have a car larger than a honda civic, expect for your car to be damaged- as this deck is extremely poorly designed and is only made to fit compact vehicles; and even then it's a tight fit. I've gotten multiple unexplained dents and scratches, and when I've reported it to the complex, they told me theres nothing that could be done bc there's no cameras. also, my roommate had her car intentionally destroyed in this deck. her windshield was busted, her windows destroyed, entire vehicle keyed, side mirrors broken off, and more. She still to this day has no idea who did it and why, and her items were also taken from inside. There we're also reports of a woman in the parking deck having her car taken at gunpoint. I'm not exaggerating at all when I tell you this location is a hot spot for dangerous thieves And just is horrible in general for any new comer student.It's so disgusting the way this complex extorts and preys on a population that they know they can take advantage of because of the lack of other options. I lived at "Circle" for two years when I was an undergraduate student at UNC Charlotte. The apartments are now called "University Crossings" and the new owner is American Campus. It took management a year to start locking the outside doors to the complex. When I arrived in August 2017, I asked if they could lock all outside doors (residents have key fobs to get in), and Taylor - one of the student workers in the leasing office - told me that would not happen because locking the doors "is inconvenient for guests who come to visit residents." After several armed robberies, shootings, and sexual assaults happened in the parking garage, they started locking the doors. My clothes started smelling like pot because the hallmates smoked every day in the unit next to mine, and the smell creeped in through the vents. Our sliding glass door constantly leaked water into the living room which caused a mold issue. We told maintenance and they brought a fan and left it there for 6 months. Sidenote- the fan absolutely did not fix the mold issue. Mold creeped in to one of the units and it took maintenance 3 months to tear up - like completely tear up the dry wall - and fix my roommates' unit. This is the worst place I have ever lived. For the safety of everyone who lives there, they should have an entire management overhaul and replace them ~competent~ people. read more

I moved into a dirty apartment with broken appliances, and ROACHES as roommates. There are roaches everywhere on this property BTW. The AC breaks, and their lack of maintenance men results in slow times for fixing. When I moved in my bed frame was damaged, and now it's completely broken and they have yet to bring me a bed! ALSO, they tell you that nobody ever goes over the electricity allowance .. but that's a LIE! Before I signed the lease, workers said that people RARELY go over the allowance, but once I signed the lease, they told me it's very common to go over the allowance??? So they lied... The office staff are friendly but this place is so terrible they always forget what they were supposed to do. You have to call back to make sure they do what you asked. Lastly and probably WORST of all ... since I've lived here they've had roof construction go from 8 AM - 6 PM ... LOUD ... waking me up all the time. If I could give zero or negative stars about this place I would. Where do I even begin. Right from the beginning when we moved in, the apartment hadn't even been cleaned from the previous attendants of the unit and was quite frankly gross. Then the roof reconstruction occurred and would wake you up at the crack of dawn and occurred all day of constraint banging and loud noises from the roof, this occurred for over a month. Then while my roommate and I were on vacation they entered our apartment without consent. They are only allowed to enter during an emergency or a maintenance request, neither of these were the issue at hand. They then proceeded to go in my shower and leave it filthy and leave our front door unlocked for however many days until we arrived back at our apartment. You will be consumed with overages charges on utilities every single month, even if you never run the A/c and barely use the lights. Then when you ask them about it, they can show you no proof of your use of electricity and act clueless. The people in the office are the biggest waste of time as they can never help you with any sort of questions or concerns you may have. The garage door is always broken and has been for the last 5+ months leading to numerous break in to cars in the garage. I got my car booted from the garage and had to pay $200 even though I pay $40 to park there monthly so not even that will keep you safe. They wanted to offer no help or assistance when that situation occurred. The doors all around the complex are constantly broken (don't have handles, won't open, broken locks). This place will nickel and Dime you for every penny you've ever earned. I have thoroughly hated living here And even enjoyed living in a campus dorm more. Please stay away from this place and EVERY American campus communities apartments. Not to mention this place is just not nice aside from all of these issues. I highly don't recommend living at University Crossings. Management and maintenance are terrible at communicating to tenants and the main office is run by students. I had multiple instances where they wouldn't get back to me about an issue or where I had multiple people telling me different things. For instances they offered early move in to me and when I got there they said I couldn't move in because my room wasn't ready (causing me to have to