I took my phone there when the camer's lens broke. It had happened once before for unknown reasons. He told me it should not have broken again with the type of phone I have (an active modrel), and if it happened after he repaired it he would replace it for free. He promised that the lens he put in would be made of the strongest glass material. After he did the work, he advised me I should purchase a glass protector for my screen. Since he did not have one in stock for my phone, he advised me to buy it somewhere else as soon as posdible and he offered to install it for free just to make sure there were no bubles, etc. I did buy it and bring it back and he installed it for me immediately and for free. I have an HTC one m8 and I had a problem with charging the phone... They were very nice and did a great job! My phone's repair is a bit harder because you can't just unscrew the shell to get to the interior parts. You need to melt the glue, take off the screen then reglue the screen back on afterward. They are very knowledgeable on this process and explained it to me. I trust them with my phone. 100% would go back and I recommend them to everyone!! read more

I cannot tell you enough good things about this place! I had recently broken the screen of my iPad Pro 12.9 4th generation and was calling places around Davis in order to fix it. I am a UC Davis student and don't have a lot of money in my budget so calling for quotes seemed like a good place to start. BEWARE TO THOSE WHO ARE BUYING FROM HERE: The guy working here is nice, but does not know what he is talking about. He sold me boyfriend a phone & told him it would work for any company. We tried to hook it up to sprint & they wouldn't activate it because it's not a sprint phone. I stayed in the shop for over an hour to prove to the guy that the company would not activate the new phone! Since my boyfriend paid with a card, he had to return it. And when he went in the next day, he wanted to charge him a restocking fee?!?! Charge him a TEN PERCENT FEE to return the phone that we were given wrong information about?!?! Wow this was a great experience. I brought my severely damaged iPhone 5 in to Frank for a possible repair. Frank spent around 2 hours with me trying everything to try to get my phone to work. The problem turned out to be a motherboard issue, which is irreparable (Frank was the second place I brought my broken phone, the first place said it was irreparable also). Frank didn't charge me anything after doing all of this troubleshooting. I called a couple days later to thank him for spending all of that time with me, and he said no problem. read more

I recently shattered my iPhone 5c screen and so I called several places to price shop and see where I could get the best deal. So I called some other place and they said they could fix my screen for $55 and then I kept price shopping to get the best deal. Then, I called this place and they promised they match that price. So a few weeks later I stop by after I saved up some money and they raised the price to $60 and so I was like I don't have the money I'll stop by Sunday and so I made an appointment. Then a day before the appointment I get a call from them and they say they can't come in Sunday to fix my phone. So finally I stopped back in today and they raised the price to $65 because "the prices of the screens raised" and at that point I was at my wits end with them and I just walked out. It's one of those days... Meeting friends on a morning outing in Napa, I drop my iPhone 6 on its edge, recently removed from it's back case for a now ridiculous reason, shattering the glass screen. After a reasonable amount of swearing, I head to the Geek Squad in Woodland, who inform me that they can't help, but there's 'this guy' in some tiny shop in Davis who is, in a word, amazing. And fair. And honest. I go home to start a Yelp search and a few shops come up in Davis, but only one that is consistently rated high, with language like 'sublime' and 'amazing service' and 'highly recommended.' I call at 6:30pm, thinking I'll get a machine. I get Frank, the owner, the one and only 'amazing, sublime, highly recommended' Frank. There's a baby in the background crying when I call (did I mention it's Father's Day?), and after asking me a few questions, Frank tells me he'll meet me at the store. It's really alright that it's a Sunday night, he says. No, no...I'm not disturbing his dinner. Is 7:10pm alright? I know the people at Vampire Penguin think I'm crazy, standing in front of a closed business, but here comes Frank, opening up his business, offering me a seat and methodically taking my iPhone apart and putting it back together perfectly. Perfectly. In about a 1/2 hr, my phone is back, with a discounted glass protector since it was purchased with a repair. By 8pm, I'm back at my house in Woodland, putting the back case on my repaired iPhone...on a Sunday...Father's Day... Frank is all of those things used to describe him, and he's methodical and focused and careful and clearly very skilled. He's a kind man, a generous fellow who says things like "we all have to help each other," so I want to help Frank. Don't go anywhere else for anything to do with a smartphone or an iPad.