waste tons of gas because they didn't communicate to me until after driving all the way there). Also, maintenance caused us to pay an insane overage after miscommunication for over 2 months about water damage caused to our building after Hurricane Florence hit. The upper management would take forever to process maintenance orders, and we had a bunch of them because the appliances were all like this rating, (1/5) in both quality and durability. The newly installed speed bumps in the parking deck have taken countless days, months, or even years off my car. That is if you make it in the parking deck. The garage doors are so bad and University Crossings (Circle) is so cheap I sometimes have to wait anywhere between 15 minutes to 2 hours just waiting on someone to come out of the deck because the entry gate would be jammed on both entrances. Overall, I've had a great experience from the first day I stopped by to now that I've lived here for almost a month. We can start out with the cons: -walls are kind of thin so if a neighbor has a dog that barks a lot then you will hear it. This can be true everywhere though -the first day you move in, you may feel a little lost because once you sign the lease you are then left to figure things out on your own. HOWEVER, they are rectifying the situation by giving all new leasers a welcome packet with all the information you need. They are also more than happy to answer your questions and I had about a million of them. Now for the Pros! -great staff. They really do care that you have the best experience here and I trust all 3 who work here, Brogan, Veronica, and Wendy. For example, Veronica asked me for input on how things could be better and I emailed her a list of suggestions. One was I suggested a workout bench in the gym, and the treadmill to be fixed. Lo and behold both wishes were granted! -responds to maintenance issues very fast. You can submit a work order by either informing the staff personally or submitting one online. It can be resolved the same day -very pet friendly -pool, gym and lounge area are very clean and nice. There are also 2 grills you can use -location. Right off the Interstate. If you need to get to Ft Benning in the wee hours of the morning, it takes 13-15mins. Also close to Veteran's Pkwy where all the shopping centers and restaurants are. -security. I'm surprised by the reviews here, I was looking for apartments last minute (August 2015) and I saw Circle so I thought I should just check if they have any available one-bedrooms, and there was one available, they told me I can't move in until two weeks after, but then they called and told me that I can move in the day after tomorrow, which was Saturday, August 22! The staff was super helpful (I think her name was Chloe). The only trouble I have is residents, parties every Saturday night, super loud, and sometimes the fire alarm goes off suddenly and It's so annoying. Or could there tenants be a little more thoughtful. The walls a very thin, I heard my neighbor running water. I hear dogs barking every morning. The bedroom is tiny, we got a spacious apartment, but if your bedroom can only fit a queen size bed and nothing else, that's a problem. The leasing office staff is extremely unprofessional and they don't keep private matters confidential, they gossip openly about resident issues like school girls. Very disappointed from my stay here. Ever since new management took over the place, I was furious how the staff was running the complex. Before the takeover from Greystar, the staff was great and all my needs were taken care of. When Greystar took over, all the great staff that worked there were replaced by rude and totally incompetent people. They keep advertising for giving money for referrals and I didn't receive one cent for my one referral. All I keep getting an answer that the check was in the mail....NOPE! I asked the staff that I had a planned date for leaving a closing my apartment and did I need to make an appointment, they said to get one of the staff to check it out. The day I was leaving my apartment, one of the staff members told me if I had a scheduled appointment and I said no because I was told I didn't need one. Then she told me no one could check the apartment because they were short staff and that I had to leave the keys with them and they would check the place later on. After a week from leaving that complex and moving to another state, I get a call from the manager about having my apartment inspected. I said to her are you kidding me?? I told her I was long gone and my keys were turned in. The current staff has major communication problems and not keeping track on what is going on on their complex. Actually, when I move in two days, I'm hate this apartment, I got the Internet problem, the wall outlet internet cable can't working, I made phone call to the Internet company, and their technicist come this apartment, the technicist told me he needs my ticket number from the company and he will help me to fix it, I made phone call for the company again, and when I gave the ticket number for the circle office, they are write down on the tip, when I come after two day, nobody helpful in the circle university city office, one girl told me call the Internet company again, they are don't have a service system, like when you come and told them what is your name, and they don't know who you are and where you live, and then the wall outlet Internet cable is not my problem, I move in the apartment, the problem still have in there! I made phone call but it's not my responsibility! The office just put here to let you lose! Terrible apartment! I will move out! read more
